I have some red shoes but they are not walking shoes. I am wondering if my walking shoes should be purple as my first flower of the spring to bloom was a purple crocus.

I told my kids that if I ever bought red shoes they would know i had completely lost my mind. However, that was in reference to dress shoes; I'm thinking red fitness shoes would be another motivator to get out there. I've had pink and yellow in the past. We'll see what we can find when I need a new pair of workout shoes.

"A bump in the road"....remember that calloused statement?

Friday, March 08, 2013

Appears Congress may FINALLY be demanding access to the survivors to interview them....

I don't know the author of this poem … received it today. Very thought provoking and poignant.

I do recall, however, the President referring to the Benghazi incident as "a bump in the road."

Today I heard an ex-Navy Seal being interviewed on Fox News regarding a book he has written about how to handle crisis situations in our lives.

At the end of the interview he asked if he could make a comment on Benghazi and of course the anchor said yes. He then thanked Fox News for keeping the Benghazi story in the news since other news organizations are not.
He said the Seals who died deserve the public knowing the truth about the whole affair.

The poem was written by a MARINE CORPS Officer (ANON).

We're the battling boys of Bengazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead seals who carried the load
No thanks to us..........we were just "Bumps In The Road".

This email needs to be circulated as much as we can possibly keep it going. I think this is the feeling of the general population and it should be pursued until something is done with the incompetent ass holes involved which literally sit there in the White house and watched their execution on live streaming video and did absolutely nothing!

Amazing the stories that Obama does NOT share or allow...without it being political, the true stories are quite often left aside.

Obama’s DOJ: Children Do Not Need, And Have No Right To, Mothers

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

The Obama Justice Department is arguing in the United States Supreme Court that children do not need mothers.

The Justice Department’s argument on the superfluity of motherhood is presented in a brief the Obama administration filed in the case of Hollingsworth v. Perry, which challenges the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that amended California’s Constitution to say that marriage involves only one man and one woman.

The Justice Department presented its conclusions about parenthood in rebutting an argument made by proponents of Proposition 8 that the traditional two-parent family, led by both a mother and a father, was the ideal place, determined even by nature itself, to raise a child.

The Obama administration argues this is not true. It argues that children need neither a father nor a mother and that having two fathers or two mothers is just as good as having one of each.

“The [California] Voter Guide arguably offered a distinct but related child-rearing justification for Proposition 8: ‘the best situation for a child is to be raised by a married mother and father,’” said the administration’s brief submitted to the court by Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr.

“As an initial matter, no sound basis exists for concluding that same-sex couples who have committed to marriage are anything other than fully capable of responsible parenting and child-rearing,” the Department of Justice told the court. “To the contrary, many leading medical, psychological, and social-welfare organizations have issued policy statements opposing restrictions on gay and lesbian parenting based on their conclusion, supported by numerous scientific studies, that children raised by gay and lesbian parents are as likely to be well adjusted as children raised by heterosexual parents.”

Spark People has many gay and lesbian members, many of whom are raising children.

The quotation cited here does not say that "children don't need mothers".

It says something else. What children need are good parents.

In Canada, same sex marriage has been legal for about 8 years. It's not generally considered controversial. Many children are being successfully nurtured by same sex parents. Many children are being unsuccessfully nurtured in "traditional" heterosexual-parent families, or by single mothers.

I think what they're saying is that having a married pair of heterosexual parents does not guarantee that they are going to be good parents. Likewise having gay, lesbian or by-sexual parents doesn't mean they're going to be bad parents. I think what is important is being wanted and loved by the parents that are raising you. If a child is raised by loving people that are committed to each other, have strong values, treat each other and the child with respect and dignity, and teach the child to do the same, then they are a very fortunate child indeed.

Today is a Declared Dump Day

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

This morning I got up and decided TODAY IS DECLARED DUMP DAY. So I headed out to the garage, got all the recyclable plastic, gathered up the glass containers, loaded up the paper to be recycled, then threw in that old extra vacuum that has been taking up space. Loaded the whole mess into the car. Went back inside, and got that huge pile of clothes and household good I no longer have any need for, and added that to the load.

First stop, the dump. There I sorted all the plastic and aluminum into the right bin, went on to separate the glass items into their proper storing place. Picked up the giant size paper to be thrown away and got it all dumped into the waste paper container. Got all the cardboard flattened and dropped off with the other cardboard area.

Second stop: Good Will. Gave them that old vacuum cleaner.

Third stop: The Serenity Thrift Store for our area. Gave them the clothes and kitchen stuff.

WOW. Felt great to see my car once again empty, and even better when I got home and saw the cleaner garage and house.

Some days are just plain dump days. And not all bad, either! emoticon

It only takes a few extra minutes in my day to get the recycling out and I feel better for trying to recycle/reuse instead of dumping it into the garbage.

