I really don't like my hair color grown out. It still has a lot off dark hair and gray here and there and lots under the dark hair. I have a thingy the I can fill with hair dye. It has 10 little tips for dye to come out. It is really for the roots. (why didn't I find this when I dyed my hair?) I had thought of covering some of the tips so just a little color came out here and there. That way the dark and gray would still be there, but some auburn would be there too.

See, I have a lot of dark hair and lots of gray underneith.

It makes me feel old.

P.S. I had been ocloring my hair auburn for years. I only thought maybe to put auburnm streaks in my hair now, if it would look right. I'd still rather color it all auburn, but don't want to hae to down the road let it grow all out again. Might be hard to put streaks in the same places all the time when time might be hard too.

My 96 yr old grandmother had hair like this....maybe that is why I feel so old.

Thanks for all the advise. Seems like the most tend toward going natural. This is a new hairstyle. I think I have a pix of me with my auburn hair, if not I'll put it in gallery.

Court, my hair is well was naturally auburn with gold undertones. I've been getting grey hair and it's more obvious... I did the coloring thing for awhile (my BFF is a cosmetologist and she's done coloring and weaves and all of that.). In the "color astrology" as my DH lovingly mocks it, from the book "Color Me Beautiful" by Carole Jackson (and I don't know if it is still in print - it came out like in the late 70's or early 80's), I'm considered a "Spring" because of the warm skin tones (yellow undertones), and gold or yellow (copper, bronze, brass) toned metals look best on me...

My mom is a winter, where she was a dark chestnut almost black when she was younger (when I was a kid), and it's almost pure white now. We discovered that shampoos made with Centaurea (like one of the Yves Rocher products) seemed to brighten her hair and take the yellowing out.

I just found this other website...

perhaps by tweaking shampoos you might achieve a more natural look and more blended look without having to resort to hair color.??

It's a thought.

But your hair style is cute and reminds me of my mom's hair style!

One final word from me - take it or leave it emoticon

Have a good friend who's very gray, and to spice up her look she'll add a streak of pink...or green...or whatever she feels like on any given day. She doesn't do the whole head, just the streak.

I have not let my color grow out in a while but I like having mine colorde. The gray streaks I had were not attractive and made me look sallow, drab and made me sad. I keep asking my niece of they make snow white hair dcolor but she tells me no. ; (

I think you need to do what makes YOU feel sparkly. I am waiitng to retire so I can try out a cobalt blue I have had my eye on. If I was in high school , I would be one of those girls with the rainbow hair! LOL

Maybe you sould try a new hair style before you color again? when I have doubts about color I go to the hair stylist, after all it is what they do for a living and most will be honest with you whther you color your hair or not. They often have samples of colors for you to see as well.

Aged to PERFECTION, Courti. Oh, my worRRRRRD, Courti, I too have the world of cosmetology under my path, but I would certainly NEVER tell you to color and... in my opinion, I would be a LIAR to tell you that this natural color makes you look old!! I can not stress how absolutely GORGEOUS a head full of shades of grey and moonlit SILVER compliments you!!

Look... you're wearing a silver (stainless/platinum) watch and it looks LOVELY next to your skin coloring.

SEE your pearl earrings. They are soft white and SHIMMER the silver strands rippling through your hair.

In my professional opinion, no, auburn is a color you may love/need for feeling the 'flecks' of fire in your life... so pick an outfit or scarf up in those shades and mix it with your blues, greys, non-blues and non-greens (your t-shirt looks like a non-green or bluish green on my monitor and really compliments your skin tone) but don't pour it on your head.

If you're 'bent' on coloring, then get every swatch of red (my specialty was creating every possible shade and mix of RED imaginable in the color lab) and experiment with holding them up to NATURAL light (not yellow light bulbs or fluorescent lighting) to *see* which ones SPARKLE your skin, eyes, smile.

Sigh, sigh, SIGH........just looking at your BEAUTIFUL photos leaves me sad.....why, oh WHY do you have this feeling of being "OLD"? (Please note that I use the world in QUOTES!)

