My name is Jamie. I am done being fat. I have had some big life changes in the past 10 years. Graduating from college and moving from my home in Pittsburgh to Houston, TX and have met and married a wonderful and supportive husband.
However, somewhere in these past 10 years, I have neglected to take care of myself and have managed to add 150 lbs to my small frame that is definitely not small any more. I am so sick of not being able to fit into seats in arenas, on airplanes, amusement park rides, etc. I want to be able to plan things to do and actually do them...not suggest them and avoid them like the plague because I am too worried about if I will fit or how I will look as the fat girl. Oh...and photos...used to love to be in front of the camera...not anymore!!! I have avoided pics in the last 5+ years at all costs. I probably have a total of 15 "fat" pics in all those years. I will avoid the camera until I am forced to take a picture. However, the silver lining for me is that these few pics are going to provide ongoing reminders of what I WAS and what I WILL NEVER allow to happen again! I cannot wait to be able to be comfortable enough to take pictures with my family and friends again.
Just a few months ago, I could barely get out of bed. It was like as soon as I put both feet on the floor, my poor feet were yelling at me to stop making them support all this extra weight. I seriously think that a lot of 70 and 80 year olds moved around better than I did. My knees creaked and ached, my head felt like it was always going to explode, and I had constant acid reflux. Then, I was going through my library and came across my old Atkins books. I started following a low carb lifestyle in May 2012 and have added daily exercise into my routine. Since then, I have much more energy, got totally rid of the acid reflux and head cloudiness, and am not constantly hungry! My current plan involves low carb eating and elliptical workouts, walks outside, and occasional game of tennis. As the weight sheds, I am planning on running a half marathon someday again and to learn how to surf (bucket list item).
My Goal is to first get healthy and log the journey of my weight loss and finally live life to its fullest. Any support and comments are welcome!
