Inspirational Quotes

Saturday, February 05, 2011

As part of our 21 day challenge we were to find some inspirational quotes and post or blog about them. I found them and wrote them up in Word last night but baby girl started squalking before I could post them. =( So, here thay are...I found them here on SP.

“Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.” Jules Renard

Laziness is what got me here.

“Those who believe they can do something are probably right – and so are those who believe they can’t.”

My stinkin’ thinkin’ is one of the things keeping me here!

“People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing -- that's why we recommend it daily.” Zig Ziglar

This one just made me laugh but it is so true! Every day is a struggle, every day needs to be covered in prayer and every day I must re- energize, re-motivate looking forward to my goals not backwards at my failures. I don’t stay clean and so why am I so surprised that my motivation wavers from day to day.

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.” Kenneth Blanchard

I must be more than interested in losing weight and this healthy lifestyle…I must be committed! No excuses; only results…I love that!

“Know the true value of time; snatch, seize and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness…never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.” Lord Chesterfield

I am such a poor manager of time! I confess it’s true. It’s one of the reasons that I am where I am weight wise. I was much better at it when I was working outside the home…I guess I need a time in clock or a boss waiting for me! =D And I am such a procrastinator! I’m trying to be a reformed procrastinator and I’ve successfully become that in some areas but long way to go! Learning to seize the day! Here’s a song it reminded me of…”Seize the Day” by Carolyn arends www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB0oP
gCexh0

“A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse.” Stephan Dolley Jr.

NO MORE EXCUSES! I will find a way to win this fight against flab. I will be a healthy thin mom who runs joyfully after her kids and not huffing and puffing after them! I WILL be a wife that still turns her hubby’s head! =D I WILL have the energy to do all that the Lord has for me to do!

“It may be alright to be content with what you have, never with what you are.” Anonymous

Always striving to be more like Christ!!

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

This makes me think of James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Those who listen to the word but do not do what it says are like people who look at their faces in a mirror and, after looking at themselves, go away and immediately forget what they look like. But those who look intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continue in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

It also makes me think of the whole “heart knowledge” vs “head knowledge.” I can know what to do but until I do it that knowledge serves no use!

Thanks for sharing, isn't all of it true? Somewhere along the line, that's what got all of us where we are at present. Reality is a big shock sometimes, but oh, so necessary. emoticon

Benefits of Water

Sunday, December 05, 2010

As part of the 21 day healthy habit challenge w/the Christians w/ 100 lbs to lose team we were to choose a healthy habit to focus on and to read an article and share it w/others...

Since I'm restarting my weight loss journey after having a baby 5 months ago I decided to put my focus on water. It had been fairly easy for me to drink my 64+ oz of water daily prior to the pregnancy but I had lost the habit. I had read most all of the articles about drinking water here on SP but I did find an "Ask the Expert" concerning the benefits of water. I knew some of the benefits of being hydrated but some did surprise me.

Here are my faves:
emoticonI knew that water improves complexion...my dh always comments that he can tell by rubbing my upper arm if I've been drinking my water...w/o water I get dry skin bumps and w/water it's smoother. It's one of my faves b/c my dh always notices! =)
emoticonI also new that it prevents water retention...my legs have still been slightly swollen since the pregnancy and c-section but just from drinking my water this week they are smaller!!
emoticonIt also helps control my appetite (another reason it's my 1st healthy habit to work on!).
emoticonI didn't know that it metabolizes fat, (now if I could just direct it to the fat I want it to metabolize first!) carries more blood and oxygen to my face (wrinkle prevention? lol), helps me be less irritable, less stressed (me? irritable and stressed? emoticon) and regulates body temp.

There's a whole lot more b/c the effects of dehydration are a lot. So drink up!If you're curious here's the link:

Hi, I am very slow at getting to all the lovely people on this wonderful site, so many good good people. Thank you for being so patient with me during these past weeks, sometimes it seems everything goes wrong at once, but actually it doesn't, only seems that way. I surely wish I had only a few pounds to lose but not possible now. Try to get rid of excess and keep it off, when you get older it is VERY much more harder to lose. Good Luck, emoticon emoticon

The effect that I like the most is that it flushes out the excess fat. I need it to flush and flush and flush. Also I have learned that quite often I reached for food to eat when in actuality my body just needed water.

Since I joined Spark People, very seldom do I drink anything other than my 64oz. of water. If I do, I still get my water in. You are right on all accounts. I have been doing this for 15 month and I can't believe the differance it makes in my skin, appetite, weightloss, etc. You can also taste your food better. emoticon emoticon

Our Newest Edition

Saturday, July 03, 2010

Hi all! Thank you for the congrats and the many spark goodies! I'm finally getting around to posting pics so here they are!

