Today I was motivated to go outside and workout. I have a volunteer motivator from one of my teams. I told my motivator/SparkFriend that my biggest hangup was getting outside to walk. Well, there, I said it. I had to go out then!

I can walk all day in front of the TV. Having lived in small towns the last 30 years has just spoiled me to jumping in the car whenever I leave the house. I even work at home.

I didn't go far, just to my back screen porch where my elliptical trainer is. It hasn't been used in a couple weeks, it has been too cold to go out, or that was the excuse I told myself. Now I am reading Spark blogs and updates of people going out in subfreezing weather to run. I'm in Central Florida and I checked the temperature right before my lunchbreak. It was 58 degrees. I've logged my time on the elliptical below:

FITNESS AND NUTRITION SCHEDULE


1. GET UP REFRESHED AFTER 8 HOURS SLEEP: yes!

2. BRISK WALK FOR 60 MIN: 45 minutes a.m., plus walked 15 minutes lunch.

3. CARDIO/TONING/STRENGTH: 15 min elliptical. SP bootcamp video of the day.

4. EAT 5 FRUITS--->Mixed frozen fruit, sliced strawberries, apple, 1/2 banana, raisins.

5 . EAT 3-4 VEGGIES: Carrots, celery, redskin potatoes, onions.

6. ONE MULTIVITAMIN: yes

7. 1000 mg FLAXSEED OIL 2-3 TIMES A DAY: yes

8. DRINK AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY: yes

9. DAILY DOZEN STRETCHES (recommended by employer): yes

10. DO SOMETHING NICE AND TRY NOT TO GET CAUGHT:

Today was my day off work. I got up ready to get my exercises done for the day! I've posted them below.

Did some cleaning and catching up with paperwork. Also received a few more registrations to my family reunion coming up in June. I'm getting excited.

I also got my Spark book today in the mail. I haven't read a chapter yet but will after I finish dinner.

I've decided to post my goals and successes below my daily blog.

MY DAILY FITNESS AND NUTRITION GOALS:

1.GET UP REFRESHED AFTER 8 HOURS SLEEP: yes!

2. WALK 2 MILES, 2 X DAILY: yes!, Leslie Sansone video.

3. CARDIO/TONING/STRENGTH: yes, plus bootcamp video.

4. EAT 5 FRUITS--->Mixed frozen fruit, strawberries, apple, fruit cocktail (drained), 1/2 banana.

5 . EAT 3-4 VEGGIES: Yes! 2 so far.

6. ONE MULTIVITAMIN: Yes!

    Feel free to steal. The stretching exercises are hamstring, active hamstring, inner thigh/groin, soleus, calf, tensor hip, quadricep, supine piriformis, chest, upper body, total body (my fav), and triceps stretch. I have them with illustration alls on one page. I work for a large hospital system so of course they are health conscious. It really helps me since I sit all day at a computer, I do a couple every hour.

    I really like your routine. Mine is similar. I may steal some of your ideas. What type of stretching did your work recommend? That's unusual. It's considerate.

I'm walking here, 4 miles, still no weight loss. Maybe I just overdid it during the holidays, you think? I am so glad most of that junk is gone. Only a few more Big Island cookies. Yet and still, my tummy is strinking, no longer a big round ball, finally getting some good definition.

    Just keep walking Paula. I have gone almost a month with no loss at all and then all of a sudden today I had a loss. Not huge but something. Just keep it up. It's coming.

Milk: Second switch day from 2% to 1% milk. DH had some in his breakfast cereal and didn't say anything. He had informed me when I switched to 2% he would use the 2% but no less. Maybe he didn't notice. You think? But..... Mom, who lives next door, has sent all her holiday company on their way and called me to come clean out all that excess food. And she told me to take the milk - this time the real thing - all fat vitamin D milk! My body has never been able to tolerate it but I'm sure DH will make chocolate milk for his dessert tonight.

The rest of the food was good stuff. Lots of berries, which mom doesn't like. Lots of salad greens. Some other fresh fruits. Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, etc.

I did two miles walking in front of the big screen, one this morning and one this afternoon. I have decided I like to work out early in the morning. I don't do that good in the afternoon/evening. Since I start work at 5 a.m. tomorrow, I'll have to work it in on an early break and then on my lunch break. Another advantage of working at home. If it's nice enough I may even go walk out in my back yard.

Ok, tomorrow is an early start. Time to wind things down.

    Hi Paula! Congrats on making the transition from 2% to 1%; I have yet to do that. My family is still adjusting to the 2%. The grandkids love it, but my husband is not as excited about it. Also good job on the walking. I have to get back to doing the walking in front of the tv. Your blod here has encouraged me to get motivted and moving. Thanks for sharing.

Today started out getting up a little early to do a 3 mile walk in front of the big screen. By the time I got ready for my walk, I realized I only had time for a 2 mile walk.

Then, I got a call from a co-worker a little after 6a reminding me I was supposed to start at 5a instead of 6:30. Ooops! In the end, my intended 3 mile walk turned into a 1 mile walk. I barely had time to stretch.

Today I started my body on an all natural zero calorie sweetener instead of that artificial stuff.

Today I also started my body on 1% milk instead of 2%. Baby steps but I believe my body will appreciate that diminished amount of fat over time.

Today I got an e-mail from my manager asking for 2 hours OT, so my 10-hour day will turn into a 12-hour day. Wish I had started at 5 this a.m.

Today I won a $5 gift certificate to the SparkStore because I pre-ordered The Spark! So I ordered a pedometer and a T-shirt.

Well I have several more hours to go so I will get back to work.

    You are doing a great job! In fact baby steps are the only way to go. large steps shock and hurt your system. My baby steps were taking myself off of sugar and salt. And now it is natural to me :-) Keep up teh great work!

    Just because your Plan A got changed you didn't give up emoticon And you are right, your body WILL notice and appreciate the changes you are making in your diet. One of the first changes I made--we go out to eat a LOT--was to get my salads without cheese and with dressing on the side. Baby steps are what will get you to the finish line.
