Off to a New Year's party (Dec. 31, 2008). Don't I look like a happy camper?

Yiche12's journey

On April 30, 2016, it will have been seven beautiful years on Spark People. I did start out at 183.7 lbs in 2009 and am presently 152.9 lbs. Over the years, Spark People has helped me with the following:

- I have become more aware of the importance of eating well and leaving junk food out of my diet.
- Exercise has become a routine for me.
- The need to sleep a minimum of seven to eight hours a night.
- The importance of staying active online because I am ...

- I have become more aware of the importance of eating well and leaving junk food out of my diet.
- Exercise has become a routine for me.
- The need to sleep a minimum of seven to eight hours a night.
- The importance of staying active online because I am positive that I would have regained my weight if I had not continued on SP.
- The importance of food tracking on a daily basis.
- Soft drinks are no longer drunk in the household.
- Desserts are made for guests only and we don't miss it.
etc. (the list goes on)

Like many of you, I have had ups and downs over the course of this journey. I am presently overweight as per the BMI scale and I will continue my journey to reach my healthy weight.

The truth is that with the weight that I 'have' lost, I have found my self-esteem again and my willingness to continue this struggle. I even look forward to going out more and dressing up again because I can actually look better in the clothes that I have. That is a nice feeling... Truly, I will not go upwards again as I know what that feels like. Yes, with the weight on, I could still do a lot but my cholesterol was high and my BMI was on the obese side -- who's kidding who here?

I am 67 y.o. and never did envision myself being a heavy senior citizen. Looking at my December 2008 picture beside, it was obvious to me that it was time that I got myself moving again and by doing so, it has proven to be beneficial all-round.

I love being back in action, myself. However, I will be seeing an elite Podiatrist who does surgery on problem feet and ankles, and he will be operating on my foot and from what I understand, it is a very long recovery time. I will be seeing him in May. If God doesn't give me a miracle, and I know He can and He is able, but even if He doesn't, He's still the God that I choose to follow, I will be in a wheel chair for the rest of my life, and that's not God's plan for me, in the aspect that I see Him dealing with me, about what to do and where to go, to minister to people. All I can do is just rest in the palm of His hand and let Him lead me.

Blessings!

Thanks for the comments about the cargo bikes! You write your children used trailers, too, to transport children.
What trailer did they use?
How was their experience?

I saw your post in the Spring Challenge. I see you also like to batch cook/freeze. That's one of my favorite time-savers that helps me keep to good eating habits. Hoping we can swap/share some good recipe ideas.
