Spring Challenge Goals...

Okay...what are my goals...oh look a cookie...NO!

My Goals for the Spring Challenge with my Diamonds...
1. Drink more water...i really need to get that water consumption up.
2. Exercise...this doesn't mean staring down the treadmill it means getting ON the treadmill.
3. Stop munching on everything in site (this is a new thing...since i got sick...it has to stop)
4. Pay attention to my body...am i really hungry, or just thirsty, or bored.
5. Eat BETTER!

So those seem simple enough right...HA! Not with a 13 year old cookieholic in the house...LOL But we will work on it. :)

If i made you laugh...my work here is done...LOL ;)
My son is always trying to give me junk food (I'm getting good at saying no!) He tells me all the time that I'm "skinny as a weed" I've yet to see this ginormous "skinny" weed...LOL But its nice to know he loves me the way i am...or maybe he's afraid I'll get skinny and wear embarrassing clothes and "hang" with him and his friends...LOL
I used to always say "if i was as thin as a supermodel i would never wear anything other than lingerie." Maybe that's what he's afraid of...LOL

Lets do this Diamonds!!! :)

    Last year when i lost a bunch of weight before my friends wedding...the best help i had...drink water first thing in the morning. Mix a little oj in the water...gives your body just enough sugar to get it going but water is the most important.
Water and oj doesn't taste the best...but it works. Take a cup of water out of a gallon of water and out 1 cup of oj in...shake well. Drink throughout the day. :)
I picked up water and oj today...it will be starting my day tomorrow :)

If you think your hungry...drink water and wait 15 minutes.
Don't eat if your not really hungry...BUT don't wait till your overly hungry.
You have to pay attention to your body and get to know it. :)

    Water and Water! It is an answer to many of us! We tend to munch when our bodies just need water! It is a thing I always have to remember!

When treadmills attack...

Okay so it didn't really attack...but it was a bit scary for a minute there...LOL

So we finally got the treadmill set up Saturday night. Sunday I woke up determined to get on that treadmill. Mind you, I haven't used it in over 2 years due to the weight limit (which still bugs me that exercise equipment used to lose weight has a weight limit...really...lol)

So Sunday, i get up ready to take on the treadmill. I get dressed, go out look over all the controls, pop in a movie and start. Unfortunately, i picked the wrong pre-programed option. I was walking along and it just kept getting faster and i couldn't get my feet under me enough to jump off...next thing i know...I am holding on as my knees are on the belt. Luckily i had hooked the safety key on and it finally came out and shut off. By this time the front of the machine is off the floor because i have a death grip on the arms and my knees are on my floor. I slowly get up, setting the front of the treadmill back down on the floor carefully.

I am laughing now because at this point it is funny. My son comes running out to see what is going on. We check it out...the machine is fine. My knees are a little rubbed but not bad (thankful for pants). I decided to take a break and chill.

About an hour later i did get back on...using the manual settings only...LOL I managed to get on again Monday but was feeling sore. By Tuesday I realized i must have pulled a muscle (or 5) in my arms and back from my death grip on the machine. You know how whiplash takes a few days to kick in...that's what this was like.

Wednesday i did get on for a lap. Today, Thursday I did 2 laps (half mile). I decided to work my way up. This way i can find what works for me and what i can and can't do on the machine...without it kicking me to the floor...LOL

Mind you...while this was going on my dog was next to the machine...jumping off wasn't an option either as i would have squished her. LOL We have since set her on it on the lowest setting...she rode to the end...hopped off and doesn't go near it anymore. YAY! Because Saturday night she kept trying to get on when we were setting it up and trying it out. I was so afraid her little foot would get caught under the belt. We will walk on the ground with her...lol

So now that the treadmill and I have an agreement (no more tricks)! and We have all had a good laugh (which burns calories also). Let's do this!! (without injury!)

Okay, problem solved! The setting i used went by your heart rate. I didn't have a heart monitor on, nor was i holding the heart rate pads on the machine...which is why it kept speeding up. Yeah, that program sucks...LOL At least i have figured it out...and can avoid that setting at ALL costs...LOL

I have now labeled that as the doomsday section...my soon to be 13 year old son thinks its funny...but won't try it (thank the heavens) LOL

How funny!

I too got attacked by a treadmill many years ago when first starting one of my many journeys to health. My incident was at a full Gym with my BFF: I too laughed at myself (not to mention my BFF had "tears running down her legs", but I hadn't put on the safety cord so it just kept going; luckily I flew off the back and hit the wall (like in all those America's Funniest Home Videos)
It was quite funny

    Glad you weren't seriously hurt! I've seen those treadmill videos where people fall off and I know I shouldn't laugh but they kill me! Glad you and the treadmill came to an agreement - the only thing falling off will be weight!

    i am really not laughing honest, diamond girl! but it sure made me smile. That was me not to long ago. And the dog part, ours is scared to death of it will not even get near it! Glad you got back on and really glad you did not get hurt!

