Week 3, Day 5

I LOVE the Elliptical!! I used it for an hour today. I started with the 30 minute goal and pushed myself on to 45 minutes. When I was on the last 10 minutes, DH came and opened the windows and the cool, fresh air gave me the energy to push through for another 15 minutes! Yay DH!! I finished up with 30 minutes on the stationary bike and Day 5 of the January Jumpstart videos!

    You are going so well. Keep it up. I love the elliptical too, so much that I purchased one last year for my home.Hubby and I saved for months. It is up against a wall in the dining room and I am on it at least 3 times a week. Excellent way to burn calories. Maybe I better use it more often LOL

Week 3, Day 4

It's been a very relaxing Sunday. I may have overeaten today because I did not track before eating. We'll see and I'll do better tomorrow.
I've still got some exercise and my video to do tonight. I can't wait to start a brand new week tomorrow!


Quiet Mornings, Squirrels and Coffee

Hmmm... that title makes it sound like this blog might actually flow together in a nice way! It doesn't.

It's a quiet, beautiful morning here. We had movie and pizza night last night (homemade with wheat crust and turkey pepperoni). The girls wanted to sleep in the living room, so we inflated an air matress and they got comfortable and watched movies until midnight. I was falling asleep on the couch. All of that leads me to my beautiful and quiet morning. The kids are still asleep and I'm taking full advantage of this peace.
Today is going to be a more relaxed day. I'm still planning for 2 hours of cardio (but I'm perfectly happy with 1) and I'll do the Day 3 video today.

Our squirrel is back! We had a squirrel that liked to visit our back yard and our Rottweiller, Cyrus, is so great that he just let the squirrel come in and wander around. At first, he was a little wary and would watch the squirrel all the time. Now they seem to get along well. My husband said he saw the squirrel laying on Cyrus a couple of times while Cyrus was napping. (He takes a lot of naps!) We were away for a few months and when we came back I hadn't seen the squirrel, but he's back now.

I decided to stop drinking coffee, not necessarily for health reasons, although I think that will be an added benefit, but for monetary reasons. I like expensive coffee. We were spending $456 a year on coffee!!! That just seemed a little outrageous. If I start setting aside just the money I would spend on coffee every month, then I will have a pretty nice amount to get something new next year. A SparkPeople article actually spurred my decision to kick out the coffee. The money realization came next. The article basically stated that caffeine before exercise can increase blood pressure.


As I was adding to my tracker this morning, I realized that I need to make a note to this blog - I am still planning on drinking coffee occasionally. This morning I am trying an instant Cappuccino that my husband bought for me.


Week 3, Day 2

I went a bit over my goal for calories today but I feel pretty good about it overall. We had a few people over for a scrapbooking party which means extra food and drinks. I had a few chips and salsa and some carrots with ranch dip. I hadn't had ranch in so long! I forgot how good it was. Luckily, it will be going back with my neighbor.
Knowing that everyone was coming over today I actually woke up early and did my exercises in the morning. It was great! I really need to work on that more often. I had to keep reminding myself throughout the day that I had already done my SP video. I might still get on the bike tonight also.
For dinner, I made pizza again with a whole wheat crust. I gave one to my neighbor also. I was a little worried about it because her husband doesn't like whole wheat anything. She told me that he LOVED the crust! It probably has to do with the olive oil/parmesan/garlic salt/italian seasoning that I brushed onto it also.
It was a good Friday. I still have to work on my self-control but I feel like I'm making better decisions all the time.



WooHoo! Week 3!

Today is the start of week 3 in the January Jumpstart Challenge! I started it a couple of days early because I didn't see any reason to wait until the 1st and I knew there was a good chance I might miss a day or two here or there so starting early seemed right.
I've kept up with the videos every day and I'm almost back to my normal cardio time! Yay! I was even able to do a couple of the videos twice! (When I can do the day 7 video twice that will be a great success!)

Goals for today:

1 hour of Cardio
Day 1 video
Put up Laundry
Make Beds and straighten rooms
Kids school
Clean 2 couch cushions
