I do believe that my body is telling me, in no uncertain terms, that I have reached (or at the very least, am close to) my set point. I have been losing and regaining the same 3-5lbs for I don't know how long and the most surprising thing is this.... I'm not upset/disappointed!! I will admit that for the first few weeks, I got despondent when the number on the scale didn't move. However, I have seen improvements in other ways which have helped me to accept that this is where my body is right now. I REFUSE to fixate on a particular number!!

I positively LOVE how I'm feeling about myself! I don't have hang-ups about how this or that 'should' be. I am actually very comfortable with where I am and, if I keep losing the same 3-5 lbs...I'm good!! :-) I'll gauge my progress by how much farther I can jog without stopping; how many more hours of sleep I can enjoy; how my clothes fit ....you get the general idea, don't you?

My focus is to keep caring for the WHOLE package...not just my body. After all, there's so much more to me than a number on the scale!! I hope that you too can find that acceptance and love yourself, wherever you are on your journey.

It's official!! I now weigh less that I did 10 YEARS ago!!! I AM AN ATHLETE!! There... I said it!! :-) It is almost incredulous to think that I have made it so far and have not given up!! It just goes to show the power of POSITIVE THINKING!

I feel so empowered!! Mistakes that I've made are now safely filed in the 'Been there... NOT going back!!' folder in my brain. I am convinced that all that I've been through was preparation for my life transformation.

I greet each day with a greater sense of gratitude than the day before!! Sometimes, it feels as though I'm about to literally burst with all the excitement that I have for life. I try to share that feeling with at least one person every day. I nurture my spirit and my body. I've reclaimed my life..... and there is absolutely no way that I'm ever going to give up!!! IT'S NOT AN OPTION!!!

'Overdue' does not even begin to describe this update!! :-) I've been doing really well...I'm 12 lbs lighter than the last time we 'spoke'; I've gained some more muscle and I haven't lost my spark!! Well done [if I may say so myself], especially since I haven't been logging my food, exercise, etc.

I've committed to coming online on the weekends. It's just not practical during the week. After all, we KNOW 'sparking' is an addiction!! Who wants to [or can] log on for only 10 mins/day?

I'm working on maintaining [or is it regaining?] my momentum and tightening up my training. I find that I have been working longer hours for the last month and this has really affected my routine as I'm just sooooooo tired. I have reevaluated my priorities and, guess what? I AM #1!! I already know what it's like to work so hard that I am unable to nurture my body, mind and spirit. After all, that's how I got to 245lbs!! I am NOT going back to that point.... EVER!!!!

I'm still here..... not able to update as often as I'd like, but I'm exercising consistently & eating well-balanced meals. It is still surreal that I've started working.... Every day I'm sooooooooo grateful for the opportunity & am so happy that SP & all the Sparkies helped me to get to my healthiest so that I have been able to [literally] restart my life without all the ills which I had been dealing with for the last several years!! Today is the beginning of a new chapter in my life!!!

I have (thankfully) left the ranks of the unemployed after 82 weeks!! Eighty-two long, arduous weeks, each one having its own challenges and opportunities to give up.... But I never did!! I will admit, it was a real struggle at times; but my faith in God & the faith of those close to me pulled me through!!

I must say, it is such a sense of achievement to be on the mountaintop, looking at how far I've climbed! I truly know what it means to have been at my lowest (previously inconceivable) point & yet not allow bad habits & old ways of thinking to take over my life!!

Things can only get better from hereon out! I am looking forward to the rest of my life's journey..... all the new things that I'll be learning, connections I'll be making & continuing to enjoy living a healthy lifestyle!!!

So far, I've lost 50 LBS!! I know that in order to continue to lose weight healthfully, it's imperative that I revise my program. To this end I will:-

- Measure progress on the scale in 5lb increments.
- Increase strength training to 3 sessions/wk of 30-45 mins each.
- Continue to cross train using my elliptical trainer, stationary bike, skipping rope & step & by swimming 2x/wk.
- Acquire a set of kettlebells & a bosu ball to improve my strength training.

