Starting my day right with a good breakfast

I like well seasoned food that is varied and filling. For breakfast I usually have bread, one or two slices, depending on what else I am having. I only eat whole grain bread, sometimes it's made with sprouted grain or nuts and seeds. There are several kinds I buy. If I decide to indulge in buttered toast, I carefully measure out a 1/2 teaspoon per slice of bread and spread it very thin. It's okay to have fat in moderation. I just want the taste of the butter on my bread and I don't want anything artificial like diet margarine. Sometimes I spread avocado on my bread instead of butter. It's a healthy fat. I'll put some thinly sliced red onion on top, sometimes a slice of tomato and a sprinkle of pink Himalayan sea salt, which is good for lowering blood pressure (as opposed to other salt, which is not).
I recently bought a non-stick ceramic saute pan which needs absolutely no added oil or fat to cook in. I make my eggs in it, either scrambled or sunny side up. Today I sauteed green pepper, cherry tomatoes and onion in it and then added my scrambled egg. It was delicious. Sometimes I'll put about 1/2 oz. of shredded mozzarella or other cheese into my scrambled egg or I'll melt some on a slice of bread with a little pasta sauce. I do eat an egg almost every day. I believe they are very healthy and I am not concerned about the cholesterol in the egg because actually the body manufactures its own cholesterol,
and it doesn't necessarily come from what you eat. Of course I try to limit my fats to the healthy kind.
If I start off my day with a delicious, colorful filling breakfast, that fits in with my Spark program, then I feel good and have energy to get things done.

I haven't been recording my weekly weight for two weeks now, because I haven't been losing weight. I haven't been so careful with my diet, and I only want to record when I successfully lose weight. I am still eating with awareness and I am careful not to eat too much of "forbiddden" foods, even if I do eat some, sometimes. I don't consider this a set back. I don't mind not losing as long as I am basically in control of what goes into my mouth. I give credit to Spark People for giving me this awareness. By recording what I eat every day I keep my intake in check.

    Sounds like you're on track - most importantly, you are determining what you will do and accepting the results.

However, I find typing even my loss of weight motivates me over time - I begin to realize how long it's been since I saw movement and I make the lil extra effort. . .just an thought.

If you get the urge to eat you might be thirsty

Sometimes I get this urge to eat and then I realize that I haven't drunk any water yet or not enough water for the day. It is hard enough to drink 8 cups of water a day. So far I haven't been able to manage more than 5 or 6. So when I find myself reaching for a snack I have to first drink a cup of water and then maybe I won't really need that snack. (I can still have it if I want, but maybe I can save it for later). If I get the "munchies" and I fill up with salad it is also a good way not to eat the wrong things.

I find that eating at regular intervals during the day keeps me from getting that starving feeling where you just put anything into your mouth almost without thinking. (I say "almost", because since I started SparkPeople, I do think about what I put into my mouth even if I sometimes eat something I shouldn't have.) Even if I eat a few chocolate bits or have a scoop of ice cream, it is carefully calculated and recorded on my Spark Page.

I only record my weight when I lose

Over the weekend I ate a little more indulgent foods than usual. When I weighed myself on Monday, my weight was somewhat higher than I expected so I didn't want to record it for my weekly weigh in. Now I am back down to my last week's weight but, I won't record it until next week, hoping it will be less. I also think I didn't record my measurements accurately the first time because on the tape measure nothing seems to show as a loss, but my clothes definitely are loser. I will use my clothes as a gauge.

    I do the same thing. I weigh myself everyday, but I only change my weight after I weigh in at TOPS on Thursday night, and then only if I lose. That's what works for me and what ever works, that's the name of the game.
