I see a lot of people writing about quitting and not quitting today. So I will join the bunch.

First of all, What does QUITTING mean???

It means giving up to our lower self esteem and self worth.

It means developing or strenghening a negative attitude.

It means we lose our goals.

It means we give up our pride.

It means not developing new brain cells.

It means we are making the choice to be a loser (and I am not talking about losing weight here!).
It means settling for less. Again, not about weight. It's about our self image.

It means choosing deliberately to be LAZY.

It means making a choice to not have any adventures into new thoughts, behaviors, attitudes and results.

It means walking away from support groups.

It means isolation.

It means justifying all old negative behaviors.

It means blaming other people, situations, things and places.

It means BOREDOM.

I don't like any of the above choices, so I will continue on being a NON QUITTER.

I do NOT have to quit when anything becomes tedious, strenuous or difficult.

I can choose to confront it, learn from it, and feel good about being ME.

I can choose to turn around and face the devils that chase me. And you know what?

Every time I face them, they turn out to be only dust bunnies, and not scary monsters after all.

    Good observations.
It really annoys me when people give in to their quitter side. I is just easier to give up than plug on with what needs to be done.
We are, after all, a nation of quitters. That's why I am paying someone elses mortgage, food stamps, general welfare.

I think many people expect "instant results".....I've been on my diet for a week, why am I not at goal weight? Unfortunately life never happens that instantenously...and if it did, everyone would be trying it! lol

My scale may not have moved in many weeks.....but the steps I'm taking to ensure a healthier journey is something I wouldn't trade for all the old bad habits. Baby steps is where it's at and we only need to focus on what lies ahead....no matter how long it takes!

We just need to emoticon

Well said, my friend! Quitting is not an option in my book; I'm glad it's not in yours either.

Talk about out-sourcing Jobs!!!

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Rich Héroux
Talk about "outsourcing jobs"......... how about this... just let the Chinese come in & build all our broken down infrastructure::, bridges, roads,buildings... he thinks he's doing us such good........watch Diane Sawyer & this vid-clip..

OUR PRESIDENT, What the heck is he thinking?

I-635 in Texas is being rebuilt with underground tolls from I-35 to I-45 and is contracted to a CHINESE firm for over $5 billion.

And Diane Sawyer reporting on U.S. bridge projects going to the Chinese.... NOT Americans.

The bridges are right here in the U.S. and yet Obama has approved for Chinese contractors to come in and do the work. What about jobs for Americans???

Watch this video. It doesn't take long to view.

This video is a jaw-dropper that will make you sick. You can find it by going to abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/us-bridges-roads-
30?ion=1206853&playlist=14594944. You have to put the www. before the link.

The lead-in with Obama promising jobs in the U.S. by improving our infrastructure is so typical of all his promises!

Our tax dollars are at work - for CHINA !!! This strikes me as border line tyranny.

I pray all the unemployed see this and cast their votes accordingly in 2012!

I got a bit crazy today

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

and started doing some ironing. Get this. I ironed the clothes we took on our cruise, and I ironed two Christmas shirts I forgot I had.

Then I ironed pillow cases and the linen napkins from when Larry and Sharon came over for dinner last Thursday.

Now I have a stack of old linens, and I am wondering if I should keep them. They are antique linens to put on table tops or night stands. I am wondering if I even want to keep them. I seriously doubt Bossy Daughter will want them, but they do bring back memories of my Granny. I am amazed that they got to the ironing basket at all. I don't remember using them, but apparently I did. Hmmmmmm

Don't get the idea that I will be finished with my ironing if I get them all done. Oh no. I have a BIG basket of ironing to do..........lots of DH's long sleeve shirts and lots more of my clothes.

It's kind of like going on a shopping spree. Perhaps within the next year or so I will get all the ironing done.

As I pull another piece of my clothing out, I see why it has taken me so long to iron them. It is because I grew out of them. But NOW, thanks to Spark, I can fit in them again.

Life is good.

Isn't it 'funny' how we adopt our ironing habits?
I usually only iron if I get really mad at my SO or it is absolutely required because of a function that I have absolutely nothing else that is appropriate to wear.
Good luck on reaching the bottom.

I am selling my iron and ironing board in order to move,,,, I sincerely DOUBT if I'll buy another "Board" , but the "iron" most likely, for I do wear a lot of skirts. SIGH !

