The SALE, THE SALE!!!!!

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Those of you who have been following my most recent activity know that I have been in over my head with getting my friend Kitty's quilt estate sale organized.

I have taped, measured, marked, sorted, folded, thrown away, boxed up, packaged up, and sorted again and again mountains of fabric, books, patterns, scraps, scissors, pens, machines, irons, notions, thread, pantographs, .............the list is never ending.

Just to let you know how much stash the woman had, we needed a van, a Jeep Cherokee, a truck, a station wagon and my Buick to haul it all over to Club.

Then we got to unpack it all and get it all sorted and arranged attractively for the sale the next day.

After everything was all laid out, looking beautiful and taking up over half of the HUGE room, I decided to give everything a careful go-over and see what I could set aside for myself.

Here I was, in the biggest BEST quilt sale of my life, and would you believe I couldn't find one single thing I wanted. It all looked alike to me. It all kind of blurred together, and I realized I needed to get out of there before I got sick just looking at all of it.

For the first time in my quilting life, I could not find one single thing that looked good to me. Not one fabric, not one spool of thread, not one pattern or book, not one fat quarter. It all looked the same!!!

I just left the building, got in my car and came HOME!

Good that I made Chicken Vegetable Soup the day before, because by the time I got home I was so tired I could barely lift a spoon or chew, much less say FIX Dinner!!!!

I was so tired I couldn't even watch the Red Sox game, and they WON. Now for ME, THAT is being tired!!

I finally managed to summon the energy to climb the stair to go to bed at 10:20.

Get this. I woke up this morning, looked at the clock without my glasses, and saw that it was already 6:30, and I have to be at Club by 8:15.

So I jump in the shower, get out and dry myself, then brush my teeth. Then I move on to moisturizing my face. As I am moisturizing my face, I look at the clock in the bathroom. It must not have been changed when daylight savings happened or something, because it is reading an hour earlier.

I go out to the bedroom WITH MY GLASSES ON, and sure enough, it was only 5:55.

I could have slept another hour!!!!!!!!

What a way to begin what is bound to be a hard working,. long hours day!!!

How much fun that would be to go to a sale like that! And I know what you mean. I worked in a candy store and after you tried everything, it made you sick and you didn't want any more of it. Good luck with the sale!

Okay, Time to Pony Up, DAWGS!!

Sunday, July 22, 2012

By now we know our beloved Dianne, who keeps us going and going and going, always with encouraging words, has had a stroke and is in hospital.

I'm tellin' ya..........there's many hours I would NOT have gotten in without her pushing me, knowing that I CAN DO IT.

I bet many of you can say the same thing.

So the way I figure it, it is time we PONY UP for HER!

Here's my thought: We all get in at least 120 minutes a day of exercise. We post it on the team page, and on our own. Just like always.

BUT!!!! I am requesting a method of posting any EXTRA minutes (over 120) to be allowed to be posted on DIANNE'S PAGE. In other words, we will do her running for her!

There MUST be a way we can get this worked out. How about YOU, MARYANN, figure this one out for us dawgs? You're one of the brightest and bestest, and I know you and Dianne are very close.

How about setting up her page so we can log on "her" minutes?

I know she would get a real big bang out of that.

Thanks for your enthusiasm and ideas! Unfortunately, because of fairness issues with the the other teams, we can't officially donate our extra exercise minutes to other team members, BUT, we're working on a way that the team can do something extra as a tribute to Diane. I'll let you know as soon as we have the details finalized. Thanks again for being such a great and supportive dawg!

Obama Claims He Never Said “You Didn’t Build That”

Friday, July 20, 2012

OK folks, if you have not been offended enough by Barack Obama’s outright lies, then this one will certainly do it. After claiming that people who built businesses didn’t do it on their own, Team Obama has come out with a new ad saying that he didn’t say that.

The ad comes up with Mitt Romney reading a direct quote from Barack Obama, then the ad cuts to a snide text remark, “The only problem? That’s not what he (Obama) said.”

The problem is that not even twenty seconds later the clip comes up with Barack Obama stating exactly what Romney said he did. Someone at the Obama campaign might need some sort of psychiatric help I think.

Seriously, this is Orwellian. The creepiness of blatant lies is very disturbing. This isn’t like semantics which can occur in politics and it takes some investigating to figure it out. Obama says exactly what Romney claims he said and what we have video of him saying right in the very ad spot!