    I wish i could get her to walk on it...she just thought it wasn't a very fun ride...lol Maybe I'll try again. I don't do the outdoors walk in the winter. Then again...I'm not so good at walking indoors either...lol
I think i could have won AFV had there been a camera running. ;)
I did have a similar issue a couple years ago while watching tv on the treadmill...i stopped walking...the treadmill didn't...all because something happened on the show...maybe i shouldn't watch tv while on the treadmill...LOL

Who knew knee pads would come in handy just to walk??INDOORS!!! I sit here laughing about your dog though,, When our dog was alive, she would stand there in front of the tread, giving me that dog-human look, like, WTH are you doing that for, when we could be outdoors in the snow, walking on the shoulder of the road with cars whizzing by at fifty mph,where it is exciting?"

Next thing she knew, I had her tied to the front of the tread at a slow pace, sitting there looking at her, reading my book.. I then took my turn, then her,etc.. she got the point.. it kept her in shape when outdoors was too cold or dangerous.

I picture myself walking on the beach when I am slugging along on my tread.. enjoy your new toy!!

Wednesday's weigh in took me by surprise...i lost 5 pounds! WHAT? How did that happen? My friends threw me a Murder Mystery Mardi Gras birthday party on Saturday filled with very yummy food and even yummier dessert. I didn't pig out...but I did enjoy it. AND THEN I had leftovers (including dessert) that i brought home and shared with my son on Sunday. Monday i received my lovely visit from TOM (the evil monthly monster). Tuesday was my actual birthday, however Elvis once again neglected to show up with our peanut butter banana cake (he is so unreliable...lol). So when Wednesday weigh in rolled around...i didn't really expect much...surprise! I even did my weigh in twice just to check...LOL

This is my lowest weight in forever. I'm not pre-baby weight yet, YET! I was in the 240's when i got pregnant and then gained 50 pounds...YIKES! and then kept gaining. My son will be 13 February 1st...that's a long time to be carrying the extra baby weight...lol I tell him his twin is still in there...lol
Anyway, now that the surprise of my weigh in has wore off a bit and i have thought about it...I AM going to do it. This is the year! I will make big changes in my life this year. I just have that positive vibe going on. I am going to make this year count for me...who says 13 isn't lucky. Friday the 13th has always been lucky for me. Maybe because so many are superstitious and i like to be different and so have always said that its my lucky day and so i made it my lucky day by believing it so...whatever the case 2013 IS going to be my lucky year! I am sharing all my luck with my fellow sparkers!

New Year...New Me?

Well it's that time again...time to decided what we are going to do this year. BUT instead of just thinking about what we are going to do, or want to do. We need to think about HOW we are going to make it happen...and then DO IT!
I'm tired of making resolutions and well thats as far as they go. This year...I am going to make a plan...and stick to it.
EXCEPT, it's going to be more of a guide. Mistakes happen...it's part of life. I don't want to drag myself down if i make a mistake.
This year is also about being POSITIVE! I need to be more positive about myself, my life, and my goals.

So this is my plan...
Moving...everyday. If i have time to fb...I have time to get in a workout!
Water...must drink more water...hopefully it will grow on me. :)
Positive...being more positive about myself. I need to stop putting myself down.
Going for it...I need to put myself out there and go for it...my weight isn't to blame...my attitude is.

Notice there are no dates, no weights, no DEADLINES! I don't want to discourage myself from the start. I know what i need to do...and I will get there.

In a nut shell...
I am positive that i am going to have a great year.
I will get in some form of exercise EVERY day.
I will drink more water than any other beverage EVERY day.
I will stop making excuses for why i can't do things and I will try my best...even if i fail...I tried. :)

So this is where i start my year. For the record...I got in 54 minutes of exercise today. Not bad for not working out in weeks. Today i took a stand for myself. I pushed myself to start the year out better than i ended the last. Every step forward...is a step to a better me. Even if there are a few steps backwards...it's just part of the dance of life.

2013...a new year...and i will be a new me. I will be the me I want to be...and not who everone else wants me to be. I am standing up to myself. I will be a better person!

    Thanks ladies! I'm hoping my being miter comfortable with myself losing weight will be easier because i will be making myself better and healthier in the process. By not focusing so much on numbers (especially since i had a gain over the holidays...boo) and focusing more on choosing better choices...i will see the changes.
Don't think I'm not going to be watching the evil scale though...i still have to hold myself accountable...but hopefully by making better choices the scale won't be so evil. ;) lol
