Headaches, squirrel mode and cool things!

Saturday, January 08, 2011

I do suffer with migraines, this wasn't one, it was however a doozy of a headache lasting three days, last night it spread to my neck aching, which in turn provides the feedback for your head to hurt worse of course *rolls eyes*.

My brother also suffers badly and I knew he had created his very own concoction of pills that's provided him with relief at last. I did take slightly less as my 'little' brother is a good 8/9 inches taller and several stone heavier!! It did however include two ProPlus... Caffeine pills!

Since taking this, the headache cleared, as did my wardrobe, storage chest, chest of drawers AND under my bed in the burst of squirrel like speed and buzz this provided!! Two more bin bags of junk out of my flat.

Then I walked into town with a bag of stuff for charity shop (more way too big clothes).

And walked back with three so so so cute tops, that I spent the princely sums of £1, £1 and £1.24 on!! I think that's fine going!

I constantly get migraines, and they suck. Thankfully, I've started to realize what seems to trigger them, anything white (white rice, white bread, white pasta) and anything with ALOT of refined sugar. so long as I can stay away from those things, I'm OK@

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, AND that you were able to clean bunches of things that you don't need!!

Doesn't it just make you feel lighter to get rid of things you don't need. It's like emotional/mental weight loss, getting rid of the baggage. I've got alot, I mean really alot of that to do. Stuff hanging around I haven't used for years. Hooray on the tops. I just bought myself a nice little dressy jacket at our local charity store this past week. So exciting to get some new-for-me stuff in a smaller size.

New things eaten? Tasty 2 : Ick 0!!

Friday, January 07, 2011

I have have Chai Tea in Starbucks before, several stolen sips from a non-coffee drinker, and had liked. I however drink my drinks black at home and when I bought chai tea I was super dissapointed in how bitter it was.

Added coconut milk and its GOOD!

I dont plan to have it all the time, simply because its not a way I need to spend my calories right now, but a nice evening treat perhaps, might freeze coconut milk in an ice cube tray to make it more useful than opening a can and having to use it all.

Also today I tried beef heart, simply fried, no added fat, plenty of black pepper, with sauerkraut and mustard... and oh its good!! Cheap red meat thats tasty!
Going to have it tomorrow aswell!

I think perhaps this should be one of my ideas for the new year. Organ meats are CHEAP, they are also crammed with nutrients, beef heart was generally comparable in calories to plain chicken, but way tastier if you know how to cook it.

Hmmm chai tea. I've tried a lot of tea's... but this is bitter? I should look it up, i love trying new things, it should be a hobby, hah.

One of my dad's FAVORITE meals is chicken gizzards and peas. My mom used to make them "Chicken a la King" style in the crockpot with noodles or over toast. Delicious.

Not sure how high in fat/calories your coconut milk is, but I always drink my chai with a bit of skim milk and a teaspoon of honey. Does the trick nicely and isn't too costly in the daily limit.

LEAN-N-LEXY 1/7/2011 12:02PM

Chai tea doesn't have to be high calorie, or bitter. The easiest way I get a chai experience is with Celestial Seasonings "Bengal Spice" variety herbal tea and low fat milk. The particular spices in this blend have a natural sweet taste to me, so I rarely add any sweetener. When I do want to perk up the flavors with a little sweetness, just a little will do. (Saccharine or a dab of sugar).
Coconut milk? Wow! That would make nearly anything taste fantastic; but yeah a lot of calories.

Beef heart? Some of the cheap, pre-made burgers in our favorite grocery add that and the taste becomes different because of the organ meat. You're actually making me want beef liver. !! That's yummo.

Never had coconut milk nor beef heart - love my tea bitter - all tea. Always have, and I do not drink cofee.
When living in UK, I was making tea for people and enjoyed putting milk in it for them - always got a kick from that - always thought I wish someone could see this back home! LOL
Trying new things is good. I do it ever so slowly, but I try. I can't cook meat well, looking for ways to cook food fast and get the meat tender - mostly eat chicken LOL

Junk... and very old papers.

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Soooo in pondering moving sometime this year, my mind turns to what I actually need.

Cue three bin-bags of junk being taken down my stairs... hey, I live on the third floor, that's three flights of stairs that I did three separate times, free cardio minutes!

Plus I decided the paranoia about maybe needing paperwork at some point needs to end.
When you are holding onto credit card statements from 1999 I think there is an issue. Also have statements from my closed FAT GIRL store card and clothing catalogues, really wished they had asked why I closed them!!

So I get to have a bonfire of bank, credit card, bills and statements from 1999 to 2009... figured I needed a cut off point! I get to be WARM burning things at the weekend
*maniacal glint in eyes thinking about playing with fire*

Blah Blah its a new year...

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

Ok, so I am seeing lots of new year blogs and thought I should make an effort too.

However, I don't believe in making resolutions, nor that you need a date to choose to make a change.

Therefore.... my new years blog is simply saying I am going to carry on getting back on track after Christmas splurges and lose these few pounds gained and get back to maintainance.

Nothing special, nothing unachievablely dreamy, nothing new.

Just real, which is always how I am!

Back!

Monday, January 03, 2011

So, yes, despite SP not working, I am back from staying at my boyfriends, then at his families, then he came back with me to stay at mine for a while, this was the longest we had spent together!

I decided to not track and not read any labels and try not to care over Christmas and simply enjoy the foods. I don't drink, so that cuts out a whole load of potential calories!

I have put some weight on, being back at work tomorrow signifies being able to really get back on track, I WOULD be planning food if SP actually WORKED!

I got LOTS of goodies, a really cool satchel bag I had said I liked from Afflecks, black with stylised cat head print. Some books I wanted, a hammer horror mini set and another classic horror dvd, Thortons chocolates, warm ski socks, polar bear hat, chemical reaction handwarmer pads things.... this all from my boyfriend.
His Parents got me some books you Should read since his Mum is head of english!... they both look very good, also socks, jelly sweeties, little notebook, beaded bag.
His sister got a GIANT tub of nutella back from Italy where she has been for a few months.
My parents gave me money to get clothes, then a few little things so I'd have actual things to unwrap.. so some nice yves rocher smelly stuff, and a really nice mittens and scarf set.
Was pleasantly surprised and felt very welcomed by my boyfriends Aunt and Nanny both buying me gifts as well when we had an afternoon there for Boxing Day.

We went to Midnight Mass.... and coming home it was MINUS THIRTEEN... -13 degrees which is insane! Had a very very cold white christmas! Just up the road from where we where was the coldest in the country at -17. We used defrosting spray on screen.... which promptly froze. When your anti-freeze freezes... its COLD!

I ate LOTS of things I know have contributed to this gain in weight, but seriously, after loosing 180+ pounds, this is small fry and will be gone in a couple weeks of behaving... which at this time of year when everybody tries to be virtuous, should be easier.
I don't regret eating as I did, because I enjoyed things I will only be able to have at that time, I didnt eat breads, potatoes... anything that wasn't actually christmassy was ignored so I got to really enjoy the festive things instead.

Christmas has some horrible feelings for me, but this year I finally looked forward to it and I really did enjoy it. Those memories are not all fixed, but I can see that they are being fixed and next year can only be better.

My boyfriend makes me so very happy and I can see a wonderful future together, we have spoken about my staying there when I have had surgery, then after that... seeing about my actually moving there, so its all very exciting.

I am so glad you had a good Christmas. It sounds like your boyfriend's family really made you feel welcome. I had a weight gain too, but I am just jumping right back into my program and trying to move forward.
