If someone where to ask me what I would like for Mopthers Day this year I would without hesitation say low sugar Apple Butter from the Crossville Depot, sprouted bread, eggs or a Kroger card so I can get my own sprouted bread.
Flowers? Sure, but please do not get me cut flowers, look at my front yard and realize I love the ones that grow and produce flowers or vegetables. Besides, I have to go out and walk around and look at them and care for them. That is something I love to do.
My youngest son (he is 16) already has told me what he will do for me and it is truly an awesome thing. He surprised me by telling me we have a date this next weekend to go to the movies and see Dark Shadows. WOW! I did not even know he knew that was something I wanted to see. He has had to pay attention to my Facebook page. Now that in itself is a Mothers Day present that I will always remember. Yes I will remember his taking me to the movies but more the thought that he knows me! He knows ME! He thought about ME and what I would like and came up with this on his own. I am sure this is not his type of movie so this is just for ME!! WOW, am I blessed or what!? Must move on, I feel the tears beginning! :)
So, this year I would prefer something to do with the new me and not something that you think I would like. Yes I do appreciate the thoughtfulness of other gifts but I do not wear jewelry and cut flowers are nice to look at and I always love what I get but this year if you ask it will be something healthy and part of the new me.

Just some random thoughts. Probably should be under the journal entry but here they are anyway.
Just bought Sizzling Salsa to do at home for the 100 Days of Dance challenge. I was actually looking for something more on the lines of Zumba since I just can't see paying the money for Zumba. Well I do not like it!! So I did find out that you can go one line and lots of people put Zumba videos on line and there are lots you can use to help with the fitness. I have found through the challenge that I love Zumba!!
Coach Nicoles videos are just plain awesome!! Some of her exercises can be found on the SparkPeople site and they are very helpful and useful. I just love her. Her videos can be done at 10 minutes a day or you can do one 10 minute video more than once if you need the extra boost or find the one not very challenging. She is just so wholesome and sweet you have to love her!!
Richard Simmons. I do love him too. I bought Sweatin to the Oldies II and found I was not as happy with it as I thought I would be. This past week bought the Sweatin to the Oldies remake video and love it. Both are good but I like the first one better than the second. I can't say anything about his others since these are the only two I have. I especially like the fact that the people that are with him are not all fit and model quality. There are people there like me, overweight and can't find their toes for the tummy! :)
Newest video is one I have heard about and have just did not want to believe it could be fun. But from doing the 5K Walk/Jog challenge last summer I found that walking can be enjoyable. And maybe it has to do with being on the treadmill and enjoying it. But anyway, I just bought Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim 5 Really Big Miles. OMGosh what a great workout and such fun. It is not just walking in place. There is music which is in tempo to how fast the walk is. Then there is the side steps, the tap outs, the grapevine, etc all added in to change it up. If that is not enough, then there is the arm movements thrown in to get you going. And if that is not enough, she has two of her miles with exercise bands added in. Just a good workout. I did the full video last night and my hair was dripping but it felt sooooo gooood!!!
Now here is a thought. Six months ago I was a couch potato or computer facebook junkie and here I am on SparkPeople changing my life and buying exercise videos and talking like I know about eating right! There is no chocolate in my refrigerator and other than tortilla chips no other chips in my cabinets. The refrigerator is full of water, fruit and vegetables. Lots of chicken in the freezer and beans in the cabinets! SparkPeople soups frozen in the freezer for lunches next week. Seven and a half months ago my blood sugar in the morning ran between 250 and 350. Could not get it down. Was put on insulin and upped it to 50 mg a night. I accidentally found SparkPeople six months ago and have since lowered the insulin to 35mg a night and feel better healthwise and am much happier with me!
Where am I today. I am at a place where I feel better about me more than I have in many a year. I have even been offered and accepted other work duties at work. There is talk that they will get me out of the current position I am in and move me to just doing what is new but at this point in my life I have told them that I do believe I can do both and keep up. So far I am doing just fine. Two of the new duties are contests that end December 31st and involve prizes that are considerable and once I get them complete, I will know that the rest of the year will be a breeze. I feel confident I can do this and attribute my new found confidence to what I have learned from SparkPeople! So to end this I say....

I subscribe to DailyGood which is an inspirational site that sends out a short story each day. As I read today's I found myself thinking how fitting. I will be starting to learn a new area of the Chess Federation soon which will broaden my knowledge which is exciting. It will be in an area I am not familiar with so it is also scary. Which also relates to the journey to a healthier life as it is scary but along with the scary is the excitement! Ok, so how does all of this relate to Climbing Moutains? Just take a minute to read the article and you will see. Oh, and for the eight week Diabetes Challenge...spread the Spark. The last item in the Manual for Climbing Mountains states..."Tell your story. Yes, tell your story! Give your example. Tell everyone that it's possible, and other people will then have the courage to face their own mountains."
I hope you are as inspired as I was by this wonderful article. So here is the link, just copy and paste:
