Getting fit and loving it!

In 2009, I decided to start running. Overdoing it... I injured myself and was sidelined for a short time. After physical therapy, I was given the green light to try again... SLOWLY. I was told about the Couch to 5k program (C25K.com), completing it in February 2010. I ran three races, then quit.

Since then, I gained about 10 pounds back that I'd lost. A coworker invited me to join her in a 5K race in September 2011 and that got me off the couch and training again. I finished ...

Since then, I gained about 10 pounds back that I'd lost. A coworker invited me to join her in a 5K race in September 2011 and that got me off the couch and training again. I finished the race (running/walking) and then finished the C25K program. I continued running until November 2011.

November 19th, I started following the P90X workout program. The following week, I brought my nutrition closer in line with the recommendations for Phase 1... though some days it looks more like Phase 2. I'll keep following this nutrition portion plan for now.

Completed races:
4K on 2/13/2010 - 26:42
5K on 4/18/2010 - 37:17
12K on 5/2/2010 - 1:30:10
5K on 9/24/2011 - ~41 minutes

Hey stranger.

Thanks for the SparkGoodie and the sentiments. Yes, spring appears to have finally arrived. I'm thinking about living dangerously and not wearing my winter coat tomorrow. emoticon

I hope you're doing well. Have you got your bike out yet?

Congrats on the 5 milers. Did you enjoy them?

I signed up for my third half marathon on June 16th. I am following a 10 week training plan that is supposed to guarantee me a sub 2 hour time. It starts on April 6th. In the meantime I have been running whenever I can, which isn't enough. I've had some issues with my neck and shoulders which I think I've straightened out. I am really needing to focus on my diet, too. I have been eating a lot of crap lately. Just been in that frame of mind and it really needs to change.

Let me know how your running is going. Take care- Melanie

Hey- how are you doing? Are you still hanging around here some? Gotten any runs in? I signed up for a half in June, mainly to keep myself motivated.

I hope all is going well for you. Send me an update if you get the chance.

Melanie

Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. We must be on the same page because it took everything in me to get up today. And that's it. I feel like a piece of playdoh. Can't quite put my finger on the problem but I hope it passes soon.
Did you get another run in? It's time for me to start looking for a half to do this summer, but that would mean actually expending energy I don't have right now :)
Hope your weekend was good. Take care- Melanie