I am 55 (yeah, I own up to it with no problem - if only PERMANENT EMPLOYERS would get a clue - but that's another story) and do not, nor plan to, color my hair - and my shade is very, very similar to yours.......as a matter of fact, my "go-to" stylist who I just saw yesterday for a badly needed trim praised my natural color to the hilt! This is coming from a gal who definitely would financially profit from my getting on the color "bandwagon", but has never even suggested that I do so!

Feel free to ignore this blog as you wish - but I wanted to affirm for you just how beautiful you are despite the misgivings you feel about your current hair color!

OH, I'm not happy with m hair. I hate it. I like the little auburn streaks that are left from the last coloring I had before letting it grow out. I just feel with a little aauburn, I'd feel better...it would have some color to it. I feel old with gray hair, but the dark I don't like either.

I want to be auburn, young and 5'6". hahahahhaha

Were you asking for my opinion, or just talking it out?

I'm weighing in anyway, just in case. You can ignore, because YOU are the one who must be happy and confident that you are letting us see who you are. And who you are has nothing to do with your hair, it's so temporary. Trust me.

I think your hair is beautiful the way it is.

The color is fierce wise, your hair is shiny like a kid's, and natural.

Maybe answer this question: Does your hair style and color allow you to be you?

And if you decide to color totally or in streaks, is there a way to "try it out" with a temporary coloring system, or even by trying on some wigs?

Finally, I detected a little pang of wanting to add flair. If you decide you are happy with your hair, where else can you add flair?

Since I only know you like this, I think you look beautiful! If you colored it, I'd probably think it was great too- you should do what you like the best.
As for me, I went gray for awhile after my hair started growing back after the chemo wiped it out, but then got tired of looking so bad- light hair isn't good on me- gray or blond. I need darker hair.

It just makes me feel ugly and old. Before I let it grow out, my beautician said it would make me look old....words to that affect. She's family so it wasn't an outsider.

I like your hair color! But, of course, I am partial for natural color, since I am allergic to dye so what you see is what you get with me. :)

I let mine grow out for a couple years, but have gone back to coloring it. Amazing the difference in the way people react, don't think I will let it grow out again.

My sister-in-law is back in the hospital. She was dehydrated, sodium was now too low and Potassium hight (was the opposite before.) and a urinary track infection. Also she wasn't eating properly.

They need to try to balance ut her sodium/potassium. She wasn't very happy to be back in the hospital to say the least.

CoHP - Tackling something I fear

Thursday, November 08, 2012

One of the challenges for this week on the Challenge of Harry Potter is to write a blog on something that we fear.

I guess my fear is that I will get into a lazy mood and not keep up my exercises and eating somewhat health. Okay, so I'm not tracking much, but I'm doing better than I was. It doesn't take much for me to fall out of routine.

I'm making progress now and fitting into my jeans that were tight. I just hope I can keep up a daily routine of cardio and ST. To work on abs and hips especially. I let myself go too long and taking the fat off my obliques seems like a challenge in itself. haha

You got this girl! Just keep at it and it'll happen. The biggest obstacle we face every day is getting off our butt and making the effort to make those healthy decisions. Awareness I think is also part of the battle, and you've defeated that one. Just take it one day at a time!

Thanks for the information - it's such a devastating time for so many. My daughter-in-law's entire family is there. I heard early in the day things were okay, but nothing since the storm really hit. Her dad lives in Jersey City right on the river, you can see the lower Manhattan skyline from his condo, I hope all is well with them.

Another update on SIL

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

We took my SIL to her doctor's appt to get the results of her scan. They believe some of the swelling is pockets of fluid after all, which is good. We took her to the hospital where they will do what they have to do to see about draining what fluid they find. Her son is staying overnight with her.

We're glad it isn't all tissue, because I don't think they could do anything for her. Please pray that most of it is fluid.

I think she'll only be in the hospital a couple days.

We appreciate all your prayers, that is what has gotten her this far.