I ironed my clothes in college and then in law school but the DW would iron what she didn't send to the cleaners. Then we had DD who LOVED to iron in the den with the tv on. She has moved on, DW doesn't iron, do windows or cook and the cleaners think 'no starch' means you can bend the cloth without a sheetmetal break. I love the "wrinkle free" cloth.

As a child.....I was responsible for ironing pillow cases, sheets, handkerchiefs and gradually worked my way up to T-shirts and long sleeved shirts.

Now? The only thing that gets ironed are fabric or constructed blocks from my next quilt. All the rest of the other stuff can just flap in the breeze....ironing clothes is in my past! (thank goodness)!

Those of you who have been following my most recent activity know that I have been in over my head with getting my friend Kitty's quilt estate sale organized.

I have taped, measured, marked, sorted, folded, thrown away, boxed up, packaged up, and sorted again and again mountains of fabric, books, patterns, scraps, scissors, pens, machines, irons, notions, thread, pantographs, .............the list is never ending.

Just to let you know how much stash the woman had, we needed a van, a Jeep Cherokee, a truck, a station wagon and my Buick to haul it all over to Club.

Then we got to unpack it all and get it all sorted and arranged attractively for the sale the next day.

After everything was all laid out, looking beautiful and taking up over half of the HUGE room, I decided to give everything a careful go-over and see what I could set aside for myself.

Here I was, in the biggest BEST quilt sale of my life, and would you believe I couldn't find one single thing I wanted. It all looked alike to me. It all kind of blurred together, and I realized I needed to get out of there before I got sick just looking at all of it.

For the first time in my quilting life, I could not find one single thing that looked good to me. Not one fabric, not one spool of thread, not one pattern or book, not one fat quarter. It all looked the same!!!

I just left the building, got in my car and came HOME!

Good that I made Chicken Vegetable Soup the day before, because by the time I got home I was so tired I could barely lift a spoon or chew, much less say FIX Dinner!!!!

I was so tired I couldn't even watch the Red Sox game, and they WON. Now for ME, THAT is being tired!!

I finally managed to summon the energy to climb the stair to go to bed at 10:20.

Get this. I woke up this morning, looked at the clock without my glasses, and saw that it was already 6:30, and I have to be at Club by 8:15.

So I jump in the shower, get out and dry myself, then brush my teeth. Then I move on to moisturizing my face. As I am moisturizing my face, I look at the clock in the bathroom. It must not have been changed when daylight savings happened or something, because it is reading an hour earlier.

I go out to the bedroom WITH MY GLASSES ON, and sure enough, it was only 5:55.

I could have slept another hour!!!!!!!!

What a way to begin what is bound to be a hard working,. long hours day!!!

I hope that all of your hard work paid off and that the sale went great! I always have to put my glasses on to look at the clock in the morning. I don't want to get any sooner than I have to. Hope you had a great day!

How much fun that would be to go to a sale like that! And I know what you mean. I worked in a candy store and after you tried everything, it made you sick and you didn't want any more of it. Good luck with the sale!

Okay, Time to Pony Up, DAWGS!!

Sunday, July 22, 2012

By now we know our beloved Dianne, who keeps us going and going and going, always with encouraging words, has had a stroke and is in hospital.

I'm tellin' ya..........there's many hours I would NOT have gotten in without her pushing me, knowing that I CAN DO IT.

I bet many of you can say the same thing.

So the way I figure it, it is time we PONY UP for HER!

Here's my thought: We all get in at least 120 minutes a day of exercise. We post it on the team page, and on our own. Just like always.

BUT!!!! I am requesting a method of posting any EXTRA minutes (over 120) to be allowed to be posted on DIANNE'S PAGE. In other words, we will do her running for her!

There MUST be a way we can get this worked out. How about YOU, MARYANN, figure this one out for us dawgs? You're one of the brightest and bestest, and I know you and Dianne are very close.

How about setting up her page so we can log on "her" minutes?

I know she would get a real big bang out of that.

Thanks for your enthusiasm and ideas! Unfortunately, because of fairness issues with the the other teams, we can't officially donate our extra exercise minutes to other team members, BUT, we're working on a way that the team can do something extra as a tribute to Diane. I'll let you know as soon as we have the details finalized. Thanks again for being such a great and supportive dawg!
