Getting fit and loving it!

In 2009, I decided to start running. Overdoing it... I injured myself and was sidelined for a short time. After physical therapy, I was given the green light to try again... SLOWLY. I was told about the Couch to 5k program (C25K.com), completing it in February 2010. I ran three races, then quit.

Since then, I gained about 10 pounds back that I'd lost. A coworker invited me to join her in a 5K race in September 2011 and that got me off the couch and training again. I finished ...

Since then, I gained about 10 pounds back that I'd lost. A coworker invited me to join her in a 5K race in September 2011 and that got me off the couch and training again. I finished the race (running/walking) and then finished the C25K program. I continued running until November 2011.

November 19th, I started following the P90X workout program. The following week, I brought my nutrition closer in line with the recommendations for Phase 1... though some days it looks more like Phase 2. I'll keep following this nutrition portion plan for now.

Completed races:
4K on 2/13/2010 - 26:42
5K on 4/18/2010 - 37:17
12K on 5/2/2010 - 1:30:10
5K on 9/24/2011 - ~41 minutes

Ran the last 2 days and did some strength training. Had a busy night last night so I slept this afternoon then got up and ate every piece of bad food I could find in the house. I am now watching America's Next Top Model with my daughter, feeling like a bloated tick and watching really skinny 20 somethings fight about really stupid stuff. You couldn't pay me enough money to go back to that age, tight abs or not!
Looking forrward to a new month and a little more motivation.
Melanie
PS to top it off the plus size girls on this show look the most normal.

Calving season hit with a vengeance this week. I have been up every night with at least one call. By Friday I was seriously sleep deprived and eating anything with fructose as the number one ingredient on the box. I finally got some sleep last night and ate better today but I feel like I am in a sugar hangover today. My guts are protesting and I have had a headache all day. Needless to say I haven't run in over a week which sucks. Was jealous when I read you got a run in :) Keep it up- I'll be cheering you on.
I have found that the strength programs have really helped with my strength at work. I am usually sore the first few weeks but have felt really good so far. Nice to feel the difference.
Have a great week- Melanie

Hope your weekend wasn't too painful. I've never had a root canal but I hate any dental work. I sit in the chair as rigid as a board and just will it to be over- even a teeth cleaning. Ugh, that scraping.

Sounds like you needed a bit of a break from the X. I find my workout routine ebbs and flows with work, family and just plain mental status. I think the important thing is to do a little bit of something most days- like no one has ever come up with that earth shattering observation before emoticon

So, enough of my life changing advice. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Is President's day a holiday for you? We have family day tomorrow. It's a national holiday, but the cows will still be calving :(
