Eating Right

Friday, October 14, 2011

When it's time for maintenance, I think I'll be very good at it. It's what I've been doing for the past 6 months! One of these days I'll have enough self-control to reach a weight that I'd like to maintain. I went over my calories almost everyday this week but I kept up two hours of cardio every day and started strength training. I have been hungrier than normal this week. I'd like to think that it's the ST but I think it has more to do with the fact that I wasn't eating as healthy as normal. When I have oatmeal for breakfast and my spinach salad for lunch, I am just not as hungry throughout the day. So, in order to continue to eat right I need to:

1.) Go to bed on time - That way I can wake up enough to feel like making oatmeal (I know you're thinking, "Oatmeal doesn't take that long!" but in my sleepy brain a bagel is a lot faster.)
2.) Set aside grocery money and plan on going to the stor every Saturday to buy spiach and feta for the next weeks salads. (I usually only go grocery shopping every 2 weeks and I plan out everything for 2 weeks but spinach doesn't last that long and for some reason I have not been able to talk myself into going to the store to buy more in between, but now I am going to make it a priority.)
3.) Continue to log my food everyday until it becomes habit.

Energy and What to do With It

Thursday, October 13, 2011

It's going to be a great day! I woke up full of energy! (Too bad I couldn't burn some of it off before getting out of bed this morning, but DH didn't wake up with the same amount of energy.) emoticon
We only have a few things to get done today outside of the house - meeting with 6yr old DD's teacher, run by the bank, and 4 yr old DD's art class. This morning I put on a pair of black jeans and a form fitting shirt that I love but usually don't wear with the jeans because jeans have a way of pushing things up that doesn't look great with tight shirts. When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked! It looked pretty good! That is motivation to continue my stregth training today! In order to funnel my energy in the right direction (and keep my thoughts from wandering), I need to make a plan for my day.

15 minutes straightening girls room
1 hour on the stationary bike
ST
Laundry
15 minutes straightening DS room
Vaccuum living room
1 hour steps
Make a delicious dinner for DH
Put the kids to bed early!!

Short Blog

Thursday, October 13, 2011

I woke up with a sore throat and a little cold, I think. I wasn't sure how well I was going to do with exercise today, but by this evening I was able to get on the bike for an hour and a half. I didn't eat as healthy as normal but I was able to stay within my calorie range, so overall I think it turned out pretty well.

My Little Pebbles

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

I am continuing to overeat but I am still tracking every bit of it. I am not sure why I'm doing it but I'm going to work on figuring it out so I can stay on track. I am doing well with breakfast and lunch. I seem to lose it with dinner, even when I have planned healthy. This evening I was very hungry by dinner time but I had planned my dinner and ate what I had planned but then I added a biscuit with cane syrup and two drinks. I have had crazy, crazy, crazy cravings for chocolate the last few days and I've tried to combat them with some different methods but since I'm still coming out over on calories, I know I still need to figure out exactly why. I'm hoping that getting adequate sleep all at one time will help.
I think it's very interesting that these are the problems I'm having because I know that they are nothing major, so I think it's great! And I will find a solution soon, so that I can move on to some other non-essential problem. I hope that makes sense. I feel like I am getting healthier and healthier every day and these little problems are just that. They're like the little pebbles that need to be swept off the sidewalk to keep it clean every day.

Sleep

Monday, October 10, 2011

I did two hours of steps on the Wii today. It was nice. I got it done in the morning and was able to work on the house this afternoon. I got rid of quite a few things to make our small house feel more comfortable. It's nice to get in my exercise and get stuff done on the house. One day I WILL get up early to exercise! For now I am just happy to get it done whenever I can. I really need to go to bed earlier and get up earlier. I think that mentally I will feel much better if I can accomplish this small goal. I'm in bed now and hoping to be asleep by 10pm. I really need to talk to my husband about turning everything off at a certain time, I'm just not sure how to go about it. If we could just turn everything off by 11pm, I think it would be a great improvement. I know a big part of it is me also. If I can consistently put everything down, every night by 11pm, then he'll begin to do it also. So I'll start tonight and see how this affects, well, everything.
