Dash away - Week 1

Sunday, December 04, 2011

I'm part of the Biggest Loser Challenge here on SP, and we're between rounds so some of us are participating the the Dash Away Challenge over the holidays, to help stay accountable... for the first week the challenge is to post a blog post about what my biggest challenge is over the next 5 weeks, and how I'm going to overcome it... so, this is it :)

First Challenge is getting more planned exercise into my week.

I have been wearing exercise clothes under my uniform - for warmth and to be ready to go. I meet with a trainer Tuesday and Thursday mornings and must incorporate more time during the week.

I went after work tonight and managed 3 miles, plus practicing several poses that I have completed with my trainer.

one of my goals is to decrease size of my waist - so I did lunges with a weighted ball.

Usually have yoga class on Monday, but teacher is gone until 12/22, so I am going to try to get to gym in AM.

Second challenge is to drink more water.
My goal is to finish 32 oz. in AM and another quart in afternoon.

Third goal is a group potluck each Sunday that I work. Today, I took a roasted
chicken and we finished it off at supper. Otherwise, I take veggies or salads, that I can eat.

Five Motivations

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Five motivations to help me stay focused thru the next ten weeks:

1. Make a grocery list before I shop, with meals that we will eat and not toss.
2. Plan whole foods meals for suppers.
3. Subsitute fresh fruit for (smash them first) processed goodies.
4. Log on to SP daily.
5. Complete exercise before work, when you have more energy.
6. Keep logging pedometer totals on calender.
7. Track nutrition daily.
8. Drink a quart of water in AM and again in the PM!
Keep water bottle with you.

Hi Fran - It has been awhile and you probably don't remember me but we are on a team together and you invited me to be a friend back in January - emoticon, yup January. I am such a stickler for making sure I acknowledge everyone and not just add friends for the sake of adding, if you know what I mean.

It was just meant to be that I do this as I love this blog and it is just what I needed for today. If you don't mind I would like to use it for my weekly challenge in the virtual walk/run team I lead.

It is really nice to come to someone's page after 6 months and still see them active on Spark - keeps me motivated.

Have a great night.

This sounds like a fantastic plan. I love it!!! And I think it's time for me to do some short-term goal setting again too. It's such a great way to motivate. I wish you the very best of luck in following through on your goals.

I too make a grocery list every time I go shopping for the meals I have planned to make for the week. It's twofold: helps me plan my meals out in advance, and I don't spend as much money because I only buy what I absolutely need, and avoid buying other stuff that I definitely don't need to have. I also keep a water bottle with me throughout the day. It holds 32oz so if I drink the whole thing twice, I've consumed by 8 glasses of water for the day, but lately I've been finding myself drinking the whole thing 3 times/day! Yay for extra water!

This week's inter-team challenge is to write a blog listing 5 things that motivate me to make healt

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

1. I joined the team for more self accountability. I have been sliding along too long.

2. I am in the progress of repairing my varicose legs, and sure don't need extra stress of having a "muffin top".

3. Both my husband and I will feel better as we plan out our evening meal and eat at home.

4. We will save more money, while eating less junk foods.

5. It is fun to find new ways to prepare different dishes, and encourage co-workers and family to gradually change.
