Meal by Meal.....

An Excerpt from Meal by Meal: 365 Daily Meditations for Finding Balance through Mindful Eating by Donald Altman

Donald Altman provides plenty of ideas and suggestions for being more mindful of the meals we prepare and eat. Here is an excerpt on connections.

January 6

"Each meal, each morsel, is a gift. Even if you are single and eat many meals by yourself, that is why you never really eat alone. Consider for a moment, how each meal brings you into communion with the community at large.

"The earth provides a bounty of food. Farmers plant seeds and harvest crops. Truckers transport food to local distribution centers. Retailers stock the shelves.

"This great chain of being and giving never ends. That you are part of a community and a planet that share food is one of the amazing gifts of being. In the broader sense, is not each meal indeed, everything in your life something that is given? This is true even when you work for your meals because even one's livelihood can be viewed as a blessing.

"Be mindful that each foodstuff connects us to our planet and our community."

I thought I would share this as it is from a book that I keep ready daily now for the last few years. Where the mind goes the body follows.....

It is all in your head

Saturday, March 09, 2013

I was just talking with some one that met Arnold ( the former Governor of California) He said that Arnold stretch his arms out wide and made his muscle jump with out moving a finger. He said it was amazing as he too was a body builder. So he asked him how in the world does he do that. Arnold said it is all from up here and pointed to his head. emoticon

It only shows what a determined mind can do.

Oh, yes! As a student/teacher of ACIM, I REALLY believe our whole lives are in our mind, and that the mind is not within the brain in our heads!

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog.

Have a marvelous weekend!

Oh so true about Arnold not using his brain in other parts of his life.

But you have to remember that for all his prowess in the muscle world, he really messed up a lot of people by not using his head. emoticon

Our minds are very powerful! I visualize myself everyday getting fitter and healthier! I even started visualizing myself making healthier food choices and that is exactly what has been happening here lately.

Take time to try some thing new.

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Today I bought my first sport skort skirt. I had always thought they were fun but how could miss cubby legs wear such a thing. To my surprise they make ones that are a bit longer and a line style. Also they are ones with capris and pants. These are better then wearing long shirts to fill in any gaps.. Oh the fun a girl can have.
So go check out something new. You never know where it may lead.

I am a HUGE fan of skorts and probably own a dozen pairs. The front flap hides so many flaws in my biggest problem area! emoticon

I was drawn to your spark page today from your profile pic....those piglets are too darn cute! Are they anything like a baby havelina?

Last summer while traveling, I happened upon a gift shop and the owner had a pet piglet in the shop. It was so darn cute, and surprisingly his coat was like a bristle brush. Your photos brought back fond memories of my trip to Fountain Hills AZ area, where DH and I made out first trip there to visit my brother. We really loved touring the state of AZ. Every 100 miles or so the terrain changes so uniquely. I did a little hiking with my nephew in McDougal State Park.

emoticon to you on your weight loss of 17#! emoticon You have a great attitude. Keep doing what you are....bit by bit you are moving yourself toward your goals! emoticon
