I can't enlarge the pic enough to see the bird. I thought the hand was supposed to be Buddha's hand. I wondered what it meant.

Yes! I was a teacher of the deaf for 15 years. My degree from Penn State is in Communication Disorders/Teaching the Deaf. I am now a speech therapist for nonverbal children. I have written a book Hands on Literacy that summarizes the research on how signing with hearing children makes them better readers. If you'd like to buy a copy, I have some here for $9. You can go online to authorhouse and buy one for $9.95. Amazon and Barnes and Noble sell it for $11.95. My picture is actually a photo of a statue housed at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum. It is located on an outside playground. If you look closely, there is a bird on one finger.
