LOOK WHAT FLEW IN TODAY!!!

Thursday, September 02, 2010

This Blimp is giving rides to the local area residents over Labor Day Weekend.
Just so happens it turns around in my back yard in the middle of the bay.

A few more shots of this awesome sight.

The Blimp made several trips over head today, I was surprised because it is a little windy today, that they would brave the wind.
Living here I never know what I will see next in my back yard.

    What beautiful pictures. I have always wanted to ride in a blimp, the goodyear airport is about 6 miles from here, but it is my understanding that they no longer take up passengers.
You sure do have some place special to see all the beautiful things around you.

SECRET PIRATES HIDEOUT

Thursday, September 02, 2010

Along the beach here there is a secret pirates hideout the children worked most of the summer months on this structure, it even has a gang plank so they can stand on top to look for the ships approaching from around the the bay by Camino Island and Whidbey Island, they really did a great job and thus far it has weathered all of the storms that has blown in off of the sound.

    Oh how I would love to have joined the children in this endeavor! As a landlocked child in Southern Calif, we made forts and buried treasures ( rocks, the toys from CrackerJack, and marbles) in empty BandAid tins. This was a trip down memory lane. Looks like the kids did a good job. Team work is great. Hugs, Patty

    Now that is very fun!!

As a kid, I grew up living on the shores of Lake Huron. My friends and I tried every year to build a land bridge from our town to Mackinac Island. An impossible task at best, but provided many a fun summer working on it together. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything!

Thanks, Sandy, for sharing with all of us.

Hope you have a great rest of the week.....Bill

MY TRANS AMERICA WALK PROGRESS FOR AUGUST

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

1106.0 mi - "9.00 mi to Eddyville, IL", Pope County
"Section: 10 Map Name: Ohio River, 117"

WooHoo!!!! Illinois finally out of Kentucky but it sure was pretty there, looks like this state will be a little less green and a lot less hilly.
I managed to walk 124 miles in the month of August, I did not set a goal for the month but worked on walking daily to see how many miles I could walk on a normal month without pushing myself to meet a goal. I think I did pretty good since a lot of the month was spent in the Jeep going to and from home to the beach house.

This is the local map of the area.

This is the picture of the USA that shows where I am on my walk across America.

Where are you on your trek across this great land of ours?

    I started started on May 11, 2010 and I love it so far, I am still in Virginia, and really enjoying the hike, it looks like Illinois will be a short state, about the only short one we will encounter, I see Idaho is not that bad either. I made 111.4 miles in the month of August, I try for about 3 miles a day,
I really enjoyed looking at your progress, as I can look at mine along with you. I'll see you down the road. emoticon

~~~THE BEAUTY OF NATURE~~~
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
The Lord put us on this earth to enjoy life and to take in the beauty and live with all that nature has to offer.
Growing older is a blessing as we learn about the world as we go experiencing all the things that are put here for us to enjoy the true things that the Lord gave us not the man made things.
I will be celebrating a mile stone birthday this year in fact in October I will be 60 I am so blessed to be able to celebrate this birthday with joy and happiness. So embrace life and live your life with joy and happiness as that is what the Lord wants us to do.
I am sitting writing this on the laptop as I look across the bay at a beautiful Bald Eagle fly overhead and sea gulls soaring in the sea breeze.
The sailboat is passing and the sails are up as it sails across the waters. I can hear children playing in the sand below on the beach. This is what life is like in my world today.
I hope everyone is enjoying the sights and sounds in your life today. Sandy
    I've said it before, I feel that we are kindred spirits as we see things in the same light. My time in Alaska afforded me an opportunity to see the beauty of nature closer than is possible in large cities. From the smallest grain of sand to the large ice bergs, from the tiny salmon to the giant whales, the wonder of the ocean is just a tiny part of natures bounty that God has given us. Thanks for sharing and being you.
===A FRESH START===
Monday, August 23, 2010
I enjoy doing laundry because I think about getting a fresh start.
I wake up in the morning to a day that is new, a never-been-lived-before kind of day.
Am I a little to joyful? Sometimes I meet people that think I am a little to joyful, that I am ducking reality and ignoring the painful facts of life. But I simply tell them I'm not ignoring the facts, I'm just looking at them and trying to find joy not misery.
We all know there are 365 day in a year, but I believe there are only three days we should be concerned about dealing with correctly. Two of those days we can do nothing about---yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday is a cancelled check and tomorrow is a promissory note. But today is cash ready for us to spend in living, and that's why I say wake up and rejoice and take advantage of the FRESH START. There are no mistakes, nothing has happened and nobody has goofed it up ---we've got today! We've got another chance !
So for all of you who think that the day has been wasted or messed up you have a FRESH START each and every day you wake up as we cannot let our burdens paralyze our progress.
-------DON'T FORGET-------
Life is about 10 percent how you make it and 90 percent how you take it.
You can be as happy as you decide to be, it depends on how you look at things.
I hope you will think about this and wake up every day to a day that is new, a never-been-lived-before kind of day.
    I agree with you a 100%, Sandy.
In addition....every night before hitting the hay, I make the decision that tomorrow will be a great day. That way when I wake up in the morning I don't have to waste any effort deciding whether I had enough sleep, if things are going the way that I like them....I don't have to do anything but have a great day. Oh, things sometimes go a little off to the left or off to the right of where I think they could have been....but, hey.....I already decided that it was going to be a great day. So I have learned to go with the flow.
Enjoy the day....Bill
