Getting back on track...when you lost motivation.

Well, I'm probably different than some people in this area. Usually when I lose motivation, it's when I am extremely tired...both physically and emotionally or feel overwhelmed with everything. So, I simple walk away from it all for a short time. Half way watching what I eat, drink. take a break from exercise and get some rest. I am sure this wouldn't work for everyone...but, it does for me.

    Nancy, the thing about all of us is that what works for you may or may not work for me. What matters is that it works for you. Taking a break from things makes perfect sense. It gives you a chance to regroup, revise (if needed) what you've been doing and time to just relax a little.

    Nancy they different strokes for different folks. We are all motivated in different ways and so we have to find what works best for us. Taking a break for awhile makes total sense gives you time to rethink, refocus and regroup.

    I don't think you are much different from me. I definitely lose motivation when I am physically or emotionally tired, and I think taking a break for awhile makes total sense. We need time to rejuvenate and heal.

Things I Like About Fall

The cooler weather....enjoying hot coffee or hot chocolate, wrapped in a blanket sitting outside.

The fall decorations with flowers, scarecrows, baled hay outside and the fall colors of things inside.

The changing colors of the leaves, raking, playing in them and the smell of them burning afterwards.

Hayrides, bonfires, smores, etc. with family. Grandkids love it!

Slow down from Spring & Summer work.

Making a list of books that I'd like to read during the winter.

Planning & preparing Thanksgiving dinner for all the family!

Just a great time for me!

    I love all of these fall things, too! I can't wait to have grandkids (although I am not rushing my son! LOL) so I can go on a hayride and corn maze again! Fall sure is a cozy season!

Week 2 A & I Team Challenge Blog

Are you looking forward to cooler weather? Yes, very much! I love the Fall season. It is a time for me, that I can slow down the work from the gardens, harvesting the garden, mowing the yards, hay season, etc.

What is your favorite outdoor fitness activity to do in the fall?? Raking leaves, making huge piles and playing in them with our grandkids!

    My mom and dad have such great memories of raking the leaves and jumping in them when their grandkids were young. I hope to one day have grandkids of my own to do the same thing!

    I love the fall, especially September.. it is my favorite month of the year.. next to, of course with my first son being born on Christmas Eve in December that is my all time favorite then there is February when my second and final son was born. But I have already been raking leaves and burning. emoticon

    I love the season for the way that our Lord paints the environment. All the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges make the landscape look so nice, that I just like to drive and look at it. I don't care for the raking , as I have an acre and a third, and it's a lot of raking, I mulch them up mostly.

The 15 Minute Rule

She was a vibrant picture of health and an inspiring speaker. The audience was stunned to see a slide of her when she was morbidly obese. She had lost 125 pounds. She spoke about how diet and exercise saved her life. During the question-and-answer session, a middle-aged man asked her what she did when she wanted to go off her diet and when she didn't feel like exercising.

"Let me tell you one of my secrets," she said. "I call it 'The 15-Minute Rule.' When I crave something I shouldn't eat, I tell myself, 'I CAN eat that, but I have to wait 15 minutes.' Invariably, something happens in that 15 minutes to get my mind off food. I get a call, I get an e-mail, or someone stops by to visit. Sometimes, believe it or not, nothing happens, but the craving goes away on its own anyway.

"As for exercise, whenever I don't want to work out, I have a little negotiation session with myself. I tell myself that I'll work out for 15 minutes and then I'll renegotiate. Ninety percent of the time, that 15 minutes of activity breaks down my resistance. But there have been a few times when I've walked out of the gym after just 15 minutes.

"So the next time you're confronted with a huge project, a mundane task, a craving, or whatever--try the 15-Minute Rule."

    I love this blog. I'm going to use this rule. Was that you or did you hear it somewhere. In either case I'm so glad you shared it with us. I'm maintaining right now. It's been just over a year and my weight has creeper about five pounds. I think this will help me lose that 5 pounds along with my other tricks. Thanks!

    Thanks for the motivation on my blog. This is a good one! I'm forcing myself to workout in the morning from now on, because otherwise I find I talk myself out of it as the day goes on and if I just wake up and do it- its done.
