Repairs Delayed Due to Approaching Storm that Threatens the East Coast

Monday, September 05, 2011

We left the hotel and are back home, thank God. There are huge machines downstairs dehumidifying and drying out the structure of the house.

When they removed the wood flooring they found asbestos tile and of course all work stopped because it had to be removed by specialists. It took a few days for them to remove and make sure that the house was safe.

The decision has been made to dry the houses structure but not make the repairs yet because there is another storm that could threaten the east coast in a few days.

We are remaining prayerful, flexible and keeping our bags packed.

Again, please join me in praying for those who flooded a few days ago in New Orleans and surrounding states and for those in the path of the approaching storm that is threatening Islands and the East Coast. One life lost is too many.

Texas is burning due to a lack of water and the east coast is drowning in too much water. You are so right - sometimes there is no answer for "why?" I am so glad you and yours are safe. Stuff is just stuff and houses are just buildings but losing either is such a tragedy. I hope you get everything fixed and put back to right.

Thankful

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

They say that the storm was not as bad as others but for some it was worst. Eighteen people lost their lives during this storm and one life lost is a tragedy. Many homes and businesses were destroyed. In one town in North Carolina the people cannot get back home because all of the roads and bridges were completely destroyed. Anything that happens to change the course of ones life can be very stressful and for some, things will never be the same.

Personally, I am sitting in this hotel room at 4 in the morning thinking about how the storm has disrupted our lives. But with all the disruption, my children and grandchildren are safe and sleeping in their own beds tonight and for that I am thankful. I thought about those who did not have insurance and don't have family around. Where are they sleeping tonight? I pray that God will be their covering and keep them safe. I want God to help me to be more of a blessing to others and not just lip service. I have come to realize that sometimes there are no answers for the question, why? One thing for sure is, tomorrow will come and life goes on.

I am looking forward to the sun rising this morning.

I hope the day will soon come when we finally understand that we are all interconnected and that we are responsible for one other. I hope it won't take horrible catastrophes to finally learn this truth.

Thanks Everyone

Sunday, August 28, 2011

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers during the storm, Irene. We did flood but it could have been worst. We could have been inside when the tree fell on the side of the house.

Dealing with Flood insurance went pretty smoothly. We called the people who dried us out the last time and they came right out and went to work. They should have the fans and dehumidifier up and running after they finish removing my hard wood floors, tonight. It should take about 5 days for it to dry out before anything else can be done. They also restore so we are going to have them to do the whole job this time.

Tomorrow the Homeowners insurance adjuster will come out and assess the damage from the wind; shingles in the yard and the tree leaning on the house. So we will stay upstairs tonight but will most likely go to a hotel tomorrow.

All and all we know that we are blessed because we are safe and we are aware that it could have been much worst.

Thanks again everyone and please continue to pray for those who have been affected by this storm.

Sounds like you are staying sane in the midst of the storm. I'm glad no one was hurt and that damages are manageable.

Please Join With Me In Praying for the East Coast and for the Islands

Thursday, August 25, 2011

We had the largest Earthquake on the East Coast this week and now they are saying that the largest hurricane is headed our way.

The approaching hurricane is causing concern right now. We have decided not to stay home for this one. During the last storm in 2009 we flooded and the thought of having to go through the restoration process again is not something that we are looking forward to.

Also, the projected sustained winds are very concerning.

I cannot explain what I am feeling right now. I haven’t finished hanging pictures from the last flood that we had. I don't want to sound ungrateful because I am thankful that everyone made it through safely. Maybe I am just dreading the unknown. Right now I am battling the "what if's" but I know that God will help me to focus on His promises, more so than what's happening around us.

Our prayers are for everyone who is being affected by this hurricane and that we all use wisdom and that God keeps us all safe.

It's surreal until someone takes the rose coloured glasses off, thank you for pointing out the somberness. I had become desensitized to these destructive things and insensitive.

Change

Monday, July 11, 2011

I removed the blog that I posted “Moving Forward” because thanks to my friends I realize that I was still trying to hold myself to standards that were impossible for me to keep, which would have lead to failure.

I really appreciate all of you for reminding me that the important thing for me is lifestyle change and the weight loss is the icing on the cake.

No daily weighing for me, thank you, thank you, thank you!

This is a new day and I am going to enjoy it. I will still keep a daily log at the end of the day but I will enjoy walking and start playing my games again.

One day at a time, one step at a time.

Yes, that is right! If you are too strict on yourself you will falter. I don't think you will fail, just get discouraged. It isn't easy, but we need to be determined to be healthy, and the weight loss will follow. Make sure to add enough calories each day, once you do aroebic exercise on a regular basis. SP tracker should give you an idea. If you aren't using the tracker: Check this site out for information and even the calorie cycling, which is what I started doing this week. So far I am loving it!

I can't stress the importance of setting realistic goals. I struggle being patient with myself - I seek quick, impressive results and that I want them with as little effort as possible. Accepting modest gains is perhaps one of the most important tools we need in our quest to get and stay fit. emoticon
