My first BLOG day!

I'm an interior decorator and I write a decorating column for our local newspaper. I get lots of complements about my articles and lots of business as well. I like to write my column as it helps people learn about decorating. I also like to write for myself because I can dump stressful feelings, talk about what I want to talk about, and basically get it out of my system. Once I write it down, it goes away and I can start fresh.
I've decided to start a BLOG here on Sparkpeople to help me with my journey to better health. I've been on every diet imaginable. Well, maybe not every one but enough to know what to do. I may have found the connection recently that might help me. I joined the Sonoma Diet about 3 years ago and lost 18 pounds. It is a great program and the recipes are delicious. There is a book and a website and I have learned a lot. SD stopped working for me this year and I gained back about 14 pounds, never reaching my goal. I had briefly participated in Spark during that time. I got bored with it and people were not participating on the message boards like they were when I started. I wasn't getting motivation and the diet did not allow for slips like eating any type of sugar. A daily glass of wine is allowed and it is very flexible. One woman lost 88 pounds in about a year and a half and never once veered from the diet. My lifestyle and social commitments prohibited me from doing that. SOOOO I had to come up with a solution or be fat.
I decided to rejoin weight watchers. I am a lifemember but had not participated in years. But, the points system is very flexible and it does allow a brownie or ice cream as long as you count the points. I haven't completely gotten into it but I have lost 2.5 pounds in spite of that. So something must be working. So here I am. I'm hoping with sparkpeople and weight watchers and starting a daily blog will help me find the direction and support I need to finally get to a healthy weight, whatever that is.

    Having a plan is part of the weight loss process. II am far from my goal but I keep trying. I think that if I keep trying and do not totally give up I will finally make it there. My prayer for you is that You meet your goal. I am glad God has gifted you with the talent to decorate, how wonderful. You have two good tools to help you on your journey sparkpeople and weight watchers. Make them work for you as you work to achieve you goals. Take care and may God bless.

    Good for you! We each have to find what works best for us. For some it is the SP diet but I think far more use WW, some use Atkins, etc. There is no one size fits all. Find the right food program for you, add in exercise, and you will make it!

    That is what I feel SparkPeople is about. You work with what you want to do, yet you use Spark as a good base to track your daily food intake and your exercise. You can easily see the results with no hard math or such (my problem on one diet I was trying to do). So Welcome Back. You wil do great things.

    I hope this works for you. You didn't say if you were excercising as well. That component has been the key for me. It allows me to work of some of my eating indiscretions.
