Woohoo Moment!

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

I was scared to weigh myself this morning because I did not feel well yesterday (there was something really wrong with my stomach) so I did not exercise yesterday. I also did not feel like eating yesterday (that's when I know there is something really wrong!) I forced myself to eat a banana for lunch but could not force myself to exercise, so I was afraid to step on the scale this morning. Exercise, more than anything else seems to have the biggest effect on my weight and how I feel.
So I was shocked when I stepped on the scale and realized that I had lost almost 1/2 a pound! The weight seems to be coming off a lot easier than it ever has in the past. I don't know if it's the exercise, Fitbit (which helps me exercise), logging all of my food (though I still need to work on what I eat) or the thyroid medicine. I imagine it's a combination of everything, so I will continue to keep this combination for as long as possible.
There is also the fact that we are finally in a permanent location so we have routines again and less stress.

Today our Christmas fun begins! We have our first Christmas party this evening. Friday, we are going to visit some friends and see The Nutcracker ballet. Saturday and Sunday we have consecutive Christmas parties and next week the kids have their Christmas party!
So much fun!

So what do I need to focus on over the next 3 weeks?

1) Tracking! Log in and track everything! (plus that adds to my Sparkpoints and I'd like to see how high I can get them this month.)
2) Exercise and remember the Fitbit and plug for the laptop to track exercise. (If nothing else, I will walk around the house until I reach 10,000 steps per day.)
3) Have fun!

That's it! Those are my only goals for December.

Good for you. Ride the weight loss wave. Don't forget to write down your goals and take them to the parties. That way you can have fun and still like yourself in the morning.
Don't know how long you've been on synthroid, but mine took a month for the laziness to go away and another month to get me back to full speed.
Hope you have lots of fun at the parties. emoticon

Another Fitbit Update

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

Today my Fitbit is not automatically updating. I am sad. I did very well today. Now I need to go read about why it is not working correctly.

I am happy about my number of steps!

Edit: Got it figured out. Apparently I somehow turned off the Fitbit application on my computer. Everything is good and updated!

Fitbit Update

Monday, December 03, 2012

I'm still hitting all of my goals and seeing it on the Fitbit helps that.

Two things to mention today:

1) I didn't have to hit the button to bring my Fitbit steps in SP today. They were already there, so SP must read them from Fitbit throughout the day also.

2) If you set it up, the iPhone app will randomly text you throughout the day with your steps and encouragement. I love that!

Oh! I was down 2 lbs today! That is awesome. I'm a great maintainer but not so great at shedding the pounds. Thanks SP for a great site and helping me really watch what I eat and thanks for integrating with Fitbit! Thanks Fitbit for really tracking my exercise so there is no way I could accidentally skimp on my exercise!

Starting Off Strong in December

Sunday, December 02, 2012

It's probably a little strange but I love starting out a month with as many spark points as possible. One of my biggest motivators with SparkPeople is the points, so when I start the month out right it's even more motivation to keep going.
I know it seems like they're just little things because exercise and tracking should be our biggest focus but those points help me to stay focused on everything. Exercise and tracking are the base but I know that everything I read helps me also. The Sparkteams keep me coming back in those rare times when I have strayed too long. Plus, I just really, really like to see the points add up and see how many I can get in a month. I'd really like to see how many I can get next year. I wonder if there's a way to see points accumulate in one year versus the previous year. That would be interesting.

The Fitbit is working great and has helped me to reach my activity goals every day since I've had it. I love that the computer automatically reads my steps and I just push one button in my tracker and it populates my steps, calories burned, minutes and give me my spark points!

I'm hoping December continues as well. It is the month of fun and parties but I'm planning out as much as possible and will use my Fitbit to keep up with my exercise goals (even if that means just walking around the house until I hit 10,000 steps!)

Most of our meals are planned for this month and I did about 75% of the grocery shopping. My basket was too full for me to finish! And most of it was fruits and veggies! (I love to dehydrate, so we stock up when we can.)

Seriously, I don't understand how my cholesterol is so high. My favorite foods are fish and veggies! Okay, well, maybe I do know... Alcohol is my major downfall, but I'll keep working on decreasing it. It will never go away completely because there are too many yummy ways to cook with it and, well, if I'm cooking with it, I might as well have a glass too!

In the last two weeks, I've had 3 glasses of wine, one mixed drink, and 2 beers. Not too bad in the grand scheme of things. It's less than the recommended one drink per day (the mixed drink was very large though, so it should probably count as 2).

Tomorrow is day 2 of December! I'm looking forward to filling up those points again!

Happy you are starting Dec off in good fashion. I'm a points monger too, just want to see how high I can get them. Thank you for the fitbit update, I'm about 90% decided. Nice job with the alcohol, wish I could do that well. Best wishes and have a good day.

I do the same thing. I spend quite a lot of time on Sprakpeople to get as many spark points as I can. It is amazing how much I learn!

Yesterday and Goals

Thursday, November 29, 2012

I did great on my exercise yesterday! I love the Fitbit!

I did not do so well on my nutrition. It all started with a bowl of cereal rather than my normal oatmeal and ended with a bowl of ice cream!! (I sooo did not want to put any of that in my tracker but I made myself anyway!)

It's funny how slightly overeating one day shows up on the scale the next day but eating well and exercising seems to take a minimum of a week to ever show up.

Goals:

1) Back to good breakfasts
2) 5 servings of fruits and veggies
3) 20,000 steps

Have you tried measuring the cereal & milk? Maybe that wouldn't make you feel so guilty about it?

Good luck with your goals!
