Exercise Mojo

Thursday, February 28, 2013

I think I've lost my motivation to exercise. Not really, it's more subtle than that. I definitely want to exercise still but I seem to have lost the time that I used to make. I started scheduling my exercise workouts on the calendar so I could go to the gym but the first day I missed that, it kind of threw me off and now I can't seem to even get back up to 15,000 steps.
I think it has to do with getting our house back in order along with school stuff. We still have a few boxes to unpack and I've been slowly getting to those but I seem to keep falling behind on regular household chores. Those just pile up if I don't stay up on them until I want to take the whole day and just clean, but I can't because I don't have time. It's become either exercise or clean and I need to do both. Soooo, first things first. I need to get the house back in order and get my schedule back out. It's time to go back to paper and keep a cleaning schedule. I used to do that at our old house and it kept cleaning to a minimum and brought my time back. My old schedule does not fit my new house and routines, so I'll work on revamping that.
Next, is exercise. I LOVE to exercise. I love to watch the steps add up and put everything down on paper later. But that is also a reason that it gets put off. I am a reward type of person. Basically, I try to do everything I don't like to do first before I'll let myself do the things that I enjoy. So that means I tell myself I need to clean before I exercise. Well, that's just BULL! And I need to get over it. So, I think I may get up and start exercising first, in the morning. Tons of people do it and it's supposed to be the best time to exercise. I'm not exactly at my best in the morning but I think I'll give it a try. It may help get me more motivated to catch up on all of this cleaning!

me too but we just have to "make" time for exercise just like we make time for everything else that we think is so important.

Meeting Spark People

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

I'm going to meet some fellow Sparkpeople for the first time! I'm so excited! (and a little nervous)
I have been on Sparkpeople for so long and never once thought about looking for a local Spark Team. I don't know why. It just never dawned on me. I had read about Spark Rallies that they had in other cities in the past and I was searching for information about future ones. I just thought it would be neat to go and meet a few other people. I ended up on the Spark America page, which I had only gone to a couple of times in the past and I was looking at the comparison of our city vs. others in exercise minutes when I read a little paragraph about finding your own local group by simply searching for your city in Spark Teams!

DOH! emoticon

Really! That simple, huh? After I had been searching for these get togethers on and off for the last few weeks. I almost called myself a few choice names (but caught myself in time)!

So, I searched. Found our team and they are already meeting this Friday!

I found so many great things posted in the forum for the local team! If you haven't searched Sparkteams for your city, go do it! There could be some really helpful stuff in there!

I'm so glad you found us! I've always been a huge advocate for spark meet ups and have said (to some folks dismay) that if your local team doesn't hold them at least once a year they might need to look at getting new leadership (I know, I'm trouble) emoticon

We will be having at least 4 dinner meet ups as well as a picnic in the park in April at Siclovia where we will all walk, bike, talk and visit during this huge free family event. We had a half sparkathon 13.1 walk in January that we had trained for all throughout 2012. We've made good friends and built a great support system...plus....if you are on facebook look up the San Antonio Spark Team page and "like" us for links to great articles, information, and pictures of our various get togethers!

Looking forward to meeting you!

Special Tuesday NCIS Workout

Monday, February 25, 2013

I love NCIS and someone posted this on one of my Spark Teams:

NCIS Workout Game:

When Gibbs gives someone a headsmack...do 15 squats.
When DiNozzo makes a movie reference or does an impression...do 10 pushups.
When Ziva flubs an English word or phrase...do 25 crunches.
When McGee says something computer-technical...jog in place for 1 minute.
When Abby drinks a Caf-Pow...do 10 bridges.
When Ducky goes off on a tangent...do 15 reverse crunches.
When Palmer puts his foot in his mouth...do 10 lunges.
When the director argues with Gibbs...do 30 seconds of jumping jacks.
When there's a flashback...do a 30 second plank.
When someone doesn't know what NCIS stands for...do 10 tricep dips.

I can't wait to try it out!

Weed Eating and Gardening

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Weed eating and gardening today really worked my arms. I had planned on push-ups and weights but I don't think I can do either!
Today is our day to relax. I walked around the pool and finished reading a book. Then we planted the garden. I already have almost 10,000 steps on my relaxing day! Tonight, we're going to see the musical Memphis!
And my husband has started using Sparkpeople, kind of. He told me that I could set up an account for him and log his food for him. I know that sounds strange but to me that is awesome. It means he really is interested in getting healthy and seeing how all of this works, but he has to go about it slowly. One day he'll log in himself and then it will be all over; he'll take it over himself and be just as involved as I am, if not more so!

More Fruits and Veggies

Friday, February 22, 2013

While I have been concentrating on eating in the right calorie range and getting my steps in every day, and strengthening my arms, I let my fruits and veggies slip. I wasn't too worried about it. I kind of considered it an experiment of the calories in/ calories out formula but my stomach has not been happy the last few days so I am so going back to my proper servings of fruits/veggies.

Things are working well and I can definitely tell a difference when eating the right foods!
