I agree, the women are beautiful in those pictures.. though, yes, probably air brushed. Even the super thin models are airbrushed because, face it, cellulite is a fact of life for even thin women. Sigh. But it does create an impossible illusion of beauty, an idealization that cannot be found in reality.
What to do about it? I think ultimately it takes more than not buying magazines--I certainly buy few enough magazines and those that I do buy don't really have a lot of images of skinny models (I buy mostly crafting magazines like Bead and Button). But it's nearly impossible to get away from the images; we see them on television, on the internet, while waiting in line at the grocery store. We need to be aware of the images and be proactive about defining beauty in a healthy way... and to try to teach our sons and daughters the same thing. 1897 days ago
Thank you so much for your support - I feel better! I've added the weights to the shoulders and arms workout. I can still feel my triceps today which is an feeling! There's no chest workout in the lean version yet but I'm looking forward to doing that. Isn't it fun?! Have a lovely day! 2473 days ago
