Summer 2013 is the summer of Challenges!! June is a squat challenge and an abs challenge. In the middle of June I will start the 100 pushups challenge for Summer of the Beast Done Girls Challenge. We'll see about June and July :)

I am working towards my PhD, and I currently live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Awful weather, but I get to bike everywhere!! Living in a foreign country ...

I am working towards my PhD, and I currently live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Awful weather, but I get to bike everywhere!! Living in a foreign country brings many challenges, and staying healthy is certainly one of them. I am trying to tailor my fitness and eating so I can enjoy this amazing city, and meet my Spark goals. I approach every day and every challenge here with a smile.

I love cooking, and food in general. I need to change my relationship with food so that I enjoy it, but not turn it for comfort. I am a vegetarian, and have been most of my life.

I am a runner. I am incredibly slow. But 3 times a week, I put on my shoes and pound the pavement. I am totally becoming addicted to runner's high/post-workout endorphins. I never thought the day would come :) I have run two races: 8KM Istanbul, November 2012 and 10KM The Hague, Netherlands March 2013.

~ Cross-training with elliptical, bike, and swimming

~ the 30 Day Shred

~ Strength Training 3 days a week, following New Rules of Lifting for Women program

~ Going for a walk everyday.

~ Pilates twice a week

~ Stretching with a foam roller

Happy Monday! I'm just stopping by to remind you, since I completely forgot to repost our Week 7 Challenge emoticon that points were UNLIMITED last week, and you would have earned 1 point for EVERY minute of cardio you did last week, plus an additional 20 points for completing the bonus challenge. This challenge always makes or breaks the entire season, so please make sure you've given yourself the proper point for the proper amount of points.
