OK... this is past the 'birthers' questions.... this is just plain old
common sense, no political agendas for either side.

Just common knowledge that citizens of a country and especially American citizens who even know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused of adultery or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace or Truman played the piano.

Good grief... we are Americans! We are known for our humanitarian interests
and caring for our 'fellow man'.

We care, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president.

Honestly, and this is a personal thing...but it's niggled at me for ages that no one who ever dated him ever showed up.

The simple fact of his charisma that caused the women to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some lady would not have missed the opportunity....

We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed... Biden's aneurisms are no secret. Look at Cheney and Clinton.. we all know about their heart problems and certainly speaking of the opposite sex- how could I have left out Wild Bill before or during the White House?

Nope... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy..." or "What a great dancer!!"

Now look at the rest of this... no classmates, not even the recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him....

.... I just dunno about this fellow.

Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Then check groomsmen.

Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony. Has anyone talked to the

It is odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.

When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos there? Every president
gives to the public all their photos, etc. for their library, etc. What has
he released?

And who in hell voted for him to be the most popular man in 2010?????

Does this make you wonder?

Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from President Obama's past saying
they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. ??

Not one person has ever come forward from his past.

This should really be a cause for great concern. To those who voted for him,
you may have elected an unqualified, inexperienced shadow man. Did you see a
picture called The Manchurian Candidate?.....

Let's face it. As insignificant as we all are .. someone whom we went to
school with remembers our name or face ... someone remembers we were the
clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something
about us.

George Stephanopoulos of ABC News said the same thing during the 2008
campaign. He questions why no one has acknowledged the president was in
their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on

Stephanopoulos also was a classmate of Obama at Columbia -- the class of
1984. He says he never had a single class with him.

While he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class
remember him? And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records?

Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia
University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there,
but none remembered him.

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who
also graduated in 1983.

In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that
knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew
Barack Obama at Columbia .. EVER!"

Nobody recalls him.

Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him.

At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the
speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack!

And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, 'the macha' who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him."

Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook and Obama
consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia , provide
school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends
while at Columbia ..

NOTE: Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan
School , then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political
Science major in the same class in which Barack Hussein Obama states he was.

Some other interesting questions..

Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002?

Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by Court Order?

It is circulating that according to the U.S. Census, there is only one
Barack Obama but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases.

WHAT!! ??? The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut
where he is never reported to have lived.

No wonder all his records are sealed!

Somewhere, someone had to know him in school...before he "reorganized"
Chicago & burst upon the scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention & made many swoon with his charm, poise & speaking pizzazz.

It is indeed a scary question when one thinks of our National Security. Have we had an outsider blindside us???

The only thing I found on his record was with the Senate and he NEVER stood for anything! I think the Liberals had everything to do with his getting voted into office! I have read and found was all at Government sites and his relationship with Rev Wright whose all wrong about Christianity!) No love was learned there, just all Black Pantherism! They showed nothing but racism and hate for all whites and are for the Downfall of America; and will happen under Obama and him at the Helm of the USA; because he has no standards!

What gets me is how he was so chauvinistic that a great majority of some Christians and even some Jews voted for him; and he was for everything that was not endorsed by the church and yet he won? Many of them believed he was their Messiah (not mine)! I wonder if the Masonites had anything to do with his being voted in the Whitehouse. I am thinking all the machines had to be rigged! How could there be that many ignorant and blind people to vote for him? And it has nothing to do with him being an African America. He sure is no Martin Luther King. I have more respect for Martin Luther King! He at least had respect for G*D, the word of G*D , the law and the USA constitution! Obama has No respect for anything but Muslims. Nothing for Christians! Martin Luther King was at least was an honest man and respect for other people! But OBama he has no respect for anything and not even the constitutional law! It was why he got disbarred! Makes me wonder about his illegal activities, but am sure those behind his becoming President sold out to those who are pulling the strings! Muslims Terrorist!

