The Runner in me!

6 months after giving birth to my daughter I am below my pre-pregnancy weight and still losing. I have set a goal of 119lbs (8 and 1/2 stone) but I may rethink that as I get closer. I'm back running races again and did my first ever 10k in 56 minutes 59 seconds on September 23rd and I am doing a half marathon in October. I am looking forward to setting more fitness goals in the future.

I haven't always had the best relationship with food, well... I don't think I've ever had a good ...

I haven't always had the best relationship with food, well... I don't think I've ever had a good relationship with food until now. My body confidence was minimal before I got pregnant but it's now better than ever before thanks to Sparkpeople. I'm continuously building on my healthy habits so I can pass them on to my daughter.

thanks for reading my bloghad a physical..... to answer your question .. Yes 5 years ago i could not walk by the time they diagnosised me with fibromyalgia ....i had to get myself walking again or face my days in a whel shair or in bed.. .. sorry cant at age 38 with 2 kids and a young husband.... mmmm sorry i had to live my life and not watch it pass by.... it has been a long road the 1st year was getting the meds in my system 2nd year was trying to walk on a tread mill to get walking going again at 1.7 mph (yeah really fast stuff)3 rd was back at the docs again for left side paralitic problems (to this day they still have no idea what it is) and i was walking at 2.5 at this point and at least shuffle waddle penguin walk... finally in november of 2010 i decide i was upping my exercise and trying zumba classes that were starting at my gym (where i walk and get in the pool) i had enough i was 210 pounds i have never been bigger hen 160 and that was when i was pregnant with my kids....So come jan 3rd I had it.... i entered in to zumba classes found a wall to be close too so i didnt bother anyone told the teacher my issues and not to wrry about me if i leave or hug the wall lol....my husband was very leary of my goals and weight loss... which made me all the more stubborn.... Well i could barely do alot of the moves because my muscles were so weak all over i could barely raise my arms to my shoulders and not over my head like everyone else.... side to side movement were a joke...very veyr frustrated in all the things i couldnt do that came easy to many moons ago and was a fitness instructor myself....for 8 years.. and here i am struggling to move forwards and back and side to side.....i also started taking toning classes along with this i was doing3 zumba classes to start a week and 2 toning classes to start with.. yes this is alot to take but i was done with this... for the first 3 months I cryed and cryed in classes ni my car at night when the pain was bad but i got up and did it again... then in march the teacher add 2 more zumba classes and another tonng so i took all of them i was up to 8 classes a week.... my husband stayed out of my eating habits and my exercising (still does today LOL) but admits to me that he never thought i was going to make it past the first month never mind continue for the next year and half and conquer some huge goals along the way....10th month in it i became a licensed zumba instructor but i still had a long way to go and still cryed at times when the pain was high... i moved to NC changed gyms and had didferent classes and zumba instructors (way slower then my angel who saved me )then i went t tampa in january of this year a whole year later joined a gym there (taking care of my father for a while) and man my life changed again I started taking les mills classes Pump attack(HIT) and zumba so when i came back in april to NC i switch gyms my gym was to lacks in there instructors and the elderly ran the place.. so i found my new gym that also has les mills classes and I have only move forward further in my goals.. i can jump for a little bit now i still cant hop i just started really moving further across the floor side ways and jogging and running (which i hate lol) So does it hurt YES.... do i have high pain days in the beginning YES very high alot of tears... the stronger i have made myself the easier and harder it has gotten...i still have high pain days when i have upped my weights or cycled to hard lol or took it to the next level in attack class... i feel good for an hour and i have flexril waiting to take the edge off and heat pads near by to sooth the muscles... it is a long road.. only the person with fibro can make the decision if they can handle the road before them..... the first 3 months ar ethe hardest the harder you push the qicker you recover those muscles that you have lost . you dont use it you lose it.. and it only takes 24 hours to start deteriotating.... yep that is why it is important to exercise and have strength training especially in women...so i am a pusher i am stubborn i did not want to be non functional any more.... i am becoming a personal Trainer to help others like me that wantt o get back what they have lost... to help them thru the pain.. to get to the other side and be able to rejoin life again.. i have gone hiking four times this year and have gotten better each time we have gone possibilities are endless....i am on lyrica and flexril thats my arsenal...and exercise and i have lost 50 pounds since i have started this journey back in jan 3rd 2011 :) i hope your mother finds peace with this awful disease.... in what ever she chooses to do...hugs and much love!
