Another visit to the hospital! I'm serious!!! LOL

Sunday, November 06, 2011

I went to a Derby casual skate last night and was doing great...until I stopped and lost my footing and fell. My ankle went outward and I heard a pop. Got carried out of the gym and went to hospital. Diagnosis is fracture of fibula ankle lateral malleous left AOB2 with talar shift- if it stays stable in cast no surgery. If it shifts - surgery. Will know in 1-2 weeks. Have to keep elevated for 2 weeks. I did it good man! So bummed! 6 weeks off work...again! Thank god for New Zealand employment security and free healthcare!!!!

My ankle...OUCH!

Cast number 1! Have to go back every week for a new cast and xrays!

I have learned in the last 2 months that I just have to go with the flow. Relax. Stop stressing and just get better :)
derailed AGAIN from my goals...but there's other goals I have been slack on that I can now tackle from bed!!! Stay positive! :)

Sometimes You Just Have to Go Old School

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Since I had my gallbladder removed in August and had to recover for 6 weeks, I have maintained my weight...gained a couple pounds and lost them, etc. But pretty much the same. I started getting almost obsessed with no sugar, no treats, no, anything processed or packaged...blah blah...ya' know what everyone including the amazing Jillian preaches 24/7....well, this is what I found out...I felt deprived, crabby, and it was hard to stick to the plan...and being an all or nothing perfectionist...if I go off plan...I GO OFF PLAN!!!! LOL So...I went to the grocery store this weekend and went back to OLD SCHOOL groceries. Granola bars, WW desserts, "treats:...healthy ones...but it gives me something to look forward to everyday. And I have started losing more again...2.5 lbs in 2 days so far...and I'm not hungry..I'm not craving things, and I'm not thinking about food 24/7. I think sometimes when someone like me tries to go ALL NATURAL it just bores me and creates extra stress and work...Rinsing and soaking and cooking lentils and Quinoa...etc. Seriously...Bravo to those of you who can be PURE 24/7...but like my hair and makeup...I am the Anti-natural...HA HA HA I know I'll maybe get there later, but right now...I'm doing what works.

Today I woke up with a VERY sore throat, so I am already in bed...it's 7:30 PM! :) Glad tomorrow is Friday and I have planned a DO NOTHING weekend to rest and be lazy. Next weekend derby skating begins and work has been crazy....so a weekend to rejuvenate and relax will rock!

Have I told you how much I LOVE SP?! I am still using my Bodybugg and LOVE IT...but now that I get how it works and what my targets are, etc I can go back to using SP for food tracking and still tracked calories burned! :) I got this! :)

Hope everyone is doing well...I just can't wait to get rid of this stupid sore throat and go out skating!!!!!

I've missed you! :)

Monday, October 10, 2011

Well...it seems like forever since we spoke...and heres a crazy reasons why....
Since I started using my bodybugg, I have been logging my food there and by hand, etc and sometimes on SP. I use SP often on my iPhone, however for the last 3 weeks s
SP isn't loading fast enough or completely, or whatever and I just don't have the time to sit and wait for it! FRUSTRATED!!!! It does it at work too...so I have been trying and trying with little success. But thought I'd try and update you so you didn't think I fell off the earth...or lost another organ! :)

I am doing okay :) I started seeing Dr. Patterson Stark and had lots of blood tests done and found some things that were off. He is also coaching me with my health, nutrition, and body in general. I started exercising after my 6 weeks of waiting after surgery and immediately plateaued! He said stop with the weights...just keep walking...add weights later! Again...FRUSTRATED!!!! I LOVE LIFTING WEIGHTS & RESISTANCE TRAINING! But as soon as I stopped, the weight started coming off nicely with the mix of nutraceuticals he has me on from Nutri-West. I am feeling pretty good. Just miss the gym. :(

I am joining Roller Derby next month so that'll get me some FUN cardio! Can't wait. Still working on Book. Still studying nutrition.

Started selling IonWays Water Alkaline Machines because the water has effected my body in amazing ways and keep talking about it and selling them for a friend...so I just decided to make money myself....LOL There's so much research and proof that it does wonders for the body. It's one of the secrets of Centurians world wide. Alkaline Water. If you'd like to see/learn more www.ionways.com/wunderwater. Let me know if you have any questions :) Even my pets have changed for the better since they started drinking this magic water!