Dd was born June 21 @ 8:29 am and was 10 lbs 1 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. I am so thankful that I didn't need to go on meds(although Sarah was big!). I gained more lbs than I had wanted during the pregnancy but have already lost most of it (gained 45 lbs (ugh!) and have lost 37 lbs as of this morning). DS is thrilled w/his little sister and loves to help get things for her, sing to her, kiss her and hold her. DH has taken off as much as his work allows and my parents have filled in some of the days that he's had to go to work. I'm learning to accept the help!

I am looking forward to getting back to sparking and losing weight w/my SP friends! I hope to return to full spark in mid August! =) Thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement that you've given me during the pregnancy and always!

DS' Announcement!

Sunday, November 29, 2009

Yes, I'm pregnant!! We are thrilled and thankful to the Lord! We told our families Thanksgiving so I wanted to share the news w/my SP friends!

So, this is why I've had to drop out of some challenges, etc. I hope to get back into full gear after recovering from having the baby. I'm due in late June.
My goals now are:
*to be ok w/seeing numbers on the scale that I promised myself I'd never see again..it's for a good reason =)
*to gain a healthy amount of weight
*stay w/in calorie ranges, continue to eat healthy and drink lots of water
*exercise

I joined BabyFit (SP's site for pregnant and nursing moms). But I'm not finding a whole lot of active support on the teams that I've joined so I'm hoping you all don't mind me gaining as I cheer you all on to your goals. That's how I'm keeping myself motivated. =)

Thanks for all the support you all always give me!

A swimsuit....really?

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I have found that a local school is having water aerobics 2x per week from Sept thru July! I can only attend the Monday class and only 3 out of 4 Mondays b/c of church activities I'm already commited to. I've emailed the teacher and it's ok w/her and she's lessened the price from $42 to $24!! I am seriously considering this but still need to speak to dh.

I can't believe I'm even considering this! I'm not a good swimmer and not very comfortable in deep water (although a dear sp friend has assured me that I'd be safe and that's what life guards are for! lol). Plus, I haven't worn a swimsuit in YEARS!!! I don't even own one in my current size. And the thought of wearing one is frightening!

My mom has agreed to join me for the class but can't until November. Do I dare go alone? In a swimsuit? In public? In possibly deep water? AAARGH! What have you all done to me?!? lol Will see what dh says....may have to pick him up off the floor when I suggest this!

Jenn - I promise you will be okay! You are only in water up to your chest so you don't have to worry about that part. The swimsuit thing is a breeze! No one is going to be paying attention to you. Think about it. All you're thinking about is how you feel and how you look - all the others are doing the same (thinking about themselves). You can get good cardio out of water aerobics and it is a lot easier on the joints.

You can do it!!!!!

Spark Mail me your size. I was wearing a 24 when I started and now I am wearing a 16. I absolutely want to hear that you are in that water! You will love it. Try to get a chlorine proof suit. It will last longer. You will do this and dh just might have to take care of himself while you are getting skinny!

Hey, you know what would be worse than allowing ourselves to become overwieght in the first place? Letting fear keep us here! You need a swimsuit, you need to take that boy swimming even if you didn't do the water arobics, and I am 99% certain the water won't be over your head unless you are under 4ft tall. Good luck with finding a suit. What size I could send you one. Even at my heaviest I tried not to let my size restrict my living any more than necessary, we had a pass at the pool when my grandkids stayed with us. Some of the women at our pool wore t-shirts over their suits and didn't even take them off in the water. I have coverups, and it is rather awkward between the coverup and the pool, but it only lasts for a few seconds. I am so proud of you for doing this, I know it isn't easy, my soon to be skinny friend.

Jenn, I think this is awesome and a very brave thing you are doing! I have watched one of these classes and they look high intensity and FUN! It is usually done in the shallow area of the pool and it will be a great workout!

Have fun and you will have to let us know how your first session went!

You will be fine I have learned through my many years (LOL) that what happens is never even close to what one thought would happen . How I do things now is just jump in to things i went back to school and even learned to drive a fork lift truck (LOL) If i had thought about it I would never had gone so just jump in an enjoy the many joys life has to offer

Be brave! You can do this. In my experience, water aerobics did not take place in the deep end at all, it all happens in water you can walk in. And the only scary part is getting from the locker room to the water. Once you're in the pool, you will not feel so exposed.

And, this is probably the perfect time of year to find a cheap swimsuit on the sale racks!

Go for it!
