Taking this one week at a time, I have now lost 12 pounds. I have switched to wraps and sometimes use a large leaf of lettuce as my bread. I track everything I eat, even snacks. (Especially them, lol.)

I exercise as much as possible daily, even 5 minutes when I cannot find 30. I am working on changing my motto from "oh darn! not enough time to do 30 minutes" to "even 1 is better than none". I have found ways to stretch 1 to 10. emoticon

On April Fools day I'm on the lookout so I don't get surprised by a prank, but I was not prepared for my scale to get me today. I have lost 11 pounds this week emoticon

I got through the first week of the 8 week diabetic challenge, and EVERYthing I ate was tracked. I managed to stay away from the evening snacking I like to do all but one night; I was over on calories only 1 night out of 7.

I don't expect results like this next week, but it sure was a nice kickstart for me. 11 pounds. Double digits. 2 pounds away from the 'teens'. Now, this week, when I want a snack, I can tell myself "Hey! look what no extra snacking did last week!!"

emoticon I want to try to increase my elliptical time from 6 minutes to 10 minutes a time this week, and I want to try walking a 1/2 instead of a 1/4 mile.

    Congratulations! 11lbs is awesome. controlling the snacking really helps and one night a week is totally ok to let your guard down a little bit. Keep going you seem to be doing great on this challenge. :)

Yesterday's entry was short, so now I'll fill in the highlights from the last year.

We spent Jan through Mar of 2011 with our oldest son and his wife. Then in April, we went to see our two youngest sons, and their wives. We got to take one of the grandkids to a baseball game, where the our team won and we were ALL happy. For Memorial Day, we stayed a week at the beach with my mother, and I got to do something I always wanted to do - go parasailing!! It was awesome. And my MOTHER went with me because DH was afraid, lol.

The sad part of that weekend was that our 19 year old peke passed away. We rescued her when she was 3 1/2. All of you with furbabies know how hard it is to let them go.....

In June, we went to daughter's new (old) house and had so much fun helping the grandkids there to paint and decorate their rooms. DH and DSIL put in a gorgeous mosaic tile floor in the master bath, using reclaimed ceramic tiles.

In August we went back to the two youngest sons' for another visit. Three of the grandkids went to the baseball game, this time. Since the grandkids rooted for different teams, we knew SOMEONE was not gonna be happy....but the fun of being at the game made up for it.

Last Aug and Sep found us in NY, visiting hubby's mom. There, we had some scary moments when we thought that hurricane Irene was going to hit. It did, but not where we were.

In November, hubby's mom came to visit us for Thanksgiving, and we took her back in mid-Dec, then rushed on to daughters' house to spend Christmas with her family.

A wonderful start to this year is that I have been able to visit with my half-sister. We last saw one another in 1976. And, we have a new grandbaby.

All the "on the road, again" moments, along with a stretched achilles tendon played havoc with my diet and exercise. However, I am, as I said yesterday, back again, and starting over. Reading back over this - wow, did I have a busy15 months!! And so many blessings to count.

Well, I'm back and trying again. I've a bad shoulder, and knee problems, so I have to go easy. I am now having problems with my achilles tendon, but my doctor says I can exercise s-l-o-w-l-y IF I quit when it starts to hurt. So far, so good.

I started doing the Walk Away the Pounds 3 weeks ago. When I began, I was only able to do 5 minutes, but I'm up to 15, now.

We baought a used elliptical, and I'm up to 5 minutes twice a day on that, too.

I joined the 8 Week Diabetic Challenge.

End of one month and new beginnings

Well, bummer - I didn't make a single goal that I set for August, and in fact gained 3 pouinds.

BUT...I am NOT down or depressed, and I will just start again tomorrow.

September goals are:

1 - start a walking program
2 - 30 minutes exercise daily
3 - reach my 1st goal weight of 249 by the 30th

    Stay focused, make wise choices EVERY day, be strong, remind yourself daily of your goals and your absolute ability to reach them, and be diligent!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

    Go Girl!!! You can do this! You have the right attitude so look forward to seeing less of you at the end of next month.

Had a set back in February, was in intensive care for over a week and on prednisone for several weeks. Not good news when you put back on what you worked so hard to get off. But never give up, only have 2 more pounds and I will be back where I was in January, but my overall health is 10 times better. Rather have those 2 pounds and better health now. Health is hard to get back, but eventually the weight will go.
