This reminds me of my childhood. My mother had a planter hanging outside our kitchen window that was shaped like a cage. One year a little sparrow (I think) built a nest there and I could stand on a kitchen chair on the other side of the window and look down into the nest. I got to stay home from school one day when the babies were hatching. Later we watched both parent birds encouraging the babies to take the big step out from between the "bars" of the planter for their first flight. Every year another bird (one of the previous year's babies maybe) came back and built another nest and raised another batch of babies.

Love this! How did the babies turn out? Seems like an exposed position for a nest... I use to get morning doves in my hanging flower baskets at times... something I often discovered when I tried to water them and they came flying out!