My GF asks me constantly...what do I personally get out of doing this? Satisfaction that I'm doing my part. I often drop off books and magazines at a local Assisted Living center, clothes to the Trift shop, and household items to be repaired and resold. Living with less clutter is not a bad thing....helps us appreciate what we do have.

Scheduling DUMP DAY would be a very wise thing to do. I probably would let it pass by though. I am a very spontaneous person, and can always find a way and reason to adjust my schedules!! emoticon

Do you have spontaneous Dump Days or do you scheduled them? I'm thinking of declaring two Dump Days a year - one about a month after then end of the school year and one at the end of January.

Spoon Fed Sequester Fear Tactics

Monday, March 04, 2013

Whenever I turn on the TV for news, I hear over and over again how the Sequester is going to do drastic harm to the people of America.

Our Pretend President rails about how we are all going to suffer; children with disabilities won't get medical help, airport traffikers will be laid off, FBI will be laid off, seniors will have their Social Security checks lower, etc. etc. etc.

These are all SCARE TACTICS, designed to put fear in our hearts and hate Republicans. Never mind the Sequester was The Great Pretender's idea in the first place. We don't want to talk about that. We should all fall in line and blame Republicans while we quake with fear.

Get a GRIP!!! The Sequester is merely a SPENDING CUT. And only (?) 45 billion will happen this year.

The Repubs offered Obummer the opportunity to chose HIS favorite cuts. He refused.

Now tell me, what kind of President would be offered to make his own choice and REFUSE?????

I believe he refuses because HE is afraid to make decisions of any kind. He is well trained in campaigning (by the way..........have you heard the movement afoot to RE-elect him AGAIN, where we will be stuck with his socialist agenda until 2020??? True story. Do your research!), but he doesn't have a single clue as to how to run a business.

One begs the question of why he doesn't have his beloved Dems create a budget! It has been 4 years since they have created one, and our pseudo-president hasn't delivered one either. In spite of what he claims, even the Dems say they have not seen one from him.

We have HUGE wasteful spending going on in our government, and there is no excuse as to why Social Security, National Safety or medical needs for children "MUST" be cut. Just an example: The "study" of whether robotic squirrels frighten children. Now someone please tell me why we need robotic squirrels in the first place!!!

Not to mention the millions it costs us every time he jaunts off to campaign somewhere, or he and Michelle jaunt off to different vacations. He has his minions meet with the press, and don't you just love it that when he had the governors of states at the W.H., he DISMISSED the press before he would take any questions.

Oh, and by the way................Bengazi has been shoved under the rug, too. Just like the Fast and Furious gun arms to Mexico was.

The government builds new bridges to nowhere again, supports all kinds of dubious studies, and pays for agendas that are too ridiculous to believe. Obama, if he CHOOSES to, could take the cuts from these wasteful programs that contribute absolutely NOTHING to America.

The Sequester, this year, will cause LESS that 2% of their ridiculous spending.

But NO! He wants to hurt Americans big time. He does not care, nor does he understand, that our country is beloved by all of us. He does not comprehend that if he keeps spending and spending and spending and giving hand outs over and over and over, our country will shatter like that of Rome.

People need JOBS, not hand outs. Jobs are more than money. They build self esteem and self respect. The longer one goes without earning their own living, the lower their self image drops.

It is my true belief that the gas prices have nothing to do with anything other than our gubmint hiding raised taxes through the gas pumps.

Now he has George \Soros' companies buying up weapons manufacturers. THat, along with the gubmint purchasing billions (yes, that is BILLIONS) of rounds of ammunition as a means of disarming the populace, will erode our Constitutional rights.

And once the camel gets his nose under the tent, Dear Americans, the rest of the herd will follow.

I am becoming more and more convinced that a good old fashioned American Revolution is in order.

I, for one, will fight to the death to protect our Constitution and our country. They are both Sacred, and need to be preserved.

Remember, dear Americans, "MY COUNTRY TIL OF THEE!!!" Stand up and be counted! Do what you can to make our country a nicer and more decent place to live.

Let us remove all hatred from each other, and begin to pull together once more.

Either that, or prepare to live like Greece. You have a choice.............for now, anyway!

I am so glad that someone is speaking out against all of this. I have spoken out several times on Yahoo and other boards, but no one listens. I think that the only thing that will make a difference is if the Republican party comes out and tells all those who are getting medicaid, welfare and free phones that if things continue in this way there will be no more free anything. The country will go bankrupt and they will have no one to blame except the president who has no idea how to run a country. He wants to inflict as much pain as possible on people so that they will blame the Republicans and he will get what he wants, TOTAL control of the government. He will have a democratic senate and house again and he will be able to put through whatever he wants no matter how bad it is. If this happens, we will never get him out of office and he will become the dictator everyone fears he will be.
