2013 Day 22 Sucks Getting Sick

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Well folks, I went to the clinic last night and the verdict is in. I have strep throat. Bleh. I am currently on antibiotics and had to take a day off of work. I hate missing work. There's always so much to do to get caught back up. Oh well, I consider myself lucky. Apparently one of the senior girls has mono. Things could always be worse!

A downside to my throat being so raw is that I haven't been able to eat much. An upside is that I haven't been that hungry. Yesterday I ate a bunch of mandarin oranges and a lot of throat soothing drops while I wait for the antibiotic to kick in. Today it's soup and sherbet. I sure haven't had a problem with staying under my calories.

I've been reading a lot of SP success stories lately. I've lost about 40 pounds and am nowhere near close to being at my goal weight but I will keep trudging along. Because one day I want to be able to stand up and say I did it too!

2013 Day 20 That Answers That

Monday, January 21, 2013

I am sick. I have a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, a fever, and I'm weak. My issue is that the timing of everything makes me think that either a) I don't have the flu, I have an infection that's causing this; or b) I have 2 issues...the flu AND an infection.

Anybody know...is swollen lymph nodes BEFORE sore throat and fever and everything else part of the flu?

2013 Day 19 A Crap-tastic Day

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Well, I have pretty much had a bad day all around. I ate horribly, hardly any nutrition. I didn't get my planned breakfast muffins made. Spent the day at the shop doing nothing but staring at the computer screen. And I have two sore spots on my neck which makes me think my lymph nodes are swollen again. Argh!

Ok, enough of the self pity. At least the sun was out and I got to have the office door open due to the warmer temperatures. It was enjoyable having the fresh air. If I hadn't been working I would have gone for a walk. If it's nice enough tomorrow I will. I'm pretty sure I stayed within my calories today and if I went over it can't have been by much. I tracked everything but sometimes when you eat something made by someone else, it's hard to gauge the calorie content.

Each day is a new day, a fresh start.

2013 Day 18 Winding down the day

Saturday, January 19, 2013

It's been another busy week for me. I am anticipating the arrival of April 7 because that will mean that prom is over. I didn't even go to my own prom and this year I get to help plan it. On the bright side, the student officers are super helpful and they're supposed to be doing most of the work anyway.

Hmmm, I sat down with something planned out to say and now that I'm here on my blog...I can't seem to remember. Oh well, maybe after a good night's sleep. I'm trying a new recipe tomorrow for muffins made with cottage cheese and egg as the main ingredients. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Enjoy the weekend!

I never went to my Prom either, and that was 43 years ago! I long ago decided I did not miss anything, because I was more interested in just Graduating and getting to College so I could "start" my life!!! Funny how that sounds now at 60 years old...now I just want everything to slow down because my life has gone by so fast it seems! Do let us know how those muffins turn out, they sound good!

2013 Day 17

Friday, January 18, 2013

Well, I made it through Thursday. I only have to make it through one more day and then it's a 3 day weekend! I am just counting the days until April 7. Then prom will be over and all I will have left to do as class sponsor this year will be to help serve cake and punch at the baccalaureate service in May.

I'm starting to wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew at work with this remediation class I just started teaching this week. 2 semesters of Algebra 2 crammed into one semester and we started after everyone else was a week and a half into their semester. I hope I can fit everything into the short amount of time we have left

Well, enough about work. Today I became a co-leader for one of my SP groups. There are SO many people in the group and I don't think even 1% of them are active anymore. Granted, it has been a year and I did join up at a time when weight loss resolutions run rampant. But still, when you have 30,000+ members, and only 5 or 6 are posting, it makes me sad to think of all those people who have probably given up.

I am so thankful that I was pointed in the direction of this website just over a year ago. It has changed my outlook on getting healthier. I know I can actually do it with this site and all of my wonderful friends and teammates.

I see you are new and jumping in with both feet. Good for you. I decided to give SP a try after years of WW and TOPS. I would do well for a few months and quit. With SP I found that there is so much here and a benefit of it being free is pretty awesome.

I have found so many new friends and have learned a lot about myself I never knew. I have slowly developed some habits and the biggest thing is I haven't quit. I had lost about 40 gained back 30 and then bought a Fitbit. I have always hated to exercise and have walked in the past and gotten bored with it Oddly enough Fitbit motivates me.

While working in Kazakhstan I have walked 10000 steps a day and will continue when I get back. I have many friends inside and outside of SP who have joined me in on the internet We are able to see what the others walk and encourage each other.

I got on a scale here and I believe I have lost 25 since being on Fitbit. I will know when I get home.. Hoping to get to Onederland soon.

As far as the teams I have found I have some teams I don't participate in any more. They weren't the right fit. I spend a lot of time on SP so I had to limit the choice. Maybe that is the case for many on your team.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Good luck

    Jenn, a few sayings:

'We are never given more than we can handle at any given time'
'You ARE always in the right place at the right time'
'Life is full of surprises'

Looking forward to working with you to make our team a positive and a very active team. We all joined at the same time and we are all looking forward to our prom night.

    Algebra!

I so loved algebra. To me it was a puzzle to be solved. And when the boys were taking it in High school. I couldn't wait to help them with their homework.
