It's been like 3 weeks since I have logged in and done anything! Today I am kicking myself in the ass and committing to get back on track. Still watching my food but it's so much better when at the end of the day you can look back and see what you did right or did wrong. I am going to work out today and getting myself remotivated (if that's even a word...LOL). It will be an awesome week. I am officially half way finished with school. I do have more confidence than ever before in my life. I am so happy to have SparkPeople to be able to look back and see where I started and where I am now! Have a great week everyone! Keep on keeping on!

Doing something for ME!

Sunday, June 26, 2011

I have always put everything/everyone else before myself. I'm not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing but in return I haven't always taken proper care of myself. I had a husband and kids to raise. So as most wives/moms they put everything else before themselves.

I have been taking much better care of my nutrition/health in the last several years. I have been on SP for a little over 3 years now. I have had great success with my weightloss right before and since joining SP. I don't always log on and track like I should but I am ALWAYS aware of everything that I put in my mouth. I feel much better than I did prior to changing my eating habits. I have always been negative and extremely down on myself. I am finally starting to learn to love me and accept me.

I recently enrolled in a well know hair academy to get my cosmetology license. I used to be a salon co-owner working on an apprenticeship to get my license but I let everything get in my way. Whether it was trying to keep up with who/whatever my ex was doing or running 3 teenagers around all over creation and back. I was 140 pounds heavier than I am now and lacked the confidence and physical ability to be successful in my career. My partner and I wound up selling the salon and I floated around to various positions in sales and customer service but was never really happy with anything that I was doing and never felt the degree of success that I had felt when I was in a salon.

Since enrolling in school I have never been happier. I realize that this is the first thing that I have done for ME in a very long time. My attitude about everything is so much more positive. I don't know when I have ever been happier. I still get tired and have a long way to go in my weight loss but I feel better than I ever have about myself. My now ex husband told me a year or so ago that I would never be successful. Well look at me now!!! I am not out of school yet but when I am I plan on owning another salon and being more successful than ever. I WILL continue to lose weight and share my story with other people who feel they will never make it. I want to help others look and feel beautiful about themselves. It is so important for us to believe in ourselves even if no one else does. I've waited 42 years to love myself and I am finally here. I am successful!!!

I did it!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

I have been slacking off for so long when it comes to nutrition but especially exercise. I finally went to the gym after work today and got on the treadmill. I set a goal and accomplished it...Now all I have to do is keep it up and not let anything stand in my way. I have a goal and I will achieve it. It may take me awhile. I fall down but I keep getting back up and that is what counts to me.

Fatty "Snow" Butt

Thursday, January 13, 2011

It has been snowing in Atlanta since Sunday. I have been trapped inside pretty much since Suday evening. I have eaten everything in site!!! Made Rocky Road Brownies, Peanut Butter Cookies, and whatever else came to mind. I don't know how people who live in the north cope with snow and being snowed in from time to time in the winter without gaining a ton of weight!!! Finally back at work today and back on track. Thanks so much MOTHER NATURE for helping me out! (not)

I live in the Chicagoland area... ridiculously cold winters with LOTS of snow, and hot, stiflingly humid summers. My key to getting through the winter is hitting up the exercise bike. It helps me to stay on track when it is 15 degrees outside (during the day- we won't get into night time) and with 8" of snow on the ground. I just go to town on that while I am watching x-files episodes on netflix instant view. I usually get 45 minutes in, and don't even realize it... while getting myself up to 60-65% of my max heart rate for the duration. I use this in the summer when it is too hot & humid to go out(even in the evening), too... You just get used to the crappy weather. I can completely understand where it would be a pain if you aren't used to it, though. Hang in there... spring is right around the corner (shhhh- I am trying to delude myself!)

I'm so jealous of all my southeastern friends and your snow!!! A few years ago it snowed 16 inches where I live, and stuck for about a week and a half. It was so fun! I was out in it every day playing with my dog and husband, walking to the store because I couldn't get my car out of my garage, and being more active than ever. Enjoy your snow, it's rare! Go outside and play, throw snowballs, walk to the coffee shop or wherever, take advantage of this opportunity!

I live in Van, BC and our snow is super wet and heavy, it mostly rains here (we rarely see snow, its weird being Canadian and saying that lol) I wore a heart rate monitor when I went and built a snowman with my husband a couple days ago, and i burned over 500 calories in just under an hour =D Loved it haha emoticon

For real! You know what's so funny though? My parents live in Colorado and their snow is nothing like ours. Theirs is dry as to where ours is wet. Also, every other state has got snow plows and we don't. Go figure!
