Read this on a website and had to share with my fellow Sparks
Achievers talk like achievers. If you want to reach your goal, speak with commitment. Are you going to "try" to lose weight? Or are you going to lose weight? Those who "try" are giving themselves an escape clause. Stop trying and do it.

This was my 2011 Goal -
Lifestyle change is the goal to achieving a healthy mind and body. 2011 is the year of "Just say Yes" That was the start of real commitment. Writing it down and displaying for all to see has helped. I keep it going...
Now 2012 is here and I have completed my first 1/2 marathon, joined a pilates mat class, continue the yoga and tai chi, climbed up and down Portuguese Bend, working on the running with C25K program and will start Birkram Yoga next month. What more could a girl ask for?
I'm now in the lifestyle of being active and healthy and look pretty good too. It's all kicking in and finally realizing (seeing) the results. When I walk past the mirror, sometimes I have to take a second look at say "is that me? wow lookin pretty good" Then I smile and walk away. Reciting the montra, "keep it up cause you're having fun and feeling good" "Don't want to go back to the old ways"
For 2012 I have also committed to the Beach Cities Challenge and will complete (3) 1/2 marathons this year so I can get the "special" medal from participating in 3 consecutive events. It also keeps me on track, because my biggest fear is that I will stop all this activity, but I can't because I have another event coming up that I've committed to. Oh and I've also announced my goal to all my family and friends, and now have something to prove.
Family and friends are calling me to work out with them or join me on my walks. I am searching out new and exciting things to do on the weekend so I can be outside and active. Watch Biggest Loser for motivation. "If they can do it, surely I can do it!"
Can't wait to get on the boat and wakeboard my tushy off this summer. I know all this exercise will give me more endurance and enable me to have longer runs...woo hoo! I have even toiled with the idea of actually buying a bikini. I have not worn a bikini in many years. So a new goal to work towards for summer. I also want to lose another 10 pounds and tone up. The pilates should really do the trick, I just need to make the most of it and really focus when I'm taking the class. It's a lot of fun.
Another goal for 2012 is to look really good for my 10th wedding anniversary. I've got 2 months to get where I want to be...I know I'll make it!
To all my Spark friends
When you wake up each day remind yourself of your goals
Should you slip up one day, forgive yourself and move on
Know that each day you can start anew
So for all you fellow Sparkers...keep up the good work and do what it takes to stay on track.

2011 has been the year of "Just say YES". Say "YES" whenever someone asks me to participate in an activity. Say YES to healthy foods. Say YES to living life. That was my 2011 goal and boy it is working.
I have encouraged friends and family to join me on this journey and it is so much fun to participate in outdoor activities with them. My major concern was not to repeat the past of starting off strong and then petering out, but not this time, I conquered the challenge. Throughout the year of 2011 and into 2012 I have been consistent by setting mini goals along the way and this has kept me focused, accountable, disciplined and on track. Also have to thank my family, friends and Sparkers who have been very supportive and encouraging. I love you guys!
So today is a BIG day because I am celebrating a major milestone. This 2.5 year journey since I started Sparkpeople has led me to the weight I was 10 years ago, when I got married. Woo hoo! I feel stronger, healthier and even got the "X" back in SEXY.
There are so many things I have learned throughout this journey and am more fullfilled. I have strengthened my body, mind and spirit, appreciate the ability to move my body effortlessly, and enjoy my relationships and quality time spent with friends and family.
What I'm trying to say is "I feel liberated" and my options for participating in life have opened up. For example the activities I've been doing throughout this time like; hiking, 5K-10K-1/2 marathon races, yoga, tai chi, pilates, and more have become a desire, a challenge and just plain fun. I find myself looking for the next new thing I can do...like never before. For example I will be trying a month of Birkram Yoga, want to go Kiyaking in the summer, can't wait to get on the boat this summer and wakeboard the longer runs. Look forward to hiking in all areas of PV, Malibu and maybe get up to Yosemite in 2012. The options are unlimited and I just want to explore them all.
So to those of you who know me, thank you for all your support and joining me in this journey. For those of you who are on your own journey, keep saying "YES".
Love to all...Cynxoxo

Sick for two days with a really bad cold. Really wanted to get better so I could show up for the special day that I had been looking forward to and working so hard for, so I was gonna make it no matter what. Stayed in bed for two days, my loving husband nurtured me and I took everything under the sun so I could make it for the 1/2 marathon. Besides which, didn't want to let my walking buddy down.
So Sunday morning I rose at 5am. got my butt in the shower, dressed in my new workout clothes, and had egg whites and toast for breakfast. instead of tea, made myself some theraflu and took it to go in the car. Hubby was concerned but assured him I was ok and not going to cave. So my buddy arrived with her daughter and we were all packed up in the car by 5:45am ready to roll.
When we arrived in Huntington Beach the excitement got the better of me and I was more than ready to get started. We parked approximately 1 mile from the start line, so that was our warm up time. We immediately hit the restroom before hitting the start line and were ready to roll. The family wished us well, took a few photo's and Marcela and I got in line. Silly us, we started with the runners so off we went running on the sidelines and quickly found our own pace. What a rush! OMG it was amazing, all these people and what a beautiful day. We walked at a swift pace and came upon bands on the sidelines that helped to keep us motivated along the long road. Then there was a turnoff up a hill. Our Spark buddy told us that there was a hill that we'd have to traverse and because we had trained up a hill that was quite steep in Redondo (our neighborhood) this one seemed like a cakewalk...we were cool! So we enjoyed the detaur and change of pace. Whenever we needed we stopped at the local Porta Potty. Often times, not too bad and also grabbed the occasional water offered by the volunteers.
It was comforting, exciting and pretty cool to see the diverse crowd that took the same challenge we decided to conquer. Everyone around us seemed to be happy, proud and there for their own reasons. All smiling, chatting and there till the finish. How cool. As time passed, my walking buddy, Marcela and I chatted less but remained in sync and were happy to have each other by our side. The weather was great and was getting warmer as the hours passed. As we hit the 9 or so mile we found ourselves walking down the coast with the ocean breeze hitting our bodies, and boy...what a relief it was from the heat. People started to appear on the sidelines cheering us on and providing encouragement. We started to look at the pacers to see what our time was and Marcela asked me to slow down because she doesn't do well in the heat. Here I was the sick one and setting the fast pace, guess my adrenaline was taking over.
As we got closer I text my daughter so we could get them to capture the Finishing shot. She was great and encouraging us the whole way with texts like "good job" "proud of you" "keep it up" But when it came to 1 mile out, she texts " run it in" "make us proud", so I said to Marcela, "we gotta run now"...we were hot and she looked at me like I was crazy, but I was serious and the thought of our families seeing us walking over the finish line was NOT an option so when the time came I said "we can just jog it in and together into the finish...So we did. Then we looked for our family as we crossed the finish line, time was 3.42, wow what a feeling, we did it!
Then we looked around and saw Iman and Lisa holding a sign and Andre snapping our pictures. How great, yep we did it!!! Woo Hoo....
Training, dedication and mind over matter is what got us to the finish line Now we're thinking...what's next? We'll let you know...and BTW, thanks for all your support, we love ya!
