The Fear Spreaders

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I heard on the news that "iodine" was now out of stock on store shelves, because people here on the US West Coast believe they need it to stave off radiation flowing over from Japan.

Personally I think that's bunk, but for anyone who is truly worried about such (heck even the report I heard could be bunk, everyone wants their attention and will grab for it in unscrupulous ways) here is an informative link on what to do "IF" such a thing really does happen:

SparkBirdie nothing I can do about the holistic radiation treatment site... I'm sure they are swamped. It's the BEST place I was able to find for radiation info and help. So many people have logged on they have gone over their bandwidth limit... you'll just have to try again at another time.

Anna your heart is always in the right spot.

I have thought of iodine, but I couldn't access the website because everyone else is trying the site. Can you give it to us in a nutshell?

Me neither, and our local news hasn't mentioned anything about people stocking up on iodine either. Thanks for the links, though.

Death By Medicine

Sunday, March 06, 2011

I'm watching the documentaries: "Dying to Know"/"Beautiful Truth"
www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Truth-World
s-Simplest-Cancer/dp/B001J66JQ8/ref=sr
_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1299452655&sr=8-2

ence-Natural/dp/B001J66JQI/ref=sr_1_1?
ie=UTF8&qid=1299452655&sr=8-1

In the movie(s) Health Activist/Advocate Carolyn Dean MD, refers to an article titled:

"Death By Medicine"

It starts like this:

"Something is wrong when regulatory agencies pretend that vitamins are dangerous, yet ignore published statistics showing that government-sanctioned medicine is the real hazard. "

If you care to read it in full click on the link below. It's 6 pages.

_awsi_death_01.htm

..................
In the movie I'm not really being apprised of facts I don't already know exist (and that are very disturbing), but seeing the black and white hard evidence and a ton of it, gives such pause... it nearly takes my breath.

* There is a second article by the doctors "Death By Modern Medicine" (I think) but "I've yet to find it, and I don't have the time at present.... but soon.

I just found out you can watch the full length documentary online. Link:

This is why I tend to believe European and Japanese studies rather than our U.S. studies. Europeans are more open to alternative therapies and are more about prevention through diet than we are, because there's not as much of a financial incentive for them to invent the next great wonder drug. I started using alternative therapies 15 years ago for my autoimmune disease out of frustration because doctors were saying there was "no treatment" and that rest was the only thing I can do. I'm proving them wrong every day.

Thank you Blue!! Guess there is not a lot of $$$$ in natural items. Even the estrogen sold through drug companies uses natural estrogen and then adds a chemical so that they can charge the big $$$. It is the chemical that is thought to cause the breast cancer. I see a chiropractor, never thought about an acupuncturist. Will see if there are any in my area - and, of course, need to check the medical plan.

I have been going for acupncture as well, but I go
to the teaching College and as a pensioner, I only
pay $5 a visit.

Has helped my asthma greatly.

TRISHP1961 3/6/2011 9:02PM

Interesting! I started to see an acupuncturist in February, 2010. My asthma has dramatically improved by following his protocol. None of his visits are covered by my health insurance even though they are much cheaper than my asthma medicine and asthma doctor are! Instead of having a $80 co-pay for expensive asthma meds, I am paying the acupuncturist about $100 a month for herbs. I feel so much better! I am saving my health insurance a lot of money by avoiding all the drugs and costly specialist visits I used to have...It is a shame that alternative medicine isn't covered so people have no choice.

Niacin

Monday, February 28, 2011

New information to me:

"Niacin can raise HDL — the "good" cholesterol — by 15 to 35 percent. This makes niacin the most effective drug available for raising HDL cholesterol. While niacin's effect on HDL is of most interest, it's worth noting that niacin also decreases your LDL and triglyceride levels. High levels of LDL and triglycerides are significant risk factors for heart disease."

BLUE-MEANIE the last time I had to have a surgery, I drove back down to
Clovis, CA (where I lived before I lived in here WA State) and had surgery there at St. Agnes Hospital, by someone my *old* doctor recommended.

I ENVY your doctor... oh I wish, I wish!
You lucky girl!

I started the Niacin on my own... (Had to find out about it and everything else on my own too!!) The flushing isn't bad, but the itching was intolerable...he he he

My doctor put me on Niacin several months ago to raise my HDL. I love her - she was educated in the Ukraine, so she has a more open-minded view of alternative treatments. She likes homeopathic remedies also. She suggested Sinusin for my chronic sinus headaches/allergies. She also told me to make sure I'm getting enough magnesium for the hypothyroid. I've NEVER had a doctor tell me to increase supplements or to take new ones - other than Calcium & Vit D.

I'm taking 500 mg of NO-FLUSH Niacin. This kind reduces the incidence of hot flashes that regular Niacin can cause. I certainly don't need any more of them!

There's something to be said for doctors who are educated in other countries.

Did you get your cholesterol done when you got your celiac panel? I hope so. Then you can gage if niacin worked for you.

I've been taking niacin for years. I first tried the non-flush, but it did nothing. I then tried the flush (you can take it before bed to keep you warm and not startle anyone else cause you can get a 'rush' and turn red ... I blogged a pic - I'm BEET red). That was 500mg. I've been on 1000mg for a few months ... hmm, maybe that's why my last cholesterol labs got better. I gotta check timing on that. :) I will get more labs in about 3 mos. and let you know.

Edit: Nope, it wasn't the niacin. I found my blog entry for you: http://bit.ly/gLHCRF . But it will STILL be interesting next cholesterol lab taking more niacin.
emoticon

I've read niacin can raise blood glucose levels, but also found this article from a fave cardiologist blogger: http://bit.ly/fJVU5L
