Four days. Just Four days.

I gained 7 (SEVEN) pounds over the holidays (gasp).

This has gone on long enough. Last year at this time I was an unstoppable freight train. In the right direction. I need to regain my mojo.

I'm going to start with four days of staying on track.

Four days of staying within the calories LeanMe suggests.

Four days of exercising EVERY DAY. Either strength or cardio or both.

This is what I did last year and I need to do it again. Because I want my hot athletic kayaking body back, dammit. I want my strength and endurance back.

And I am going to be among that 5% who keep the weight off. All off.

So here goes. I'm going to do this for four straight days. Just four. Then I'll do another one, and another one, and another one.

But for now I'm focusing on four. Because I can comprehend doing that.

I'll report back here on Friday with the results.

Because this train is stopping and reversing, right now. Period.

    I find focusing on those small goals works best for me too. I focus on 5 lbs at a time. Less overwhelming that way.

    Awesome concept! This time every year, I feel like I start again..... just turned 45 and am going to make this my year. I train for tri's and get plenty of exercise.... but I love to eat.
I am with you. 4 days sounds very reasonable. And now, 1 is done and I have succeeded. 3 to go.

    Yes, that's the way to do it. The way I lost my weight was by taking 5 pounds at a time and concentrating on nothing else. So I really love your philosophy of taking this 4 days at a time. I too put on weight over the holidays and today I started in earnest and I've made it so far and don't feel challenged. We WILL be two of the 5% who keep it off. We WILL!!!

P.S. We're the same weight as each other again!!!!

Fun in Rochester

Yesterday they let us out of work early so I spent the afternoon and evening with CCKELLY3 in Rochester.

We had loads of healthy fun. First we went to a nearby orchard outlet and bought a bushel of Crispin apples that we split

...and some potent catnip. Which I just tested on my housemates a few moments ago and it was definitely enjoyed.

Next we went to the Big Wegmans flagship store in Pittsford, NY and battled the holiday crowd for healthy and tasty prepared food.

Then a brief stop for an immoveable appointment for CCKELLY3 while I napped and read, and after that to Manhattan Square Park for some ice skating!

While waiting for the Zamboni to finish we snacked on some really nice sharp cheddar and a variety of heirloom apples:

CCKELLY3 quickly rediscovered her mad skating skillz, while I'm just getting my feet back under me after a long hiatus of my own.

We spent a little over an hour out there, dodging the teenagers pushing each other down, little kids with their parents, youngsters wobbling about, etc. It was fun. I don't think I've ever skated on such rough ice before, ever - it got really cut up soon after people went back on there. I'm feeling it today. LOL

Then we went to Dinosaur Barbeque and had a light dinner that we planned to dance off afterward.

More XC Skiing

Went to Winona State Forest with some friends today. 18 inches of fluffy new snow, beautiful scenery.

Also tried ice skating again for the first time in about 20 years. My boots were so stiff from disuse and cold from sitting in the car that it took about 10 minutes to actually get them on! And I only skated for about 10 minutes. LOL

    Love the pictures!

Sometime you might want to try snowshoeing. It's a great way to be outside. It can get your body temp up in a hurry. It was one of the few things I could do when I lived up north where I would warm enough.

Last weekend I went for the first XC ski of the year. Everyone else was a lot faster than me, but I made it. I need practice!

Tiny Fruit

It's that TOM (sorry, BB) and I've been jonesing for sweet things.

So today I went to the store and picked up some fruit. It didn't occur to me until later when a friend pointed it out, that I now have a bowl on my desk filled with TINY FRUIT:

Seckel Pears

(yep, the little one on the right)

Bananitos

(the little ones third from the left)

Tangerines
(everyone knows that tangerines are little oranges, so no need to show a picture here)

I thought it was pretty funny.

The good thing about these snacks is that they're all under 100 calories each. Which is fine, as long as I restrict myself to a REASONABLE NUMBER of them. Workin' on it, OK? LOL

    Good plan. I have a refrigerator drawer loaded down with vegetables. My weight has crept up a bit, but I've mostly put a clamp on it. I had a plan to drop some this month but I'm not keeping up on workouts or intake tracking, so what do I expect? Heh.

No problem. Persistence, as your status often says. Keep it reasonably front of mind and in control and it will come out OK.
