You can’t get far in life if you don’t have any goals. They serve as both a starting point and ending point- giving you both direction and a destination to head for. They serve as a road map or, at times, a complex set of directions that get us from point A to point B in life.
Without a plan in place, we will get lost, find ourselves navigating difficult terrain, or find ourselves stuck driving around in the same old circle day after day after day. The stage will be set for boredom, frustration, anger, fear, and depression to enter our lives.
Some people are okay with wandering around aimlessly. A lucky few use this time as a period of self-discovery. But, to be successful even they eventually settle down with some type of goal in place.
Essentially having a plan, or a set of outcomes, to reach makes our lives easier. They provide you with a:
• A sense of purpose in life
• A sense of personal control in our lives
• A sense of accomplishment once the final destination has been reached.
• A boost in self esteem and confidence
• A sense of success
