23-January-2012 ---Making time for SP LIVE meeting!

Monday, January 23, 2012

I decided to work 10 hours on Tuesdays so I can leave work at 2:30 PM on Mondays to make my 3:00 PM SP LIVE Meeting each week. I really like Krystie's class and the way she organizes it. Basically people are respectful and turn their microphones off unless they are talking and they use the "Put your hand up" sign when you want to talk. I popped into another class for a couple minutes and it wasn't the case and it was very hard to hear anyONE person. So, it turned me off...and now thank goodness Krystie is doing later nights which work better on this side of the globe. :) Hopefully one day I can be a coach and then there will be more times in this time zone. :)

This week's Challenge:

1. Choose 3 of the goals listed on homework and decide which 3 I will stick to during 2012. The 3 I choose are:
-Experiment with different types of grains. I have them all in the house, but don't tend to use them all the time because some need soaking, etc. I need more recipes and that is what I will work on this week as well.
- Try one new recipe over the next week and tell us about it next week....see above :)
- Provide a spark by creating a Vlog on my sparkpage about WHY I love SP LIVE!
Will do that sometimes this week. :)

2. Krystie asked us to set some goals and make the goal date our Birthday...mine is June 3rd....my 40th!!! :) WHOOP WHOOP!!!
Since I can barely walk now and on blood thinners until then...I have BIG plans...LOL
My 1/2 sleeve tattoo will be done as soon as I am able...which hopefully be my Birthday! Jem and The holograms, Scooby do, and wonder woman...:) Happy Things!
And get back on my skates, get to derby and karate and and actually live the Patty way! Do now, think later! :)

As far as my weight is concerned...I have been maintaining for the last 8 months while I had my appendix and gallbladder removed and had a broken ankle and now clots...it has stayed within 3 pounds the whole time...drugs, swelling, no movement, bad food thanks to relying on other people to feed me, etc! So I am proud of that, but I'd like to bump it up a notch and get into Wunderland :) So 6 months should be plenty of time. I can't control many things lately, but I CAN control what I put in my mouth and that is what I need to do. Period. Forever! :) I also have "Become a Sparkpeople Coach" by then as well - on my vision board.

Gotta do those chair exercises and move as much as I am able until I can shake my booty and dance around the house again and hit the gym!

It'll get done...I'm not worried...medically life has just sort of happened...and I have had to learn to be patient, accepting, and just do what I can when I can. My doctor said my eating is as close to perfect as it can be so now I just have to wait for the swelling and healing to continue. :)

Off to bed. Good night! Attend a LIVE meeting...and try more than one incase you have an experience like I did. They are NOT all the same. :)

Monday January 16th - Back To Routine

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Well Monday morning has arrived. After 10 weeks, I had to recharge my car battery from not driving it, take it in for it's warrant of Fitness and Registration as well this morning. Here in new Zealand they always give you courtesy cars (if you're lucky) that are SOOOO much older and uglier and cheaper than your own. I'm always a bit embarrassed at what I have to drive around in...I am fortunate to drive a nice BMW which are WAY cheaper here than in the states. :) But they always give me hoopty and once I got a white car with the passenger door slammed in...like it was hit!!!! I couldn't believe it. Customer service in this country is not very good for the most part...not like America...but when I do find someone that takes care of me "PROPERLY" I am loyal and send them sooooo much business it's crazy! I have a big mouth that isn't always used for evil :) he he he I myself am a customer service Nazi. I expect the kind of service I give...rarely happens. I was trained in CS by Kohler and Nordstrom....enough said! So...that's all for my morning rant. :)

On saturday I worked a half day to help out at work and then went to a family BBQ...70th B-day party for Earl's auntie. Knowing that the family is Maori I hate HEAPS of veggies, 9 oz chicken breast, and wholemeal pita before going. Maori have REALLY yummy food...especially if it's a Hangi...but usually not a green vegetable in sight. That's why they are some of the biggest people on the planet! Polynesian boys are yummy...but man are their genetics a mess...diabetes, heart disease...etc. If you watched The Biggest Loser with Sione and Filipe...you get the idea! BUT by the time we ate it as about 7:30/8 PM and so I went to see what, if anything I could eat...I brough some protein bars along incase as well...turned out that they had chicken breasts on skewers and 2 salads that were fresh and so good! YEA!!!!! After my second plate of fresh salad I realized that there was DARK GREEN leaves in it...not spinach...but silverbeet. So I googled and it was high in vitamin K as well but not as high as spinach. OOPS! These blood thinner rules are gonna be the death of me! LOL Oh well. Anyway...I did great and I even had a little Pavlova. YUM!

Saturday's DAY 6 of 100 days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle:
PROTECT YOUR PROGRAM:
Instead of depending on others to help your be successful with your diet, make a commitment that you will protect your program at all costs! Anytime you feel pressured to eat something, sidestep the food pusher by saying "not just yet; I'm going to wait a little while."

