It's not that I ate horribly or never exercised before starting SparkPeople, but let's just say that old family & college habits die hard. It used to be that a package of Ramen noodles with peas & carrots was a nice dinner. It used to be necessary to keep a box of cookies in my bedroom so that everyone else in the house wouldn't eat them. It used to be enough to just play 2- 40 minute soccer games a week & call it cardio. It used to be fine to go out to the bar 3 nights a week. But something changed...

OK- many things changed. I started gaining weight, feeling tired, and looking older than I actually was. The whole situation was taking a nose-dive & I was on board for the ride. Then an e-mail showed up in my inbox...

SparkPeople- Free Fitness & Healthy Lifestyle Community. I thought for sure there'd be a catch. And now, after nearly 4 months with SP, I've found it. I'm the catch! And you're the catch! We're all the catch! SparkPeople "caught" me & brought me back from that lifestyle nose-dive!

This site, this SP community has helped me to take control of my life. Now I have access to healthy recipes- no more Ramen noodles. Now I practice portion control- no more hiding food to binge on later. Now I have cardio & strength training schedules that are tangible- plus my weekly soccer matches. Now I have Spark Friends that meet for walks & coffee every week.

I'm by no means saying that all my past habits were horrible & have now been discarded. (I still enjoy meeting friends at the bar.) But I've learned something else from SparkPeople- MODERATION & BALANCE. And, throughout this learning journey, I'm discovering something else...a healthier & happier...ME!

emoticon 50 pts on your spin ! ! ! I've seen it a couple times, but never been close. I'm in a hotel near Harrisburg and I got the kid from the front desk to come up and hook up the computer for me. LOL, , , I wrote everything down, so hopefully I'll be able to do it myself next time.

Hoping to be home by Thursday. Trying to stay within my ranges, but it's tough when you're traveling. Gonna do some core exercises and then eat some popcorn. LOL

Thanks for the compliments! You think things stay with you when you are in your 30s wait until you hit your 40s alot harder then! :(

Yeah another soccer-ho-lic! That is great that you play, coach and officiate. One problem I have with ppl that officate is that some have never played the game so they don't understand it, have you seen this? I am sure you have! :)

You do love your cats don't you? I love your pictures in your gallery.

P.S. When I went to Canada I flew into Calgary, then me and hubby went all over to the National Parks (he loves taking pictures), and we drove down to Alberta. It was just beautiful there.
