Consistency!

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I remember writing a blog with this same title last year. I was trying so hard to remain consistent. I just wanted to be able to do the same thing 3 days in a row, whether it was exercise, drinking water, getting enough sleep, eating my fruits and veggies or even logging into the Sparkpeople site.
It was so hard when we weren't sure about anything that was going on, even where we might be sleeping from night to night. (We had plenty of places but everything was in flux.) Even with all of that going on, I continued to think about Sparkpeople and always tried to work on at least one area that I know needed improvement.
Now, we have a new house and while we're still very busy, we know exactly where our 'home' is and where we will be coming back to almost every night. I noticed consistency building through December (which is a hard month anyways). I continued to log into SP and did very well at reaching 10,000 steps per day. In January, I am on day 15 of logging in, tracking, exercise and 15,000 steps/day!

New Scale

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Sadly, it really was just a fluke. My scale was not working properly. However, the new scale did still show a loss! One more pound down!

And I'm still doing well with 15,000 steps per day. Today, was probably one of the hardest days. I just didn't feel well but I didn't want to make that an excuse or make it too easy to say, "I'll just take a break today." I know that one of these I will take a break and I won't give myself a hard time about it. I also won't push myself if I really am sick but today just feels like maybe the beginning of getting sick which is one more reason to get my exercise in today because if I really am getting sick than I won't be able to exercise tomorrow. Yikes!
Hopefully a good nights rest will put me back on my feet tomorrow!

Tomorrow's goal: 15,000 more steps and chicken soup!

7lb Loss!!

Thursday, January 10, 2013

I know it's not just about weight loss but my scale shows a 7lb loss!!! I have never, never lost weight like that before. So I'm going to go buy a new scale before I believe that number is true. It does coincide nicely with my increase in exercise but I used to exercise much more intensely (the last time we were settled in one location for more than a few months) and I would be happy to lose 1 lb /week or just not gain.
If this is true, than there are only two other things that could have had a significant impact:
1) I have only had 1 glass of wine in the last nine days! I was kind of shocked myself when I realized it because it wasn't something I did intentionally; I just didn't want to have any alcohol until I had completed my steps for the day and I haven't been completing them until late at night.
2)Thyroid medicine - I don't know what to say about this but the doctor said I may see a change in my weight loss. I didn't really see anything significant over December but I was just really excited not to gain any weight. (Still thanking Fitbit for keeping me on track during that time!)

I'll get a new scale this evening, double check in the morning and see what happens!

Ahhhh! I lost my Fitbit!!

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

I went to check my steps for today and it was gone!! I've been at home all day so I know it's here somewhere. We are in the middle of a frantic search. I even offered a prize of their choosing to the first of my kids to find it!

Off to search some more!

Update: Shortly after this post, we found it in the kids reading chair where we started out our day, so I had a whole 300 steps tracked! Needless to say, I really got moving this evening because I was still determined to hit my goal. I even ran some!

Just saw your post & wanted to let you know that I sent an email to fitbit asking if I could get a discount to replace a lost tracker. They offered to send a new one for free right away. I would suggest giving it a try. Mine ended up turning up at the gym, but it was nice to know that they really care about their customers.

Good luck! If you have a laptop with the software on it...or an iDevice (phone, pad, etc) carry the laptop around and check to see if at some point it sync with the FitBit.

Day 8

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

I wasn't sure if 15,000 steps was going to be attainable today. We had some things come up and I almost didn't get them in but I spent my evening watching the 2 shows my husband and I like to watch while I did steps!
I really need to start getting up earlier to get them done but that will only happen if I go to bed earlier, so I guess I should go to bed now!

Tomorrow's goals:

15,000 steps
Up and dressed by 8am