Now the way I figure it, either ALL of us are on psychedelic drugs having the same illusion, or maybe we all drank "stupid water", or something equally weird.

What we DID all experience is watching Obama's speech where he DID say exactly what he is now denying. And I am sure we will continue to see him say exactly that.

He is also blasting Romney for Bain. However, he doesn't mention that HE took money from Bain Capital for campaign donations. Hmmmmmm interesting that he leaves that little fact out, isn't it!?

Don't get confused, folks. This is a VERY BIG DEAL. This clearly demonstrates irrefutably the dishonesty of Obama.

Like most Americans, I come from a very hard working family. My grandpa had a farm that he built from the ground up, literally. HE built the barns, house, chicken coops, garages, and HE paid for his tractors, the feed seeds, the cows and their feed..........HE paid for ALL of it.

Everybody joined in with the gardening, bee keeping, yard work, field work, bringing in the hay, sileage and eggs. We all went together to cut the wood for winter's cold. Everyone hauled the logs, helped cut the wood into useable sizes. Men, women and children. ALL of us worked the farm.

ln the kitchen, all the women did the butchering, canning, packaging, making the butter, separating the cream from the milk...........and oh yeah........we all drank raw milk from our own cows.

NO government worker showed up to help in any manner, way or form.

Grandpa sold milk, cheese and eggs to the local co-op. He sold excess hay and alfalfa to neighboring farmers. We sold honey from our own bees, honey that WE packaged up.

The ladies all did knitting and crocheting and sewing of our clothing. They made extra for folks not as fortunate as we. We sheared the sheep, combed the wool, cleaned the wool, spun the wool and weaved the wool into cloth for coats, blankets, towels, etc.

No government worker showed up to help in that stuff, either.

My grandpa fixed the broken farm equipment, and we painted our own buildings. We went "modern" and built our own indoor bathroom and plumbing. I remember doing that very clearly, and I can attest that no government people showed up to help dig.

Just think for a moment, folks. Think of the Doctor who worked his way through medical school without government aide. Think of him or her opening their own practise and the work that took.

Think of the veterinarians who did the same, and would travel to help an animal.

The attorneys who drew up our Wills, and handled our legal issues. Now who paid THEIR rent and overhead for their help??? Nope, not the good ole gubmint!!!

Teachers who went to college so they could become teachers of children. They worked very hard teaching all of us to read, write and know our history. (That's when we HAD to take American History and PASS it too!)

Yes, of course there were roads and bridges built. The builders of such got paid a salary. We are all grateful for the roads, and appreciate them being kept up.

Now let's move on to our military. Boys and girls who rushed to sign up to save our country during wars THAT THE GOVERNMENT GOT US INTO. Now the government wants to cut their health care, their salaries, and send them off into harm's way without adequate protection. Our Humvees for the soldiers are not armored, and cannot withstand home made bombs, killing our soldiers and maiming too many for life. And yet the government wants to close down most of the VA centers, and cut back drastically on the help they need.

And don't take your eye off the NEW war the government is attempting to get us into!!!

Look at the shop keeper who mortgaged his house so he could open a store. He and his family worked very hard, sacrificing wherever they could to make ends meet. They built their business by themselves through long hard hours and much worry.

The list can go on and on, because America is a hard working country. Or at least WAS a hard working country until our Government decided to regulate everything and everybody and do whatever they can to make us all dependent via welfare, food stamps, and disability checks for a lot of people who have nothing wrong with them whatsoever.

And you know the worst of it??? Those REGULATORS never held a decent JOB in their lives, and don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Let me state here and now that I have no problem giving a helping hand up to folks who need it, and who want a better life. But I DO have a terrific problem with those who don't WANT to work, who WON'T work, and never INTEND to work. Thanks to our government, they are disproving the theory that "there is no such thing as a free lunch".

Yes, we can all go on and on, but the proof ot the pudding will come in November. We simply MUST vote the liars, cheats, theives and self serving beaurocrats out of our government.

We are losing our freedom hour by hour, and the good ole government doesn't listen to the people. They are all on their own agenda, and looking for "what's in it for THEM".

At least Romney tells the truth, and he doesn't NEED the job. He has more than enough money that he doesn't have to have mob cohorts to give him loans, and he is open about his past. Heck, he has even opened his college records!

Romney has enough business power that he doesn't have to scrape and bow to other countries. He is, and always HAS been, a true patriot of AMERICA. Yes, he is a Capitalist. That's what makes for JOBS! As a business grows, it needs more people to work there.