IT'S MY 35TH BIRTHDAY!! I'm the healthiest I've been in so many years and it feels INCREDIBLE!! Thanks SP family!! There is absolutely no way that I could have done it (and continue to do it to boot) without the encouragement and advice I've garnered here!! THANKS A MILLION!!

WhooHoo!! I've been home for almost a month & though I've been 'indulging', I've been able to maintain my weight (whew)!! I'm feeling pretty good about that 'cause I've been able to enjoy treats without overdoing it!! :-)

Additionally, I've realised that my actual starting weight was 242 lbs(gulp!!), so I'll take great pleasure in amending my ticker accordingly!! :-) That means that I've been able to lose 50 lbs in 6 months!!! I'm so darned proud of myself!! I have absolutely NO intention of going anywhere near there ever again!!

I do believe that my 'happy weight' is not going to be anywhere near my original goal of 151lbs, as I am really comfortable in my skin at my current weight &, more importantly, my B/P has normalised for the first time since I was diagnosed hypertensive at 18!! One thing's for sure though, I WILL be maintaining my fitness program & incorporating new exercises. I am enjoying how much stronger I've become (and am becoming) & how much more I'm able to accomplish while exercising. Thanks SparkPeople!! Until the next update.... take care of yourselves!!

WooHoo!! Today marks an extraordinary milestone in my life!

i) It's my mother's birthday and, for the first time ever, I am able to celebrate her LIFE fully!! Being on this journey has been such a healing experience for me! My spirit no longer feels broken and without a home. I have regained balance or rather, have attained balance. I have learned that my whole life can become so enriched, once I nurture all facets of my being. I have grown in ways I would never have even imagined, in my mind, spirit and body......which brings me to the next point.

ii) Today is my 15wk 'Project:Self' anniversary!! 15 weeks since I've done an entire 180 in my life! 15 weeks since I have been learning how to be kind[er] to my body, my brain and my spirit! 15 weeks since I've come to realise that life as I had known it will NEVER be the same again and this time, in a good way!! In these 15 weeks I have been able to lose 35lbs and goodness knows how many inches!! I've found out that there's an inner person who positively thrives on exercise & healthy nourishment ....and she will not suffer being deprived! I have gained strength and stamina which, in my 'previous life', I would never have dared to think I could possess!! As my body is getting stronger, so is my mind. I am able to think much more clearly and, when it's time to, I am able to shut off all the 'buzz' in my brain (or at least turn down the volume) and [finally] be able to sleep anywhere from 6-9 hours every night! Having been a functioning insomniac for at least 13 years, this is monumental!

iii) To top it all off, I have achieved my Feb goal with 2 weeks to spare!!

So, I have so much to celebrate today!! 15th anniversary on the 15th ....hmm, I notice a trend here!! A major weight loss goal realised!! A new & much-improved ME in the making!! WOW!!


Now if you'll pardon me, I think I'll celebrate........with a bowl of berries topped with low-fat yogurt (of course)!! :o]

Ok.....2KMINE is here!! I refer to it as such 'cause this IS going to be a defining year in my life!! I have already been 'laying the foundation' by getting healthier (with SP's help, of course) & I intend to improve on that this year.

It's been exactly 2 months since I've become a Sparkie and, to quote Crush (turtle from finding Nemo)......"AWESOME!!!" The changes I've noticed in myself are nothing less than remarkable! I can say, with utter certainty, that this IS the best I have felt on every single level in 21 YEARS!!

I am constantly learning what it truly means to have my entire being working in harmony. I've found that when I eat healthfully, I have more energy. When I have more energy, incorporating exercise into my day is a cinch. Exercising without meditating is a wasted effort, as my mind also needs to experience balance as does the rest of my body.

There is no point in regretting that I never did this earlier. The MOST important thing is this....I AM DOING IT!! I am so grateful that I found SparkPeople when I did!! The resources have proven to be invaluable in my quest for a healthy lifestyle and I'll be forever grateful.