And well...we've met with ring designers and I have picked out my dream ring. Now the man has to figure out how to pay for it! :) But he is working on it and that makes me happy. I have never dreamed of a wedding...only the man and the ring! :) So it'll save him heaps even if it costs $15,000 NZ In the states it would probably be like 1/2 that. Again...everything here is just ridiculously priced! LOL However free health care and 4 weeks of paid vacation every year sometimes makes up for it! :)

Well, I am off to meditate...part of my homework since I am type A and that has effects on my weight and body functions...and then to bed. I hope you are all doing well with your goals. It's spring here and getting nicer to walk outside at night.
Good night
xoxoxo
Hope to see more of you soon! But less of you too :) HA HA

Saturday's Emotional Checklist :)

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Today was a strange day! I think I hit almost every emotion and it's only 10:30 PM!
First let me say for those of you following...I LOVE and ADMIT I AM ADDICTED TO MY BODYBUGG!!!! TRacking food is actually easier and faster...but I am still using SP as well! :)
My day started out nice because it's Saturday and I didn't have to work. Then the phone rang and it was my hair salon...could I come in 2 hours early?! Sure! SO I quickly make breakfast for the boy and I and get my face on and leave. I love getting my hair done every 6 weeks...it puts a smile on my face. So Happy.

After getting my hair done I run a couple errands and al of a sudden my Fibro starts acting up and my incision sites are a little sore..Bummer...now I'm feeling a bit down and sad that I'm not healing heaps faster. I have been walking everynight to meet my BodyBugg Targets! Maybe it's too much. Today I rested and ate less.

I get home and the house is still messy and the boy is sitting on the couch playing farkle...really??! You couldn't do anything!? Now I feel anger!

Then I clean and I feel good again and then I watch the last episode of Oprah...I am sobbing for about an hour afterwards. Oprah has taught me more about myself and other people than anyone else on this planet. Words can't describe how she has made me wiser and given me the ability to figure people out...beneath their outsides! People always say...wow..how did you get so smart and my family was shocked when I made them realize what their actions and words were doing to each other...I think you missed your calling they would say...I respond with...OPRAH. If you're open and you want to be a better human being and truly know the people you love, you learn and listen...and as Oprah says...When you know better, you do better. I will miss her in my everyday life. I will write the satellite company here and request they bring OWN on board. Fingers crossed. I was...am heartbroken. :(

This put me into a sadness of missing my Oma then...still crying...she was my best friend, my grandmother, my cooking teacher, my emotional compass, and my strength. Losing her in 2008 was losing the ONLY person in the world who knew EVERYTHING about me and LOVED ME no matter what. I miss her today. My 2 strong amazing women are both not here to guide me daily.

And now I am calm...but serene and just ready for bed. Strange day emotion wise. I have to say my BodyBugg is motivating, addictive, and quite a nice lil' bugger of a tool! SOOOOOOO glad I found someone to ship internationally! Now my boss at work ordered one too! LOL I'm writing the company and asking how to become a distributer in New Zealand. Why not me?! I just became an IonWays distributer as well and right now can only sell in the states, but they are launching in NZ VERY soon!!! YEA! Since I bought my Athena my skin, my hydration and my daily water intake has been amazing! you can visit my website if you'd like to take a peek! :)
www.ionways.com/WunderWater
and visit my Facebook page for really cool videos of a water class and shows you how much acidity is in what you think is healthy bottled water!!! I was crushed to see FiJI water not make the cut either! I loved that water! https://www.facebook.com/pages/IonWays-Wun
der-Water/158631957553982
And I'm still working on my invention, Book and tool for weight loss....so LOTS of things going on.

2 weeks left of No Gym per Dr.'s orders....counting down!!!! :)

okay...this was longer than I suspected. OH...I made Beet chips today too. I still need to perfect them for consistency but they were yummy and healthy! :)
Good night! Sorry if I bored you. LOL

Bodybugg Day 1

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

Yesterday was the first complete day of wearing my Bodybugg. The first thing I want to say is that it's NOT uncomfortable and actually it's quite thin since you wear it on the back of your arm. I am wearing longsleeves today and I have slept on it, wore short sleeves yesterday and have taken clothes on and off, etc and I hardly know it's there. I have a bruise under my arm since my surgery so it does get a wee bit sore there, but nothing to complain about. I can still cuddle with my man and neither one of us even know it's there :)

I simply wore and didn't really realize everything it actually reports until I uploaded all the info this morning for yesterday! I did notice after my walk last night that I was short 2 minutes from my activity target, so being the competitive spirit I am...I ran in place and did squats for 2 minutes while holding my boobs because I had already changed into my jammies!!! Very funny sight!

Here's some of the things that wow'd me.

