Last week I stepped into a hole in the yard while mowing the lawn. I heard a loud pop sound and then crawled back to the house. I immediately put ice on my knee and propped it up. The next day I was feeling pretty good. Well, yesterday I stepped out of a truck and I heard that pop sound again. This time I didnt get back up to easy. I hate going to the doctors, but I figured I better, because I could not walk.
I am glad I did. I have dislocated my knee and I guess its pretty bad. He gave me 3 choices. 1)Physical therapy- were they tape my knee in place and work to build mussels to hold it there. 2) arthroscopic surgery. The doc could not swear that it would work, but he was hopeful. with a 6 week recovery 3) Full on surgery were he opens up my shin and takes bone and re-constructs my knee with a 6 month recovery am leaning towards the physical therapy and if I can get it to work. It sounds painful, but more cost effective.
How many of you have had knee problems? Has anyone had luck just doing the physical therapy? Has anyone had either of the surgeries the Doc was talking about? How was your recovery? Would you do it again if you had a choice? I am hoping my SP friends wont mind sharing their experiences. It might help make these decisions easier. I dont want to have surgery, but if I do.... I want it to be the most effective
