Another accident

Monday, February 13, 2012

My cousin was in a motor cycle accident last night, so we went up to see him today. He may lose his foot! This is crazy! First, my Dad's accident and now Mike's. My Dad will be here with us until at least the 16th. I'm hoping we get some good news whn we go back, but his memory problems seem to be getting worse, not better.

WOW I am glad that everyone is mostly OK. Motorcycle accidents are hard because there is not much if anything between you and the object you hit to take the impact.
I will say a prayer for you and your family

Keep Focused

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

I can eat healthy and exercise well when my life is running smoothly and as expected, but how long does that ever last. There's always some unexpected wrench thrown in just to keep things interesting. I tell myself that I can handle these things and that I'm prepared, but I am a big liar! Granted, I'm glad I keep trying and I'm pretty sure I get better everytime but I think I might need to plan through a few things in my head and be prepared to throw in fitness and health no matter where I am.
With my dad's accident, we have been in the car a lot. I keep snacks and drinks in our car for the kids most of the time. It's just nice to know that I can give them a drink or snack if we're waiting in traffic or stuck at the doctor's office for a couple of hours. Now I need to start keeping some healthy drinks and snacks in the car for myself. I just have no idea, other than water, what I can keep in the car that would be healthy.
And I need a plan for something I can possibly do with the kids while we're stuck in a waiting room or waiting out in the car. For example, yesterday, my brother met us at the doctor's office so he could go in with dad and I could wait out in the car with the kids. The kids were way more entertained that way. They got to watch movies and eat snacks. I tried to read. Dad stays with us since I stay home. Everyone else works, so we are trying to plan late appts for him. Then, I'll drive him to the appts and my brother will try to meet us there for all of them. That leaves me driving for about 4 hours round trip and waiting for around fo another 2. I'd like to take advantage of the waiting time to do something a little healthy.

Plan for tomorrow (Dad will be gone most of the day):

1 hour of cardio in the morning
DD's school
Hopefully, some cleaning
Scrapbooking with a friend
Track everything

Only Monday?

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

I can't believe it's only Monday!! We took Dad back for more tests today. We were in the car most of the day. My body is NOT happy about the unhealthy food and lack of exercise from the last 2 days. I promised it that we would be healthier tomorrow!
My poor Dad! He is going crazy trying to remember his accident, what happened, where he was and why? He can't even remember anything we have told him about it. It's like a big blank. I don't understand why he can't remember even what we discussed this morning (if it relates to the accident!) He asked me the same questions at least 3 times today. What doctor did I go to? Did I go in an ambulance? Who called the ambulance? Where is my truck? Why are they running these tests? Why am I going to the doctor? What happened? What doctor did I go to?
It's been a long day and he just gets more frustrated. I'm hoping he gets better soon.

Superbowl Sunday!

Sunday, February 05, 2012

So..., it was Superbowl Sunday and I didn't plan as well as I thought I had! :)

I decided not to make any cookies or sweets because I knew they would easily become 'go to' foods and we only bought one bottle of wine. We grilled steaks and salmon and had chips and dips (which I knew I could stay away from). The problem - I have wonderful friends! They brought sushi rolls and beer! And I LOVE both! emoticon

Healthy Day!

Saturday, February 04, 2012

Woohoo! A great fruit and veggie day! I had fruit with breakfast, a great spinach salad with cranberries and homemade pizza with wheat crust and veggies for dinner!

I also managed to get in 2 hours of cardio! 30 minutes was a walk on the trails with the kids and Dad. It was great to get out of the house.
