I love this time of year! Beautiful warm days, cool nights, lovely colors gradually showing on the trees. Pumpkin everything!
I have had a great couple of weeks! My youngest daughter, Lindsay turned 15 earlier this month. She is such a wonderful young girl. I love her so much! She's turning into such an amazing young woman and I can't wait to see what God has in store for her!
My oldest daughter, Chelsea, got engaged last weekend. She and her boyfriend, Dustin, have been together almost 3 years. We love him so much and are so excited for him to become a aprt of our family. I'm so happy for them both and can't wait to get to this wedding planning thing in earnest!
I just feel like my life is in a good place right now. Yes, there are still challenges and sorrows, but they are not going to lead me anymore. I'm putting them down, they are too heavy and I've carried some of them for far too long already. My heart feels open and ready for change and joy!
Enjoy this beautiful fall day where ever you are!

These past few days have been very busy! In addition to trying to get everything ready for our vacation, Lindsay has been putting the final touches on her 4H projects. She's doing Family History Treasure Hunt (genealogy) and Controlling the Image (Photography II). Her photos turned out really great this year and I'll be posting them later today after her judging is over. She is superstitious about anyone seeing them before the judge. :)
Summer gym was over after yesterday's session and now my girl can finally begin to really enjoy summer! After today's 4H judging and next week's vacation is our county fair. She does love the country life and really gets into the fair. I know we are all looking forward to the annual rodeo! I am NOT looking forward to the fair food, but I'll just have to eat before I go. I am going to get some kind of 'treat' before the fair ends. Not sure what that'll be yet. I just don't want to deprive myself because in the past that's when I start going crazy and eating everything.
Gotta get some laundry finished up and then I'm going to get a workout in and then relax for the rest of the afternoon.

Well, I weighed in this morning and lost another 1.1 pounds putting me down 36.2! I'm very excited and happy with the progress I've made so far. i have finally made the mind/body connection and have learned that my weight problem had as much to do with my thoughts, emotions and attitudes about food as it did with what and how much I was eating. It's good to sit down to a healthy meal and not feel deprived.
We are gearing up for vacation. We leave on the 1st. We're going to see Niagara Falls this year. We've never been. We've been to all of the Great Lakes except Lake Ontario, so we'll be checking that out as well. I'm looking forward to a getaway, but want to make sure that I stay on track while we're traveling.
Just came in from swimming so I need to jump in the shower and get a few chores finished up before it's time for my daughter's 4H meeting this evening.

I've been away from here for awhile, but I haven't been crazy off track. In April, I started again making changes and working out. I've lost about 10 pounds since then. I stayed away from here for a bit because I've tried so many times to make a new start only to get discouraged and give up. This time, I feel more positive and determined than ever before to regain my health. I want to be in better shape in my 40's than in my 30's. I'm on the right track for that to happen.
Another thing that has changed for the better is that my hubby is now on board with eating healthy and exercising. In the past he has always been very resistant to changing his eating (which was huge portions of fatty, sugary foods). Recently he was diagnosed with high blood pressure and was told by his doctor that he needed to lose weight, cut out junk food and low his sodium intake. He's lost about 25 pounds so far and I'm really proud of him. I think he understands now how hard it is to change lifetime habits and he realizes that having junk food in the house was hard on me when I was trying to eat right. Anyway, we are all (hubby, youngest daughter & me) working together to get fit and healthy. :)
Speaking of Lindsay, she finished middle school with a bang earning an award for all year merit honor roll (all A's all year) and an award for concert band. Keith and I are very proud of her and are excited for the new adventure of high school to begin this fall. She is taking Summer Gym (4 hours/5 days a week/3 weeks) to get her PE credit so she doesn't have to 'burn a period' during the school year on PE. She's working hard lifting weights, running, doing stadium runs, and playing tennis to earn her credit. She's super excited about how her body is changing and reshaping itself. She's also pretty proud of the fact that she's putting herself in a position to try new types of sports (she's been a soccer player since first grade). I love seeing her get into tennis and strength training!
Well, better go workout so I can get a shower and start my day!

I'm so glad that the long, cold winter is over and Spring is finally here! It's not very warm today, but the sun is shining brightly and I'm thankful for that!
I'm making a new start today. I have tried doing this without the support and motivation of Spark People and I have not been very successful. I've lost and regained the same 20 pounds over and over. It's time to stop goofing around and start taking my health seriously. I've always been someone who took care of everyone else, but now it's time for me to take care of myself. I've gone through some changes in thought in recent months and I am now ready to treat myself with care, concern, love and respect.
