A Weight Loss Odyssey

Back again - so last time around I didn't reach my goal weight, close but no cigar! I am still proud that I managed to lose close to 30lbs though! Unfortunately, years later I let all my hard work go to waste and gained it all back...and some. I'm ready to start again and this time I'm in it to win it.

Sparkpeople says it should take about 6.5 months.... Let's see!

My Goals:
Since it's important to recognize small achievements in a long journey, I've decided that for every lb I lose, I'll reward myself with a new MP3.

This will motivate me, and also build my workout playlist ;)

Goals
_________
170 - Rose or Red Tea supplies
160 - Pedicure
150 - iPod Nano
140 - Girls night out, somewhere overnight
130 - Try acupuncture
125 - New clothes shopping
120 - Amber bracelet
_________

Secret goal...

117! Is it possible? I have no idea, but heck why not try right? If I don't like how I look at 117 but if I don't like it I can eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's and correct the situation!

My Program:
Treadmill 3x a week
Strength training 2x a week

Possibly add soccer after a few months or kayaking once it warms up.

Thanks for your comment on my blog.

I agree, the women are beautiful in those pictures.. though, yes, probably air brushed. Even the super thin models are airbrushed because, face it, cellulite is a fact of life for even thin women. Sigh. But it does create an impossible illusion of beauty, an idealization that cannot be found in reality.

What to do about it? I think ultimately it takes more than not buying magazines--I certainly buy few enough magazines and those that I do buy don't really have a lot of images of skinny models (I buy mostly crafting magazines like Bead and Button). But it's nearly impossible to get away from the images; we see them on television, on the internet, while waiting in line at the grocery store. We need to be aware of the images and be proactive about defining beauty in a healthy way... and to try to teach our sons and daughters the same thing.

Thank you so much for your support - I feel better!
I've added the weights to the shoulders and arms workout. I can still feel my triceps today which is an emoticon feeling!
There's no chest workout in the lean version yet but I'm looking forward to doing that. Isn't it fun?!
Have a lovely day!