Ummm....I guess I was raised by my german grandparents who always said what they wanted and didn't care of they offended anyone! HA! I am the same way when it comes to this. I just say No thank you....and I bring my own food places all the time. Nobody seems to argue with me or bait me into eating, etc. I think it helps that I have never drank alcohol or eat furry animals and don't want kids..and so I feel confident turning people down and not caring if they don't like it! :)
It's my butt, my body, my heart, my health, my medical bills...etc. MY CHOICE! NOT YOURS! So this day's assignment just sort of rolled off my back since I'm quite good in this.

Sunday's Day 7 of 100 Days of Weight loss by Linda Spangle
I CAN DO IT!
Practice saying the words "I CAN DO IT" over and over. Write them on sticky notes, then post them on your mirror, your computer screen, and your car dash.
Read them many times a day, maybe even 100 times. Push them deep into your mind and use them as powerful affirmation that you WILL succeed with your plan.

Again...I always do this sort of thing and just redid my vision boards (I need more than 1 due to each area of my life I want to achieve things for) and always read positive books and make pot its all over the house.

DAY 8 of 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle:
HELP ME, PLEASE...

To get support instead of criticism from people you love, you may have to train them. Set up agreements with your support people by saying "It will help me if..." followed by what you want them to do. Be sure you also let people know the things you DON'T want them to do or say.

This lesson is something I have tried a bizillion times. It usually doesn't work because my "support" people are going through their own junk. I ask and then I leave it alone. Like the lesson above..I PROTECT MY PLAN! Poo-pooers need to just go away or join me!

Okay....well, I'm caught up now. Sorry this was SOOOOOO long!!! :) Hope everyone has a great week!

Friday January 13th - Back to work and blown up

Friday, January 13, 2012

Today I went back to work for the first time in 9 weeks! That's crazy! Gotta love New Zealand...I broke my ankle falling at derby practice and I have free health care, job security and got paid the entire time I was home! Thank YOU!!!!

It was nice to get back to work and the clients missed me and my pleasant phone manner. The girls that filled in for me were young and don't really do the upselling, offering a different appointment if the first was taken, etc. Blunt and honest. LOL I am American Customer Service Nazi...so it's totally different! :) Nice they notice!

By 3:45 PM my foot and ankle were soooooooooooo sore, blown up and tight I laid on the couch at work and I am home and have my foot elevated as fas up as I can! OMG! The swelling is insane. I just want to pop it! Still can't do much standing up for long times, but I try to do some sort of exercise. Today didn't happen...except work...way too full of ouchness! :)

Day of 100 Days Of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle -
Magic Notebook - ummmm...I'll d the exercise but I don't see how it will help...but I'm game...I'll see if it matters. Making a list of foods I love and describing them just makes me hungry. LOL

Free health care must be wonderful. Hope your ankle gets better soon.

Certainly is a plus to be able to collect your pay while out with injury. Sorry to hear it ankle swelled up wpon returning to work after all the time you were home taking good care of it. It would be beneficial if you could elevate the ankle periodically during the day at work, may keep the swelling down to a minimum; also putting an ice bag on the ankle for 10 minutes from time to time during the day would help to.

Glad to hear you were able to go back, but it sounds like your ankle isn't quite ready. :(

Hope you don't suffer too much this week.

WOW you are lucky about your job!
Ouch on the whole foot and ankle at work. Do you have the option to take short breaks every hour to elevate at work?
I would recommend you do some foot flexing if you can while you elevate this might help the circulation in the swollen area.
I hope you feel better soon emoticon

January 12th - Back to work tomorrow

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Well after like 9 weeks off of work...tomorrow I will return. I have mixed emotions. I love NOT working but I love my job and the people I work for, and the perks, so it's cool. I still can't walk very well and still VERY swollen..and I have to have my bloodwork done on my way to work tomorrow for my INR levels...so it'll be an adjustment but meals are planned and my lunch is packed! :)

Today's lesson from 100 Days of Weight loss with Linda Spangle - Boundaries...not diets. This one spoke to me because the one single thing I have had to "adjust" about my weight loss journey is the ALL OR NOTHING attitude. If I eat something not on plan...I would mess up the rest of the day...now...no more. Works so much better that way! LOL

Still having aftershocks today...he he he...I hear them before they hit and just watch everyone else react. LOL

Better try and sleep early! Up at 6 AM tomorrow!

Jan. 11 - My man's finally home

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Today Earl finally came home from the hospital after 9 days! He dodged heart surgery thank goodness. Hopefully he listens to the doctors now since he hasn't listened to me in the 5+ years I have been here and trying to help him. :)

he made a comment that was like "I was thinking you should soar now that I won't be complaining and fighting you every step of the way and at every meal! LOL" I cook 2 meals a night sometimes because as I said yesterday...NOBODY can make me do or eat something I don't want! LOL

Pretty relaxed day today. Tomorrow is my last day off of work...it's been 72 days off of work!!! Hopefully keeping my foot up and having my arm pain reducing will be sweet by Friday morning! :)

Day 3 of 100 Days of Weight loss by Linda Spangle -
Today was about - DO IT ANYWAY...don't feel like doing it? DO IT ANYWAY! Piggybacks on yesterday's lesson of are you interested or committed?! If you're committed...YOU DO IT ANYWAY!!!!! :)
By doing these 100 days, so far I have learned that I have come a VERY long way from my old toxic excuses and whining and have a pretty good headspace :) YEA!

Have a good night!
