6 Year Maintainer, Beating The Odds!

Accurately tracking my food and fitness is what keeps me maintaining my weight loss. Thanks to Sparkpeople for getting me there!
Having RA since age 6.5, and years of hospital stays and surgeries (38 operations and counting) have kept me on a weight loss roller coaster my entire adult life. I have five artificial joints, but love to work out, the higher intensity the better. I have three forms of arthritis destroying my body, but fight to keep moving every body part they damage. That is all that stands between me and a wheelchair. My favorite fitness classes are Boxercise, Step & Zumba! My trusty elliptical keeps me moving on the days I can't get out. Winters are long and hard here and even more challenging to keep moving.

My Goals:
To stay as fit and healthy as my body will allow me.

My Program:
Getting at least 60 minutes daily of exercise. Online videos, (huge Jessica Smith fan!) DVD's and the elliptical as well as fitness classes at the gym when I can make it.
Walking and hiking a lot! I don't drive, so I walk every where I want to go!

Osteoporosis and a new mystery arthritis. 5 joints replaced, one failed and three foot surgeries with more to come. That is just life.

You know what my husband said the same thing about the magnesium and I would love to add supplements. But, they say online that if you take certain RX, which I do I can't take them. UGH! Folate is the same way. I am way low on both. Trying to look into my food options now. I think I will ask a pharmacist tomorrow to be sure. emoticon
Oh, by the way I decided to call our snake Spot! emoticon He sure is pretty and I wouldn't mind if he went somewhere else! emoticon

emoticon for commenting on my blog ... "What are we doing to protect our brains?"
You and someone else noted that I "left out" information ...... such as adequate water intake, nutrition and the cutting out processed foods, etc. etc.
In lieu of all the information Sparks supplies us with ....... I leave some things to them and our own knowledge by now.........(I write blogs and endeavor to write briefly as possible and mainline one or two strong points.
One thing emphasized here was the info on the Hippocampus part of the brain ..... and how exercises maintains it .......... or 'shrinks' without adequate exercise. ..... Anyway, I believe I recently wrote a blog on the importance of water and hydration ..... Have a great week.
