Learning lessons every day

Monday, January 07, 2008

So I learned over the holidays that overeating doesn't feel good! Even so, life sometimes has to teach us the same lessons over again.

So this weekend I hung out with my best friend and we decided to have a couple of drinks. The only problem with this is that I haven't had anything to drink in a long time and I'm a lot smaller than the last time I did! So it apparently takes a lot less to get me more drunk than I desire.

Drunken Me decided that it would be a great idea to go to my favorite mexican restaurant. I never go there anymore and it sounded like a good plan at the time. I ended up eating a ton of chips and salsa before the meals came and then I ate my ENTIRE plate of cheese, beans and rice.

I immediately felt the familiar "I ate WAY too much" sensation. My husband, my friend and I all regretted it!

So the scale the next day said I had gone up a pound. Oh well, I figured as much. By eating right yesterday I was able to make the extra pound go away. I wasn't quite feeling well enough to exercise, so I was glad that I was able to just eat a little less than usual.

Today, I feel great! I'm getting right back into the exercise and eating RIGHT routine. I know that I feel amazing when I do it. Even if I ever crave something or feel like I just want to give up, I know I should just keep going. Not only will I let myself down, but I must remember that horrible feeling of being unhealthy.

It truly is about feeling HEALTHY, regardless of whatever size I end up being. Let's all stay healthy together.

You know letting go once in a while is all part of the plan. If you dont bend once in a while you will snap, and that usually leads to falling off the spark wagon. But keeping the 'once in a while' down to just once in a while is the key.
Man, now I feel like mexican food! Time to go down my tears for junk in a jug of water *sigh*

Oh gosh, I think I have experienced that for sure! Drinking is huge. I use to be able to drink 4 glasses of wine to get drunk. Now by the second I have a pretty good buzz going. Truth is we are all guilty of forgetting that horrible feeling of eating the wrong things and too much of that wrong thing. Then the way we feel after not only physically, but emotionally as well is enough to make us aware for a while longer.

Ya know the extra pound could have also been a little bit of water weight. There is alot of sodium in mexican food (especially salted tortilla chips).

Careful drinking alcohol, I have found that you dont always make the best decisions (eating and sometimes otherwise) when under the influence LOL!

But it sounds like you didnt do too horribly and got right back on track GREAT JOB!

I had no idea!

Ok, so I didn't know I was so motivating! Apparently mine is one of the sparkpages listed in the motivators section. On my sparkpage is a Sparkpeople Motivator icon below my profile picture.

Apparently people voted that I'm motivating because of my weight loss. This 1. makes me feel awesome! and 2. makes me feel guilty. Only because I know there are so many more people on this website that have lost much more weight than I have! Especially the ones who are working hard at keeping it off.

It does make me feel that I need to be showing a good example. Do I want that doughnut? No, I need to be strong!

I know I haven't exactly lost 70 pounds yet, but hey I'm a pound away and I decided to take a picture anyway. It felt like a good time to update.

Also, as soon as I've lost 71 pounds I'll be overweight! Which sounds weird to say. But I won't be obese anymore!!!!!!

Here's to a GREAT 2008!

Christmas is over!

I made it through.

Somehow I made it through DOWN a pound. I know I didn't eat well yesterday. In fact I went to bed nauseous from overindulging in cookies, candy, and various other holiday foods.

I did get a new mindset. I realized that I don't eat like that anymore for a very good reason. It isn't healthy! And I certainly felt unhealthy last night.

So, down a pound. I guess my body just needed a break from dieting. Or maybe my scale is insane. Either way, I am back to my regular eating schedule. I am back on my regular gym schedule.

Something weird happened

Thursday, December 13, 2007

So I had been planning to skip the gym yesterday. I'd been working my butt off, so I was going to take a break. I had a friend over with her kids and my mom showed up too. We were all hanging out when I got this burst of energy.

I didn't think much about it until I realized, "Hey, it's because I didn't workout this morning." So when it was time for them to leave I convinced my husband that we should go.

I didn't burn as much as I normally would have in a day, but I burned a decent amount! And it felt SOOOO good.

I never thought that I'd just be hanging out and actually wish that I was at the gym!

Your body is craving the energy release. It's necessary now for you to be able to be "normal." That's great!!

I give you kudos for going to workout even on your day off. Exercise can be so addicting once you get into it (it used to be for me)
