Zombie Preppin'

The zombies are coming, and I'd like to survive. In my current condition, I couldn't outrun them for long. That's gotta change.

Also, I have Post-Traumatic Stress and I'm just plain sick of being sick. I need to make me a priority. I got a new doctor. I got a new plan. This time, we're going all the way.

Great screen name! Thanks for the comment on my blog. Best of luck with your body building. I used to do lots of weight lifting and I loved the muscles!

Hah! I love WWZ the book too but the only thing the movie and the book had in common was the title - it was literally another story!
And yes, if anyone understands the need to run, it is me. Even babies run - as soon as they learn to walk, they start wanting to take off. It's primal like you say and in our DNA to keep moving as fast as we can!
I have read Born to Run and ironically, I was running in minimal shoes at that point before I got my hands on the book. It is definitely a goody - have you read "What I Talk About When I talk about running?" I heart it!
and sigh on the bras, but it seems like you run despite this issue which is pretty cool. Glad you had a great workout!

Hi Z-girl? Did you see World War Z? No one is as obsessed with zombies around here like I am - I worry that carting Nigel Bear my bulldog is going to be the real challenge when I'm outrunning the zombs:) Are you a walking dead fan?
If you are starting to run, I will obviously encourage you to keep at it - all our talks will be in that vein. I think that you have found a weight training regimen you love right now so keep at that! Don't feel pressure to run until you want to.
If you can't run on the street, can you run on a treadmill? If that hurts your knees, then yes, you might have to wait - but I would go back in five lb increments then: does it feel better at 205? 200? 190?
Also, can you slow it down some? Slower than you want it too...
210 is NOTHING. There are 250+ lb runners in my neighborhood - they run very slow and very carefully and that seems to be the key. Ice/heat/compression/yoga/foam roll/ everything is about recovery.
In terms of the girls, yeah, I don't have big ones and they still get in the way:) What bra are you wearing? Lulu has the tata tamer and I think Oiselle and Nike have great ones too - it will feel tough to breathe when you have a really tight bra on, but as you run, it becomes like second skin.
If you feel discouraged consider it from the point of view of speed (this is something I told my friend).
You will inevitably lose weight (because you are awesome) and you will be smaller. Every girl I know who started running when she was bigger, is smoking me in terms of time now - simple math is the reason. She carried more weight during race training which was like running with a dumbbell. Then she lost it, but all the strength is still there.
You see it as a burden but your body will make you into a running machine - embrace that.