Obama hates America and wants to destroy it, but who cares? He cares more for Muslim countries than the USA! He's for Muslims rule not Christ to be ruling America! (I hear he's going to Rev Wright Jr's church.} The son of the man who cursed America! I wonder if that was reverse psychology since Rev Wrights church was so racist! Many Black Panthers went to Rev Wrights church too!

It pays to be informed. Many Americas were not! That's why Obama got in. They wanted someone young and felt a Black man would be good for the country! But what it was, was a lot of ignorant Americans sold their souls for pennies! Where's that $1000 dollar grant Obama promised to give to every American? I sure did not get it!

To Me Obama is nothing but a liar! He sold everyone out and don't be surprised if our country collapses just like all the other countries that gave into Liberalism and Communism! Both the same, in case you don't know it! They gave into Political correctness! What's so good about something so devious if we all end up begging for bread? Because as I see it, Obama is not making any jobs, and all infrastructure is collapsing and were still no safer in some Northern States and even more illegal's are poring into our country and offsetting any gains he has made, which are no gains if more people are out of work and more people are taking from the government as handouts! Down with liars in Politics! Just wish more people would do their homework BEFORE they vote, not after!

Wow! I do not consider myself a political person; I vote, but am not involved in local issues, etc. I am not sure what there is about Obama, but, when he was elected, I felt so ill I could have tossed my cookies. Maybe my gut feeling knew more than the rest of us.

Many, many questions exist about him, I'm afraid, and not a lot of answers. He could no doubt clear up many by being a little more forthcoming with information, but he chooses not to. Makes one wonder. A lot. And pray hard.

I believe Karl Rove had a friend who DID see Obama at Harvard, but you are absolutely right...no one seems to have known him at Columbia. I'm reading a great book about Abraham Lincoln. There are so many facts about his life through letters, newspaper articles from that time, and even photos. It's disconcerting to know so little about a US president, especially one with questionable advisers and friends. I did read "Manchurian Candidate" and while I'm not a conspiracy theorist, it does cause me concern. In the movie "Conspiracy Theory" Mel Gibson's character believes all kind of crazy things--but, one important time, he was RIGHT!

Another Era of My life is Over

Thursday, April 21, 2011

I sold my Tin Lizzie, the long arm quilting machine.

I bought it with all good intentions of getting a lot of work done with it.

Instead, it really turned out to be just another place for me to pile up fabric, patterns, books, completed or nearly completed projects, magazines, notes to myself, you name it, it held a lot of piles!

Long arm machines are wonderful; don't get me wrong. But they're not wonderful if one doesn't use them for anything other than a rack.

My "Little Sister" in the quilt club, Mary Ann, bought it.

I am certain she will get much use out of it, which is better for all of us.

I always use my little table top Elna

She serves me well, and has many miles on her. I love that machine!! We know each other's temperaments, and get along quite nicely. Turning the music on, sitting at my Elna and creating something wonderful is about the best form of relaxation I get.

This is an end of an era for me. I can feel it. I can smell it, I can see it.

I am down-sizing.

Yes, I have finally reached that point in my life that, if I don't use it, I don't need it. Pass it on to someone who will get use out of it.

I have a new passion for quilting now. I want to make wall quilts from my photos of places I have been on my hikes around my beautiful scenic peninsula.

My eyes aren't what they used to be, so I am turning to art type of quilting. I want to get as many done as I can while I can still see to do them.

Ah yes. Another corner has passed in my life. My values have changed. My lifestyle itself has changed.

I am a much more simple person now that I am getting older.

That doesn't mean I am sedentary. No, not at all.

I still walk fast, exercise, laugh, get excited about stuff and have wonderful, FUN friends. I still travel to places I have yet to see. I still dance.

I am more concious of what I eat, and my taste buds have changed there, too.

I'm not big on red meats any more. Occassionally it is okay, but I prefer veggies and fruit and fish.

Life is good when I can part with "things" and "stuff" that I don't use. I don't need the ego boosters any more.

It is OKAY to let go. It is FREEDOM from WANT.

It is being happy being just who I am and what I do.

I like it this way!!

Of COURSE, I will continue QUILTING!!