THAT doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

He also believes that folks ought not to depend on the gubmit for their daily bread, but to rely on themselves as much as possible. Working is more than earning wages; it is earning a sense of pride in oneself.

Romney also keeps quiet about the time he literally threw his company and himself into finding a missing child of one of his employees. Do you know about that?? It is available online if you are interested.

And so I will leave you to your own conclusions. You can choose to deny seeing and hearing Obama in his own words utter the statement "You Didn't Built That", and you can choose to determine "what he REALLY MEANT".

As for ME, I choose to take people for their own words. If they cannot say what they " really MEAN", they have no business trying to run (or destroy????) America.

Sadly there are enough lies on BOTH sides to make elections sickening. It never used to be this way. I tend to study ALL candidates and have never voted a straight party ticket in my life. In the presidential election, I voted for 2 dems, 2 reps, and 1 independent. Now how much more split could my ballot be?

Quilt Show and Lavender Festival

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Hi Gang,

This weekend is our annual quilt show and lavender festival. Our little community is gearing up for boatloads of tourists and all kinds of traffic.

Generally, our little town is a quiet, friendly, laid back kind of place.

But this weekend will more than quadruple our population, and bring all sorts of activities such as live music playing everywhere, busses hauling tourists from lavender farm to farm, a huge craft fair, full eating establishments, stores over run with people and, of course, the quilt show.

If you have never come to the Lavender Festival and quilt show, put it on your bucket list!!!

We have some of the most talented quilters and artists I have ever seen right here in my back yard so to speak. Everywhere you look, it is a feast for the eyes.

Lots of BBQ's going on and the smell from them is terrific.

Lavender food specialites like Lavender ice cream, muffins, cakes, cookies, sausages, breads, rolls,.................you name it, we got it!

All of this takes a whole village to participate and volunteer, and the big time action began today.

So if you don't hear from me for a while, you will no doubt be able to find me somewhere at the quilt show or festival, wearing some badge or another that says I am a volunteer. Stop and say HI, then move on. I will be very busy at my volunteer duties, but never too busy for a hug and a smile!

Okay, where is your little town. I'll put it on the calendar for next year. WE can't do much traveling now due to my mother-i-law's health but we will someday!

I was in town today and ran into a bunch of the village idiots!! Town is packed with people and traffic is horrible. Plus, it's raining.
At any rate, everyone will have a great time and hopefully leave lots of money behind.

I know your quilt show will be a success.

Obama’s Hypocrisy: Took Money From Bain

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Obama and his campaign have been making Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital one of their premiere mantras that have over and over backfired in their faces. They decided to attack the fact that Bain outsourced jobs during the restructuring of the companies they acquired. So what does Obama have to do with it? During the time he points to, 1999-2002, the executives of Bain donated to Obama for his campaign. No doubt at that time Barack Obama was not at all upset about jobs being outsourced as he got some big, fat checks from the executives.

Ben Shapiro points out,

The same SEC form from February 2001 that lists Mitt Romney as “sole shareholder, sole director, Chief Executive Officer and President of Bain Capital … the controlling person of Bain Capital” also lists over a dozen other managing directors of Bain Capital, Inc. — all of whom were undoubtedly more active than Romney was during this period. And President Obama took money from many of them.

Take Joshua Bekenstein. Bekenstein has been a managing director of Bain Capital since 1986. In 2008, he signed Barack Obama a $4,600 check. In 2004, he gave a $50,000 donation to the Democratic National Committee. That’s outsourcing money, plain and simple. And Obama was happy to take it.

Or how about Stephen Pagliuca? Last year, he cut a $35,800 check to Barack Obama’s Victory Fund. Then he cut another $30,800 check to the DNC. And another $30,800 check to the DCCC. Jonathan Lavine and Mark Nunnelly have both maxed out to Obama already, as well as to the DNC. Lavin was a bundler for Obama, and raised over $100,000 for him. Michael Krupka gave Obama $4,600 in 2008.

Now there is nothing wrong with outsourcing jobs. There is nothing wrong with taking campaign contributions from businesses. The problem comes when one wants to bash his opponent over being in a company that did something you claim is bad and then took money from the very same people. In this case Barack Obama was fine with outsourcing while getting a check, but not fine when it becomes a political advantage.

Once again it is proven that when we throw mud at other people, we need to be sure our OWN doorsteps are clean!!!
