Walking (and Shrinking) in God's Grace
Hi. I'm Suzanne, once upon a time I used to work as a writer for an advertising agency, but I've been a full time mom for the last 13 years. I have 4 kids, (yes you read that right) and no, I don't homeschool, lol. Seems like when people find out you have a large family that's the first thing I'm asked. I am a christian and my husband and I are very involved with our church. My kids are all in school full time for the first time and I am now enjoying having more time to take care ...
My kids are all in school full time for the first time and I am now enjoying having more time to take care of myself. I have been overweight for most of my life. When I turned 30, I lost about 40 pounds just by only eating when I was hungry and reducing my portions. While this was the first time I'd ever been successful, it was not practical because I wasn't exercising regularly and you can't force yourself to be hungry during mealtimes. It's always very hard to provide meals for the family and not eat them, and when I did eat, I just wanted to eat junk all the time. When I got pregnant with my 3rd child, I just packed on the pounds and they never came off. Added a few more after my 4th child, you know the drill. I turned 40 this year and I was always hoping that I would be as thin as I when I was 30--it was a fleeting few months before I got pregnant. So, here I am. I've never tracked calories before and I've never been consistent with exercise before. I am so happy with the support on this site.

My Goals:
My first goal is to be in onederland. Haven't been one hundred and something for 10 years. I'm tall so for me, I feel like to be in the healthy BMI range suggested for my height is just unrealistic but who knows? I would be happy to be "overweight" rather than "obese". 255: My heaviest in 2010 246: Starting weight Dec 19, 2011 Going to embrace the journey and celebrate 10 pounds at a time: 235: 225: 215: 205 199: Onederland 190: No longer obese but overweight 180: My goal (but higher than normal BMI 170: A number I have never been (perhaps when I was 12) 160: The magic number that puts me in the normal weight category. Again, I have never been that small and I don't think I ever will be. But we'll see..
My Program:
Counting Calories on SP. I've started the SP 5K run/walk program. I am starting ST too. I've been following the principles of low GI as well.
Personal Information:
My name is Suzanne and I'm Canadian. I am a writer but I have been a SAHM for 13 years now and I love it. I am discovering that in the midst of serving that it's easy to not take care of yourself. Sparkpeople and regular exercising is how I am taking care.
Other Information:
I can do all thing through Him who gives me strength. Would love to be able to encourage you on your journey. This community is so encouraging.