* Food tracking system is easy to use and being in NZ I could easily...EASILY...EASILY...Actually MORE easily than SP. Sorry SP :( I still love you! :) But sometimes the serving size options are sort of funky. Like I had a 1/2 cup of grapes but my options were only 2 cups or .75 cups....WTH? Saying that, I use sparkpeople on my iphone to enter nutritional info when I need it. :) See...still SP faithful! emoticon

* It shows you everything as far as steps taken, to calories burned, to when you elevated your heart. I could see when I even got up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night...steps taken and heart rate changed. FunnY! Shows my lack of movement at work at my desk, etc.

* The website has a lot of great information on health and nutrition. www.bodybugg.com. Some people complain about the subscription price, but I guess from living here so long, it seems like nothing for what you are all getting. I think it's like $65+ a year!! I'll pay more because of conversion rates, etc. But I should tell you, I pay $28 for "O" magazine monthly!!!! LOL Seriously! Sick isn't it!? So what is $75 for my health and achieving my goals!? Put it in perspective! You've all spent $100 on stupid stuff that didn't improve your life and happiness! Maybe for a little while...I love shoes too! :) You get my point.

* The programe designs menus for you or you can input the food yourself...whatever floats your boat. :)

* Has recipes...not a lot, but some new ideas :)

* Basically the best thing is I already see how MOTIVATING this lil' bugg is!!! Live time of what you are...or aren't doing. I think if you are addicted to checklists and completing things...YOU WILL LOVE IT. It gives you a daily target for each area and when you reach it...you feel awesome! And when you achieve your activity target it beeps in celebration. :)

* I will keep plugging on and keeping you posted, but so far I really have enjoyed the last couple days. I think the most important thing it really gets across is ANY real movement...walking further in the parking lot...etc makes a difference!! :) It all counts!

I definitely could use more veggies! I still can't get my caveman head around the concept that "Vegetables are not food, vegetables are what food eats" mentality. I try though, but I know to an outside observer it isn't enough!!

Hey Everyone! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on the blog!!! :) This is an answer I gave to Will, but I thought I'd copy and paste it in here as well because it shares some other tid bits :) Now I better get moving and get ready for work!

Hey Will....thanks for stopping by my blog again and writing - WITH PASSION - about your Bodybugg experience. :) I actually am a type-A personality so I realized the very first day that calorie amounts on SP and BB are different. A pear was different, etc. SO...I am using the Bodybugg measurements, but fortunately or unfortunately, I live in New Zealand so most of my food has to be manually entered on both anyway. The basic stuff is what is off. I DO HAVE THE DISPLAY! :) I wanted the SP version (not Sparkpeople...SmartPhone...it gives you your live display on your iPhone or smartphone) but still finding someone to ship outside the US is almost impossible. I have been trying for a year! SO, display is what I got! (I still have to use an American address to register though...thank goodness I have heaps!) It's great! I love it! I am a stickler for weighing and measuring my food. I have a set of measuring cups at work and home and a scale at both too! LOL I am also someone who packs everything for the day in the morning and doesn't veer off track. Once in awhile I do something silly because I WANT something I haven't had in a long time and then after I eat it....well...Yuck...now I know why I stopped eating it! :) Have a great week and keep up the great work!!! MORE VEGGIES DUDE!!!!!!

WCALDER 9/7/2011 9:29AM

I love mine. I've been using it for about 11 weeks. One of the big advantages you haven't seen yet is the tracking after 30 days. You can actually see what the calorie deficit difference is between what you logged food wise, versus what you actually lost weight wise. I have found that I am consistently about 100-200 calories off everyday. So I adjust my meals with the understanding that I'm going to inhale 200 calories from somewhere because my measuring is just slightly off.

All in all it's an awesome tool, and I love having the display. I use SP for the food tracking still and use a calorie placeholder in BodyBugg's website to enter my calories rounded to the upper 50 limit (so 101 calories is actually 150) which helps me stay closer to my target deficit range.

Be careful with certain activities, anything with high vibration throws off the BB sometimes. I was using the chainsaw one day, and my BB thought I was in cardio heck and spiked through the roof. But for the most part I can definitely match up my calories in and out with my weight loss!

I do love that extra kick towards the end of the day to try and round out my activity minutes or hit that next 1k step, etc. Still lucky to break 4k right now, but I'll get that back up in no time :)

Do you have the display watch as well? Or are you only seeing your results when you are at the computer? Oh another tip. Try and set your strap and don't adjust it a lot. They wear out quicker if you are un-securing the Velcro.

Anyway, I didn't mean to put a whole blog post here... so have fun!!