I guess I'm not ready to downsize yet.....I looked at that quilting machine and turned green with envy! LOL! Of course, I have no room for it, but it's something I would love to have. I look forward to the day I can part with more things and feel okay with it. sigh....

A little back to basics would be good for all of us. Simplify, simplify, simplify, - being a child of the 80's this is not an easy task for me. I have to check my progress regularly. Thanks for the reminder - just in time for spring cleaning!

Thank you for posting this--I was a wee bit worried when I saw your 'feed' this morning, but I didn't think you were going to really quit quilting. I need your help with those quilt tops, you know!

Downsizing is a good thing that I'm slowly working on as well; letting go of things we no longer need or use and blessing others (who WILL use them) is wise. I think of all the 'stuff' we had to go through after my mother and mother-in-law passed away, and I shudder to think what my daughter would have to deal with if something happened to me before I purge a whole bunch. Time to get to it!

This is going to get interesting. When the vote comes in May to increase the debt ceiling and the Democrats try to demonize the Republicans for demanding more cuts instead of raising the debt ceiling I wonder if anyone will remember what Senator Barack Obama had to say about raising the debt ceiling when he voted against it in 2006.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.

Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.

Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities."

Think we ought to send him this, just in case he forgot???? emoticon

yes we all ought to REMIND obame of his promises and better yet, Impeach him, for failure to keep his word! I am still waiting for my $1000 dollsrs he promsied every voter for voting Democatic, I want my tax break! But I would rather he just leave Social Security and Medicare alone!

Has anyone read what he wants to do? So far he has not given us what we been promised. Whats next will he start killing off the elderly so he can balance the budget by taking possession of our wealth left behind? I think that is how he may go.

Sooner or later someone will see the truth of all his lies and say ," ENOUGH is ENOUGH", and Americans will all revolt, like they are around the globe! WE shoudd just stop paying our taxes and see how far Government can go or work without it. What if we all just dont pay our taxes until the following year? WE can then put them out of Business! I am one for revolting! WE would probably do better without any State or Federal Leaders, people take up the slack, help one another, we'd be better off without Political Leaders, because sooner or later we will be forced to help oen another or go down with this Politrcial farce of a Leader! Hes no Leader, hes only beena folower! Hes been following the Communism and ways fo the world! I say spend all your money now before Obama finds a way of taking it from you! Thats what he plans on doing!

I Feel Good While I Do My Taxes

Friday, April 08, 2011

You know, I realized today that I actually feel good while I am doing my taxes.

It makes me feel accomplished and productive.

Oh, don't get me wrong.

I, like all of us, wish we never had to do taxes. But we all are familiar with the quote "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride".

So instead of grousing about having to do them, like it or not, why not enjoy it?

After all, it IS the adult thing to do, isn't it.

I used to have a CPA do our taxes, and he and I really big time did not like each other. I dreaded having to go to him.

He was very good at what he did, but had the personality of a hungry shark.

Now that we are both retired, doing our taxes has become quite simple actually. Especially with the Turbo Tax help.

I just enter the correct numbers in the correct place, get it all filled in, and send it off.

When I click the send button, I feel GOOD. I feel ADULT. I feel FINISHED.

The best part though???

I get to play in my quilt room after with no feelings of "I SHOULD BE DOING......"

I have earned my play time.

Good for you. I really hate doing them but it is something we have to do. I am more in the middle of ours. Ours are fairly easy but our son's are a little more complicated. You are right it is quite easy with Turbo tax and you really do feel good when they are done. Thanks for reminding me to get off my but and just do them.

I dont work, so I dont have to do taxes.... am enjoying retirement even if its forced retirement. May have to skimp and pinch pennies but dont have to worry about doing or paying taxes, but I hate having to pay taxes on everything I buy! Too bad we cant get all that back agter retirement! all those taxes! And we get NOTHING, and in fact Obama wants to cut back our medicare!

You seriously earned that play time, Sandy! We used to have someone else do our taxes, too; then we realized that in order to do that, we had to gather all the pieces of information together for him in the first place, and that was the worst of the work. Plugging in all the numbers, especially with software, is easy; why pay someone to do that?!
