Fresh Start

8/2/15 - Life has a way of destroying good intentions if you let it. I have allowed life to dictate to me what I can and can't do. Starting today, I'm taking my life back into my own hands. I will ask myself three questions before I eat:

1. Am I really hungry
2. Is this food nourishing
3. Is this the right portion size

If I can say yes to all three questions then I will eat it. If any of them are a no, I will have to find a better option or drink a glass of ...

I will get to the gym at least three days a week. Before work or after work doesn't matter as long as I go. I have to make changes and be deliberate with my life.

Little mini-challenge for you: Can you name 2 songs you can listen to the next time you need to brighten your mood?

Think about the music on your playlist and pick at least 2 songs that are proven mood-brighteners for you. They can be upbeat, slow-tempo, or anything in between . . . as long as they put a smile on your face! Keep them in mind for the next time you need a quick pick-me-up. Music has a proven effect on well-being! It can lift your mood, boost energy, and stimulate positive thinking. It can even help relax you at the end of a long day or during a stressful situation. emoticon

Food-for-thought this week:

Diets have a start and a finish, but a lifestyle change will last forever. Imagine yourself where you want to be, and that is where you will go. Being mindful about your eating can help you stay focused on your weight loss plan. As you eat, pay close attention to all your senses. Use your tongue to feel the texture of the food, gauge its temperature, and take a whiff of the aroma. Ask yourself if it is something that is really satisfying your taste buds. Try this little "trick" this week . . . the “1 Times 10 Trick”

Find 10 opportunities during the day to raise your heart rate for just 1 minute at a time. You can do anything for only 1 minute, right? You’ll burn as many as 300-400 extra calories a day by doing this little trick alone!!! emoticon emoticon
