My weight has fluctuated a lot over the past 5 years. In 2010 when I joined Spark People I was commuting a long way to work which made it difficult to have time to exercise or eat dinner at a reasonable time, but I bought a treadmill and did lose about 20lbs going from 277 down to about 257. In 2011 I moved closer to work which helped but I got sick and gained back the weight I lost plus an additional 10 lbs. In April of 2012 I started really working on my weight loss and went from 288 down to 238. My weight went up gradually in 2013 from 238-250. My weight stayed at 250 for most 2014. In the late summer and fall I started gaining again. We finally got the legal issues settled the end of Sept. 2014 and then I refinanced my house which took from the beginning of Oct. to the end of Dec. 2014. The combination of stress eating and the interruption to my walking routine led to an increase in my weight. From April 1, 2014 to April 1, 2015 my weight has increased 17 lbs. I don't want to lose all the progress I previously made so I am starting again before I gain any more. I am an emotional eater and I have been though a lot in the past 2 years. My neighbor, who I trusted as a close friend, kidnapped my 2 West Highland Terriers, tortured both and killed one. I have been dealing with both the legal issues related to this crime and the emotional and financial impact, which has set me back on my weight loss goals. I did not feel safe walking in my neighborhood because my neighbor who committed this crime was not put in jail for over a year after the crime happened. He is now in prison and I feel safer at least until he gets out of jail. I also started seeing an Endocrinologist during this time to tx Insulin Resistance, Pre-Diabetes, and Hypothyroidism. I started taking medication which has helped me feel better. My current goal is to lose weight 10% at a time. I want to lose 10% of my current weight and when I reach that goal lose the next 10% of my new weight until I can reach my final goal and be in a good range for my BMI. One of my close friends is also trying to lose weight so we will try to support each other, this might help this time around.
My goals are to drink 8 glasses of water a day, to modify foods that I like to lower calorie versions by using stevia and sugar substitutes and lower fat items in receipes, to eat under 1800 calories per day.
I am trying to stay in my Spark People calorie range each day, log my food daily, walk atleast 30 min. 5 x's a week either outside or on the treadmill or with my walking video.
I am originally from Wisconsin, but have lived on the east coast since 1982 and lived in Virginia since 1989. I love to decorate my home, spend time with my pets and friends and find strength in my Christian faith. I also love movies, art, music and nature. I have spent a lot of my life living in the country.
I love Sparks People, it is helping me to reach my goals to be a healthier person.

Happy New Year! I hope 2015 is a happy and healthy year for you and everyone on Spark people. I am starting over again this January too. I have been at the same place for too long, not making progress. I have had so much going on in my life the past 2 years. I am hoping to move forward this year.

Today is Sunday, a day of rest, relaxation and time to refuel for the week. Yet, many people are stressed out. According to our life instruction manual, the Bible, we need to rest today. I am hoping that you are doing just that.
We have a full week ahead of us. If we are rested it will be a much easier week. Besides that, we will make better decisions, have more patience and most of all, enjoy our week a lot more.
If your not resting, please take some time to so. It is a way to take care of yourself, as well as showing others that you see yourself as someone of value and worth.
Have a wonderful week. Enjoy your time of resting and give yourself lots of TLC today because you are so worth it.
